Other than the obvious our record setting QB.

Let's fire up the way back machine and start with 2003.
That squad started 9-0. The defense played well and actually won us a game or 2. Mike Maslowski goes down we finally lose a game and the wheels come off on that defense.

The 2010 team was a fluke we all knew that.

2013 again we start off 9-0. Wheels come off although towards the end Smith and the offense step it up both Hali and Houston go down in the San Diego game. We end the regular season 11-5 but 2-3 in our last 5. We all know what happens in the playoff game vs the Colts.

2015: We go on a fantastic streak. Reid learns to run the ball and Alex grows balls and attempts to go down field with some success BUT in a game against Buffalo Houston gets injured. That derailed the run. A healthy Houston we beat New England and I'm confident a risk adverse Smith with that defense beats a washed up Manning at Pile high.

2017: We start off 5-0. Smith has a career year but flames out in the end. Bailey is injured and Jones goes down in the playoff game.

2018 were the #1 seed and what's this? Heading into December were getting 2 possibly 3 ALL PRO PLAYERS COMING BACK. We dont lose that Rams game with Morse and LDT. Patty doesnt fumble it twice.

This is crazy. BELIEVE MOTHER FUCKERS. Were getting 3 great players back going into December. Has that ever happened in Chiefs history? Shit I cant think of many teams since I've followed the NFL who get this many studs back heading into the end of the year.

That's why this year will be different.

IN! I agree, we're putting the band back together just in time instead of the reverse...

This year definitely has a different feel to it. With PMII, I think we can beat anyone.

Pats and Rams played nearly flawless games to beat us, Mahomes made a number of mistakes in both games, and we still had really good chances to win at the end. I know close doesn’t cut it in the playoffs, but I’ve never seen this team play at such a consistently high level for so long. They’ve been exactly who we thought they were or better in each game. We might be one and done again, or we might lose in the SB, but I feel like they will play the game we expect them to play the rest of the way. Other Chiefs teams have had weird losses that no one would have predicted. It just doesn’t seem like that will be the case this time around.

Only a few Chiefs teams have been true Superbowl contenders. In last 23 years, probably only 1997, 2015, and 2018

That is not "way back". "Way back: would be in the 60's.

Ok so you barely have the wetness dried from behind your ears. No matter though. 2003 til now is 15 years. So that would be recent history Billay.

Maybe it’s because I’m in the market business but I always think you have to have a storyline for the NFL to promote.

We have tons of them.

Mahomes - the next generation of QB is here
Berry - cancer/injuries and the SB is in Atl where he’s from.
Reid - everyone wants him to win a SB. It’s like DV and the Rams

And tons of side stories
Best player in the game Hill
Fords coming out party
Kelce is made for TV

The only boring thing about this team is our owner and but man would we get some Lamar love!

It’s going to happen.

Shout out to Clark Huht too. Spent alot of money trying to get Pioli here. Could have given up after that failed experiment.

Yeah. I couldn’t be more excited.

We are still thin at a lot of places and injuries could still bite us in the cornhole. But yeah. There isn’t much fraud on this team.

I should point out, however that, for the love of fucking God, it is “risk AVERSE”.

Smith has an aversion to risk. Therefore he’s risk averse.

He does not have a grammatically incorrect unfavorable relationship to risk.

Remember kids he’s risk AVERSE.

There was nobody on that 2003 that was really worth a shit.

Houston, Ford, Jones, Fuller, Nelson are much better players than anyone on that 2003 D.

It's different because Mahomes doesn't turtle up for a half.

It also might be the same because man this D is shit.

Our defense is the new Alex Smith.

Mahomes is great. No worries about him.

For me it's two things...
1. Can our defense outplay 2003 chiefs
2. Can Andy Reid avoid stepping on his own feet. I still think we're brutally frustrating at putting teams away. We should have won the majority of our games in a blowout. May not matter now, but we can't give playoff qbs even an inch. We have a qb who can dominate 4 quarters. I just hope Reid takes the leash off in the 4th quarter of the playoffs.
