Source: Carson Wentz has had a fracture in his back but was not made aware of the results of the scan. Some players are aware of the situation and what I am told this has caused a huge issue internally.

Scans were done in week 7 or 8.

As someone who has a fractured vertebrae and has had years of chronic pain due to back issues, **** the Eagles forever for this (this was also what ultimately ended Romo's career).

I was told by a douchebag former frat doctor in Lawrence that the issues would clear up in "weeks" and "not to worry". The doctor didn't approve me for an MRI for this reason. It's been over 3 years, and the pain has never gone away. When I finally got approved for an MRI (it took over a year), it was discovered that I had a herniated disc at the area of the fracture.

Wondering if the Eagles took a similar stance here for Wentz' "own good."

If this is true, what the actual ****

There has to be more to the story than that. It seems unfathomable that they wouldn’t have told him about it and just let him go back out and play knowing that he had a fracture.

My Wife - who is a MSN was injured on the job at a Hospital - huge "fire doors" (spring loaded) hit her in the back while she was moving some pediatric equipment out of a room. Hit her in the back and fractured 4 vertebrae, essentially ending her Nursing career.

She has struggled with it from that point on. Sure, they took care of her, paid her workmen's comp and she got a nice settlement - but that was 6 years ago and she still has HORRIBLE back pain.

that shit never goes away - even after healing. She even talked with a Surgeon who told her, flat out, that surgery "could" be performed, but she would probably be in more pain that she currently experiences.

Yep - that's where I am.

The only surgery that my insurance will approve is a fusion. But at 26, screw that - especially since the few people I knew who got a fusion regretted it later.

There's two surgeries I "can" get. One is a widening of my spinal column (shout-out to Gronk for pioneering that one). The second is a stem cell injection. Neither are covered by my insurance, and both are over $100,000 in cost.

Luckily, Wentz is going to have more options than me. But playing him in that condition could have put him at risk for a career-ending and personally debilitating injury. I'm hopeful the Eagles aren't this ****ing stupid.

I have heard the new fusion techniques are way better... Flexible "rods" opposed to the old rigid methods... However, I would make that a last resort as well. I had back surgery about a year ago to widen my column with a lamenectomy... Playing FB in college and being active in sports and hobbies since had cause pre mature degeneration. It has worked so far after a rough few months. Pain is gone. At some point it will need addressed again as the disc aren't what they used to be and fusion may be an option. I am encouraged by the advances being made. I'm double your age, and can't imagine having these issues at 26. My son played football in college and had a microdisectomy for a herniation, but that is fairly minor procedure. He was 21.

If I got approved for a laminectomy I'd be all over that. I used to be against surgery, but my options are wearing thin. The pain is at a point where I've been struggling to sleep at night - so anything that could bring relief is welcome.

I'm on my second insurance provider and am dealing with the same red tape I did with my first one. It's a cycle of "months physical therapy, the weeks of steroids, finally an approved MRI - and then Doctor's who won't refer me to a specialist due to age." I'm hoping that I can finally get the ball rolling on my care again over my holiday break - but I'm not holding my breath, unfortunately.

I'm wondering where the fracture is for Wentz. That could be critical in how lasting the damage could be for him.

Honestly, they gave my Wife fairly good treatment - even flew her out to Phoenix for a consultation with some big shot back Surgeon - and his advice (if you want to call it that) was to "stay the hell away from fusion".

His other advice was more dire - unfortunately, (according to him) it haunts you for the rest of your life.

Total stereotype on my end.

He was a doctor with the blonde highlights that were popular with some of the KU fraternities at the time. Hair like the picture I'm attaching below.

He brushed me off the entire time I was there and seemed disinterested in what I was going through. When I objected to him saying I didn't need an MRI, he reminded me "who the doctor was" on multiple occasions.

I have nothing against greek life - he just seemed to represent all of the worst stereotypes about it.

Oh yeah - I had no love for some hailing from the pretentious “Hashinger” crowd either (they were about the furthest thing from Greek life).

It’s all relative. While I had bad experiences living on the same floor as fraternity guys pledging my freshman year, Alpha Chi Omega was amazing in getting our non-profit off the ground at KU. One of my groomsmen hailed from Hashinger too.

It was not my intention to paint with a broad brush and I apologize if my stereotyping gave offense. Something that still riles my emotion and irrational anger is the experiences I’ve had attempting to find adequate health care - and I’ll own that, fully.

Yeah I don't understand. I'm definitely not a lawyer but I would think that not telling someone a diagnosis, especially to protect a company (like an NFL team) would be pretty clear malpractice. That's pretty grossly unethical, and I would hope would be grounds to revoke a medical license.

I don't understand how a doctor could get away with basically intentionally misdiagnosing a patient. I wouldn't think a doctor would risk their career over that, even if they are getting paid by a team.

Absolutely, Wentz should be able to sue the doctor and the team for millions. This is beyond malpractice, it's malicious in nature. If this story is all true, you know the team told the doctor not to tell him. He might be able to force his release too.
