Interesting. Vermeil seems like more of a Goff guy.

I know I'm in the minority but I like Vermeil. Sure he had flaws but the guy was a true leader and helped put together two of the best O's in NFL history.

If only the Chiefs could have just transitioned directly from Vermeil to Reid and skipped the 8 year shitshow between them.

I love Vermeil. I know it was ultimately disappointing with only 1 playoff appearance & that playoff appearance was painful, but I'll always love the Vermeil era.

Probably nostalgia since that's when I started becoming real die hard around 13 years old when he was hired. Priest, Green, Tony G, Dante, T-Rich, Eddie, that O-Line...It was so fun to watch & it was so refreshing after the boring offenses under Marty.

Loved Vermeil as a person too. Wish that era was more successful but it was fun.

I think most of us fans loved Vermeil.
Tony G didn't care much for him though. He has mentioned how what an emotional roller coaster ride it was to play on his teams.

Only reason we didn't win the Superbowl with him as head coach is because he didn't have Bob Sutton as defensive coordinator.

The game was truly unique. The trouble is I can't remember that Giants-Saints game or if there's any other similar; but I cannot imagine that the flow of the game was so back-and-forth as last night, not to mention that it was two 9-1 teams in prime time and everything else. It could've been the most electric game in NFL history, and that's not hyperbole.

And guess what? No one says a negative thing about us. No one cares about 54 points, no one cares about defense yadayada, people just appreciate the Chiefs now. They want to see them; they'd pay to see them. We are THE thing in the NFL; the Saints-Rams game was nowhere near as hyped or talked-about before, during or after.

ROFL What's sad is I'm pretty sure you're right. We have Bob Sutton, even this year's worst version of Bob Sutton, we probably win a Superbowl.

Tony Gonzalez doesn't talk much about the Vermeil years except to describe how toxic and divided the locker room was, fwiw.

Vermeils D had No talent..we don't have a great defense now by any means but that defense had no Justin Houstons, Dee Fords, or Chris Jones..no playmakers at all (Until they lucked into Jared Allen)

We must be around the same age, that was the era that hooked me too. I had the privilege of meeting several of them through family friends, and in again in the years since... I almost tear up when I think about how much those guys inspired a young fan and made me a lifer

damn now I feel old, Joe Montana coming to KC is what got me hooked. That's when I started getting into football and lived in Kansas and they were always on TV and at that point in time, I didn't know many football players but I knew who Joe Montana was.

Interesting. Vermeil seems like more of a Goff guy.

He is sitting there with a Chiefs shirt on. There was no way he was going to say Goff. None whatsoever.
