View Full Version : Chiefs Question why is LUCAS no snaps?

Daru

Not understanding. Parker and Sorenson both slow trash. Lucas before has some strike but no snaps lately. Benched yes why??

DJ brought it up and I think it probably rings true here.

Those guys suck but it's more devil I know kind of thing. They trust those guys to suck not awful hard. They dont' trust Lucas to do that.

His tackling is not very good.

That's the only complaint I can muster with him so far. But that rings as hollow as ever with Eric Murray's atrocious performance against the Raiders.

KC is paying Sorensen almost 4 million dollars

Think about that for a second

Lucas should get snaps for no other reason than to send a message to the garbage safeties that are starting.

Evidently making plays < Sutton's confidence in the player being in the right place on the field to not make a play.

Lucas didn't make all that many plays. The defense was still really bad even with him playing.

But they've always been able to have journey men play well back there before.

It's weird. I don't really know what has happened.

Agree with Daru. This is the most perplexing personnel decision on defense this year. Lucas looked like he had potential when he got some playing time earlier this year. Sutton prefers incompetent veterans.

Were they ever really that good without Berry back there?

Were they ever really that good without Berry back there?

That's my thought. When Berry was an All-Pro...it was pretty easy to find one safety to do at least a mediocre job. When you're trying to find two safeties.....it's apparently impossible.

The way Murray got juked out of his jock in the backfield last game, Id rather see Lucas get the snaps and get some experience! At least he looks fast!

The whole secondary really is that bad, and no confidence nor swagger at all. When is the last time you saw a Chiefs DB get an interception? I honestly couldn’t tell you. Rams game it was Chris Jones. I was at the Raiders game and just watching these guys play... no gas, no spark, no motor. Carr could have just thrown it to Jordy Nelson on the right all game and had 500 yards.

Only 2 more seasons until he learns when to tackle in Sutton’s scheme.

My brother was over during the game and he was like "Eject them both!"

It's a 2 way win for the Chiefs. Murray is out and the Raiders best offensive weapon is out.

Yeah, I’m not sure what happened there. But, Golden asked for his release. Maybe he looked at the trash playing in front of him and said “I gotta get the hell outta here!”

I think Sutton was having such problems preventing breakdowns in assignments that he didn't think he could afford to teach Lucas at the same time. Reid prefers dependable mediocrity.

Here is some heresay for you: Emmitt Thomas is 75 years old. HOF career but maybe the game has passed him by? Is it ageism to question whether a 75 year old man should still be coaching millennials at the NFL level? (Especially as a position coach.) Has he been kept on for 8 years out of respect for his career as a player?

Question that has been asked since the Cleveland game? He's the best safety that has played this season on the team and I don't think it's particularly close.

Lucas is having issues with his assignments. You can have a choice of a guy that doesn't know where he's supposed to be, or a guy that can't tackle but knows his assignment..

How long ago was it we was trading away Safeties?

One went to Tampa Bay. ONe in Seattle or was that the same guy? McQuay or something was one of them I think?

Then teach him? Maybe he can't learn ?

The safety play is so damn frustrating. It torpedoes the d.

We had the KU safety, Bradley McDougald for awhile, don’t know why we let him go? He seems to be doing pretty well at Seattle

He isn’t that great. He looked good against Bortles FFS. I get it but he’s not got much experience and he got beat pretty badly in games that followed.

I know everyone will pin this one Sutton, but Eric Berry makes everything so much easier on this defense.

That’s the biggest reason we were able to have lower level talent in the backend doing well.

The first year Berry was injured back in, I think, 2014 KC had a top 5 passing defense.

OF course that season Justin Houston was an unblockable animal. Also Abdullah was a good player.
