Seasons over before it ever started! He is expected to get a second opinion next week.

We weren’t going to compete this year anyways, may as well give him a year to rest up.

As long as his spirit is up for it, there’s no reason to shelf him quite yet.

Any chance they could petition MLB and have him behind the umpire during games to coach up his replacement between innings.

It might just work gearing up for the postseason.

Well, at least we won't have to spend half the season wondering about his "day to day" status.

Damn. At this rate I think FT DH is in his near future.

I really really really want Salvy to make the HOF but I think he needs a few more all star games as a catcher.

And stupidly one more WS win would make a big difference. Because that's how baseball rolls.

I will literally fight anyone who ever questions Salvy's drive, toughness or desire to win. He is a golden god as far as I am concerned. Easily my second favorite Royal after Brett.

Man I hope he somehow makes the HOF.

I mean, I didn't have high expectations but that's still a bit of a shot to the boys.

For as big as he is, as hard as he plays, and considering it's the sport's most physically demanding position, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that Salvy would start breaking down sooner rather than later.

TJ is a freak inj for a catcher although some catchers in the past have had it. Just another shot in the leg at the Royals' rebuilding chances. Yordano's death, endless injuries w/ Zimmer, Bubba's struggles/slow development, and now the Royals' biggest trade capital is no more.

When it rains, it pours. Meh oh well...glad I saw b2b AL pennants and a WS win in my lifetime where I was old enough to remember it. I mean even if everything plays out perfectly and KC hits some HR's in the draft, the Royals aren't going to be competitive for 5-6 yrs.

I apologize ahead for my lack of Royal knowledge and bb in general anymore but isn’t it about time he makes that position change that most catchers do after as many years as he’s been behind the plate?

Should have moved him to 1B or DH a few years ago.

What? Dayton Moore said he expects them to win the division?

He loses almost all of his value if you move him, he's a plus defensive catcher and his offense plays in the upper level of the league there.

As a 1B/DH you lose basically all of his D value and as an offensive player he's average at best compared to the rest of the league.

Also the Royals are probably closer than 6 years but it's going to require some good drafts and international signings to pan out.

Come on. This is simple stuff. Dude is a career .739 OPS guy. Has negative value at first base.

I would agree if he had the bat for it and this was a knee or back issue

It seems like he hits really well in the first half of the year. Ned rarely gives him a day off and he struggles later on in the season.

actually, as long as his arm heals well, the year of rest might help his legs.

Just looking for the bright side.

I don't think his bat is good enough for either. Not sure about his defense at first.

Get a full recovery on him and flip for best offer.
