Do you sleep post? You should already be asleep to get 8 hours.

Why Not?

Between 5:30-6

Depends. Work technically starts at 8 for me, but sometimes I like to get in to the office before everyone else and have some peace and quiet to settle in and get my brain going. I’ll wake up at 6 and be at work around 7-7:15.

Other times I wake up at 7 and get to work at 8. I’d say I split this 50/50, just depends how I’m feeling and how much work I have to get done. Over the weekend I’m usually up at 6.

7:30 usually unless I'm hunting, then sooner. I work the 2:30-11:00 PM shift though.

I get up at 6:30 which I know isn't particularly early. I do feel like those that get up earlier are more likely to respond to this thread though.

Shit I wish. It's on the same time as Matlock and I can't figure out how to record a different channel with my VCR.

5:10 and I hate it. In my perfect world I could sleep until 7:00. I rarely get to bed before 11:00.

On early workout days, we (my wife and I) get up at 4:45am.
On late workout days, it's 5:15am.
On weekends, we sleep in between 6-7:00am.
We've both always been early risers. Even when we were in college and staying up partying with friends until nearly dawn, she and I would be up early and walking while everyone else slept in until noon or later.

When I have too much going on at work, I often wake up much earlier (as early as 2:30am) and start working. I actually do some of my best problem solving and "flow" state work that early. It just sucks to then need to go do a full day at the workplace after that. Otherwise, I love the feeling of being up when no one else is and getting a head start on the competition.

Buy another TV and VCR. Record it in a different room. You're welcome.

When I was working I got up at 5:30 every morning to get to work at 7:00

I retired last January, and after an adjustment period, I now get up whenever the sun shines through my east-facing bedroom windows. I can't sleep any longer than that.

I have never been a natural early riser and I absolutely despise the hour I lose for DST. I get up about 30 minutes before I have to be at work which is 8 or 9 a.m. If I'm not working I'll sleep til I wake up which is usually 9 or later, if we're both home we may get up around 9 or 10, jump in the shower, "workout" and sleep another couple of hours. Naps are also likely to happen whenever they come along.

Move to the west bedroom or black out your windows, although early risers never get to be as sloth-like as true late sleepers.

Not everyone needs 8 hours.

That's TOO much sleep for me. Hell, they even isolated the gene responsible for people who only need 4 or fewer hours of sleep.

I work for myself, from home, so I just wake up whenever I want depending on how late I went to bed. Not trying to derail the topic, but how many of you hit the snooze? I absolutely have to hit the snooze. It’s almost like I don’t know even remember the first time my alarm goes off... which is scary as s***!

Pee, then stretch for about 5-10 mins. I have weights and a stationary cycle in my basement. I lift and workout for about 45 mins to an hour. Shower, eat and have a cup of joe. Then, I hang out at my house for about an hour, fix breakfast for and talk with my youngest (Sr in HS) before he heads off to school, chit chat with my wife, surf the Net, and then head to the office a little before 8. Rinse and repeat until the weekend hits. Then I sleep in until 7a

I sleep in until about 10:30, then I roll out of bed in my flannel super-hero themed pajama pants and dinner stained Tee Shirt. After that I usually use the rest room and shuffle out to go down to the gas station or walmart to buy smokes, a king size snicker bar and a couple cans of malt liquor before I head home to watch the judge shows and grab a nap.
