They went farther than anyone expected at the start of the year. They took several steps in the right direction. Now they know what it's like to get close and what it will take to get there. Next year could well be "the" year. And that ain't "homer speak".

It is what is. Andy Reid out coaches most of his opponents, and sometimes out coaches Belichick, but tonight, Andy Reid was out coached. Reid's flaw is his loyalty -- Sutton and Heck should have been gone a long time ago.

There's only one Belichick and we don't have him. Reid may be #2, although I'd probably prefer McVay. Whatever -- Reid is a top 5 coach, and it's obvious.

Sure as hell better bring in a new DC and change the culture. Led the league in penalties, defense unable to finish games...really is incredible we made it this far.

Reid has been saying the same shit every week since he's arrived yet we've had the same issues since he's arrived.

Problem is, Reid doesn't know a single thing about the things we need to get better at. We do all our Reid stuff at max Reid-iness. Still doesn't overcome his blindspots.

Ried’s loyalty is the problem not his coaching

No, Clark committed fully to Andy Reid the moment he chose him over Dorsey a hired his little buddy from Philadelphia to take Dorsey's place. It will be years before Reid is even close to being on the hot seat, if ever. I imagine Andy will be the one who chooses when to leave KC.

Had Sutton been shit canned last year, things may have been different. Hopefully, Sutton has enough integrity to fall on his sword.

I'm so sick of hearing Reid's bullshit. In every loss this year he said Sutton did a good job, even saying he made great adjustments

Sutton will be the DC unless he retires. That's the only chance we have, and then even if he does retire, chances are Reid will promote someone already on this staff, which is basically signing up for more Sutton.

If Reid doesn't get it done next year with Mahomes, I really think he should be fired. I know he won't be, but it already feels like the Chiefs are preparing to give Mahomes the Green-Bay-Packers-Aaron-Rodgers treatment, minus the one Super Bowl.

Bob Sutton at age 750 is not going to learn from this to become a competent DC, Andy.

ChiefsFanatic

Ried’s loyalty is the problem not his coachingMaybe you should review Reid's resume again. Reid's coaching style is win in the regular season, followed by a standard "We'll learn from this" statement after losing in the playoffs.

Reid probably has that speech memorized. Sutton has to go, but it's not like Reid only loses because of bad defense. He loses in the playoffs because he is a loser. That's his coaching style. It will never change.

I can't believe Sutton will be retained, but the damage has already been done. Sutton should have been shit-canned long ago.

Age discrimination doesn't look good on you. There is no way in hell Sutton is over 735.

done with all televised sports, Just gonna watch my kids play, then no more sports once they are done.
the fluctuation in the rules, of which there are way too many, lack of true sportsmanship, the way my kids act when we win\lose, the obvious rigging of the games in collusion with the networks. I'm sofa king done.

Ried’s loyalty is the problem not his coaching

He was outcoached pretty bad in the first half today. He seemed too stubborn to try shorter/quicker throws when it became obvious the Patriots were bringing a very strong pass rush.

I agree. I love watching Mahomes. Dude has serious talent and is just gonna get better. But fuck this retarded ass league. 90% of the damn game is commercials and 7% is stupid ass replay reviews for shit that should take 5 seconds to get right. The game is all about calls. Every single incompletion the WR looks around for a flag. It takes so little for a ref to dictate who wins or loses the game. It's a joke.

I agree, I don't recall a single screen pass the 1st half as they blitz our asses with different alignments.

Andy's play calling sucked the 1st half as bad as our OL did!

We'll be ok. The future really is bright. And soon Brady and Belichick will be gone for good.

What stings the most for me is being right there, being SO CLOSE.......and not getting it done. And now we have to wait 365 days to get back in this position and that's assuming we even get there.

Tonight wasn't a nut kick, it was blue balls. Frustrating, painful, disappointing blue balls.

We'll be back, but it's gonna be a loooooooonnnnng offseason.

What DCs are out there?

I’m guessing he won’t be fired because all the candidates got hired by the new HCs or are slated to be for the remaining two.

I want him fired, and cue the jokes, but who realistically is available?

In the 2nd half they went outside more to negate the rush and other routes started opening up.
