Report: Chiefs identify, ban laser-wielding fan

Josh Alper,ProFootball Talk on NBC Sports 1 hour 3 minutes ago .

The fan who aimed a laser light at Patriots quarterback Tom Brady from the stands at Arrowhead Stadium has reportedly been identified by the Chiefs.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the fan has been banned from Arrowhead Stadium for life as a result. Video from the game shows a green laser at Brady’s head and torso before he took a snap in the Patriots win.

“There’s a lot of pride in Kansas City, and we and our fans thought, ‘You don’t do that here,'” a Chiefs official said.

According the ESPN, Kansas City Police were going to cite the fan with disorderly conduct. Members of the Chiefs organization, however, didn’t feel the charge was strong enough and have pushed for “the harshest penalty possible.”

Groovy, now reveal the identity of the " undisclosed AFC team" who decided to press the Kareem Hunt investigation further to have the video conveniently released by TMZ in mid-season during the hunt for the #1 HFA seed.

Yeah, it sounds like wishful thinking to me. He obviously can't get season tickets, and may not be able to buy single game tickets in his own name from a legit source, but he can attend games as somebody's guest or buy them secondhand. It's not like they have facial recognition or check for IDs.

I can't imagine a season ticket holder would be foolish enough to do that in the first place.

If he got caught in attendance they can sure yank his ass out. It would be hard though in cold weather just wearing a ski mask or scarf would hide his identity. I'd bet he will attempt to attend games.

Exactly. Even if his credit hard would produce some sort of hit (and I doubt if they're that sophisticated) he could just pay for anything purchased in the stadium with cash.

No... but if he does go back into Arrowhead and gets caught fucking around again he is beyond royally fucked. He would be immediately arrested and the charge goes up to Criminal Trespassing along with anything else they can think of.

It is just a deterrent.

As many of you know I worked many years with the Chiefs in Security. When someone is banned, they would have to use another name or ticket to get in. That much is true. But you would be surprised at how well and quickly someone that has been banned is recognized. Whether from Security Personnel, another fan, or from the cameras monitoring the stands.

Any idea if that's correct?

Not only trespassing but contempt of court, violation of probation usually applies as well. Identity theft. It can get real serious real quick. Based on my experience more often then not the offender is caught. I can speak from experience with one that I went to court on and he came back in the next year.

That's interesting. It never occurred to me that you'd actively seek banned persons out. Seems like looking for a needle in a haystack when you don't even know if the needle is in the haystack.

But you certainly know more about it than I do. Although the way people were bundled up two weeks ago I don't see how it would be possible. Of course, people would only bundle up like that for a couple of games a year, if that.

Assuming the Chiefs went through the right legal avenues, he could be arrested for something similar to criminal trespass if he comes to Arrowhead. Obviously, someone would have to identify him, and he might get away with it, but he'd be taking a risk of being arrested.
