I know this is reaching, but for a Chiefs rooting angle, it's probably better for the Packers to win. It would help if Seattle is OUT of the playoff hunt when we see them in their place on 12/23.

The Packers have a pretty clear path to win their division. Their non division games are cakewalk, and their division rivals aren’t world-beaters. Agree Seahawks are out, though.

Guys, we are going to win in Seattle.

Our strengths are all their weaknesses. They can’t keep Russell clean, and we’ve got maybe the best pass rush in the NFL. Their receivers are pretty good, ours cover better than almost any in the league. Their run game is shit and they can’t hit us with any good tight end.

On defense, they put a hell of a ton of pressure on your QB but only from the edges, where the Chiefs are the strongest. They’re pretty good in coverage but that won’t matter against Pat.

That game is a win, folks.

Has way more to do with McCarthy. There is no team in the league that runs a more basic offense and basically goes "hey Aaron go into god mode and win this game".

They do very little to help Aaron with easy completions or scheme to have guys open.

That throw from Rodgers is the next step in Mahomes development.

He doesnt throw a good deep ball right now, IMO. He doesnt put that air under it that helps WRs locate and run under it. If he'd use that arm strength to throw it 60 yards downfield and dropped from the sky rather than 70 yards in the air on a string, he'd have a lot more success with it.

McCarthy isn't half the coach that Reid is. But he has Aaron Rodgers, who covers up a lot of flaws. Now that Reid has Mahomes it seems like whatever flaws Reid has have disappeared. And so we've lost one game. On the road in New England. By 3 points.

Aaron Rodgers is playing like pure shit (by his standards ) this year. If he didn't fuck up that last drive he had, he never puts McCarthy in a position to make mistakes. This year I've noticed he routinely skips over easy passes and first down while trying to make home run passes. I know a lot of people don't like hearing it, but sometimes, hitting the check down is the right move. Especially when it can result in an easy first down.

For what it's worth - Rodgers wasn't like this when he was young.

It's my last worry with Mahomes - how time will change him. Rodgers was very much a happy-go-lucky kid when he was a new starter. It took 4-5 years for him to start to 'big time' people.

Obviously we don't think it will happen with Pat, but I'm betting packers fan didn't think Rodgers would turn into a bit of a surly dickhole either.

There is a slight difference between playing for the Packers and the Chiefs.. and following a league personality like Favre.

There won't be if he wins.

If Mahomes wins a SB, with his charisma, the Chiefs would become a national brand immediately. It's a difficult thing for us to fathom, but I'm certain it's true.

And while it's true that following Favre is different than following Smith, let's not act like Favre was a beloved character when Rodgers stepped in. People were tired of the retirement acts and thought Favre was washed up. When he went to the Vikings, his own fans turned on him. Following Favre wasn't the same as following Elway in Denver - the shine had largely worn off him by the time Rodgers took over.

Wilson's the counterpoint; I've never seen him develop that kind of toxic sheen on top. He's generally remained a pretty grounded, humble guy and appears to be the same style of leader he's always been. We'll be extremely fortunate if Mahomes handles the spotlight the same way Wilson did.

But we can't dismiss the possibility that he becomes a little jaded by the whole thing; a little more cynical or hard-edged. I wouldn't bet on it, but it's not impossible.
