Some of you need to stop thinking in terms of "completely fixing the defense." That's not going to happen this year. That What we need for the remainder of this year is the defense to just be mediocre....like holding teams to 25 points. That is something 1 or 2 players and scheme changes can go a long way to doing. The offense can handle the rest. If what this guy is saying is true, our already exciting year could possibly get much more exciting.

Rather than being fired, so sutton saves a little face and AR does right by his guy rather than fire them. Possible train of thought within the organization.

I think it would be more of a forced retirement, sutton is to old to get another job, the pressure is mounting, and AR would like to save some face rather than just come out and kick him to the curb. But again that is all if these rumors are true this is how I would see it going down.

Not to mention we all know the bengals are going to slice up this defense, but if they slice it up AND we loose 2 games in a row the backlash from fans and media is going to be absolutely harsh and veech will then be forced to act. Why couldn't you sail on the momentum of an ascending offense to convince the fanbase that trading PP is to get additional capital to build around Murray and the next era of Cardinal football.

If anything it would be easier to trade Peterson if the team is showing progress than if it was wandering the wastelands. When teams suck, the fans only pay attention out of loyalty and intertia. That's when you lean on the "COME WATCH TAMBA HALI PLAY OUT THE STRING!!" sort of marketing. But when you have Patrick Mahomes - fuck this Derrick Johnson dragging ass stuff, we got games to win...

A year older and 33% more expensive makes the calculus a little different. Especially for a CB (who don't get progressively worse; they're good and then they just SUCK).

He most certainly does not want to be there. He made that pretty evident when he asked for a trade. He may be delivering lip service now to appease the fans and front office, but he made his real feelings known quite clearly.

I really believe it’s PP.

It just makes too much sense. We know there’s real interest, he doesn’t want to play for the Cardinals anymore, him and Tyrann are close, and if we aren’t going to extend Jones it makes no sense not to do it.

He'd be about the only CB that would really make sense to me with where the Chiefs are in their window. Howard just doesn't really make sense to give up that much IMO, and there isn't really anyone else that would be on the block that would be much better I don't think.

I mean I guess the Cards may just want to much and it doesn't get done, but again, if Terez is saying it, i'm guessing something happens at some point.

Yea if it’s not PP it’s somebody we haven’t even really considered.

Kind of like how nobody saw Fuller being the guy when we knew a player was included in the Alex Smith trade.

If you kinda tea leave it though, it's someone that's either under contract or will obviously need a new one as it's not like they cleaned up some pocket change.

I also don't know who else would be willing to trade away a CB. Speculating, but if you decided you weren't gonna pay Jones and knew you could get a high pick for him in a tag and trade, what are we thinking we would be willing to give up for a CB?

I don't see them paying 2 guys that much on the DL, so it just makes sense to tag and trade him.

If you could tag and trade him and get say, the 24th pick in the draft back for him, you'd probably do that no?

For it to be PP, we need the Cardinals to LOSE...a lot. If they start winning, the cardinals won't be willing to move him.

If you want to build a defense, i'm not sure how his contract figures into it.

You'd have him and Clark and then you've have to piece the rest together.

I'm not opposed to keeping him, but if his contract demands are that high, i'd take the pick and let someone else pay him.
