Why?

That body has a ton of mileage on it.

Cowboys should just move on.

Good deal. Joe Tessitore is really good, get somebody to compliant him and MNF would be solid again.

This is weird and random

When I got the notification from the NFL I had to rub and squint my eyes

Seems like this transpired overnight, there wasn’t any sort of smoke about this likebthere usually would be.

Oh, I agree completely! I just can't believe he's got enough gas in the tank to really make a comeback.

Did he even have to interview for that spot on MNF?

Guy sounds like he huffs paint, I don't know anyone who had ever heard him talk thought it would be a good idea to stick him in front of a microphone.

Somehow I bet he ends up in the Cowboys front office before the season starts. I think this was to save face from ESPN giving the boot.

I'm sure he was about to get shit canned because he's bloody awful in the booth. Take this gig to save face, wash out in pre-season, go do radio for the Cowboys. Or open a car dealership or insurance business in Dallas.

Lord, he was awful in the booth. The fact that he got the MNF gig shows you how far MNF has fallen...he's the best you could get?? Shit man...

Witten: Although I did enjoying talking about games through the talking stick, I have decided to return to the gridiron. Games were great but I always ran out of food and water afterwards. I did not enjoy spending the night at the stadium.
NFL: Mr. Witten had difficulty understanding he had to turn the knob on the door to exit the booth.
Witten: knob?

Seems to be a campaign on Twitter to replace him with Dan orlovsky. Would be a really good idea. Which means espn probably won't do it.

His performance on the football field can't be any worse than his performance in the broadcast booth-he was the worst of the worst, even surpassing the all-time worst Dan Fouts. :shake:

yeah he definitely wasn't a good booth guy - I feel like he did show some signs of improving but he was still in the 'awful' category. Seems nice enough though - just boring and horrible at it.

MNF used to be the pinnacle of achievement. I don’t know how the hell they ended up with the dudes in there they did. Obviously I can’t know, but it looks like ESPN was flinging shit at the wall.

ESPN is in a world of hurt I feel. I don't KNOW that - aside from the layoffs but yeah, I sense they're doing horribly.

Of course they're doing horribly. The idiot ESPN execs signed that ridiculous contract for MNF rights.

And what did the NFL do for ESPN? Gave them a bunch of garbage games which even Sean Mcdonough eluded to.

ESPN is probably losing a ton of money from that MNF contract considering all the households that are cutting traditional cable which means no ESPN subscription, which means less revenue.

To be honest I don't much care, I think ESPN is total scum. Worldwide leader of sports my ass!

If ESPN wasn't owned by Disney they would have been in a world of hurt. Most likely ESPN would have went bankrupt or sold off. For now Disney is covering the losses for ESPN. The MNF contract was the biggest mistake I've ever seen. How do these execs get their jobs? Talk about failing upwards!
