This. I love it that our defense is finally coming together and being both coached and run by highly competent people who want to compete with Mahomes and the offense for prestige. It's everything I've ever asked.

I'd bet he's not satisfied yet and will keep looking under rocks, in trashcans and anywhere else you might find a TE2 or 3 depending on the new blood already in house. I may be wrong though, he might be happy as a pig in shit and take a vacay to Boca for the next 3 months.

I’ve never seen a fan base so infatuated with the TE2 position. Sure, would would be great to have backups who would start for other teams.. but no team is stacked top to bottom with no weakness.

Isn’t Rhodes better then Wayne’s?

Rhodes is their #1 CB but Waynes allows a 68 QB rating in press man coverage and is a top 10 CB vs the run. Waynes allows a 98 QB rating in zone coverage and since the Vikings play more zone than man coverage, his overall rating is just slightly above average. Waynes is in the last year of his contract and it's doubtful they will resign him so that would seem to make him the more available of the two. A 68 QB rating in press man coverage and top 10 vs the run would be a good fit at LCB in Spags defense, imo.

Last year we had 3 players. That was basically it because Speaks was a rookie playing out of position and Tanoh barely even played.

Now we have 2 strong pass rushers (Jones/Clark) with a nice complimentary rusher (Okafor), a decent contributor in a contract year (Ogbah), a pass rusher with some experience playing his natural position (Speaks) and an athletic as hell rookie to mix in (Saunders).

Then you have Attouchu as a rushing backer who has decent pass rush talent for his position and athleticism to line up on the LOS in different situations.

There’s going to be a lot different options for this team. I feel like the depth is so much better overall.

MAHOMO 4 LIFE!

Who the **** cares really. Did it hurt having a turd like Harris as a backup last year??

A second TE doesn’t matter…until it does.

Last season Travis Kelce had 103 receptions and 150 targets. Patrick Mahomes threw to Travis over 25% of the time during the season. In the AFC Championship game New England limited Travis to 3 catches. Demetrius Harris was of no help with 1 catch for 2 yards.

After striking gold with drafting Travis Kelce, KC has gone with Demetrius Harris, Blake Bell, Deon Yelder, David Wells, Alex Ellis, Ross Travis, Orson Charles, James O’Shaughnessy, Brian Parker, Phillip Supernaw, Sean McGrath, and Anthony Fasano (picked up same year as Kelce). Others that never made the actual team are Jace Amaro, Richard Gordon, Adam Schiltz, and Ryan Taylor. Players added for this year include Blake Bell and Logan Parker.

Not advocating that KC needs to use a high round draft pick or sign a high dollar free agent to fill this role but at least make something other than a minimum effort to help this position.

Kansas City Chiefs would have been a better team last year with free agent TEs Eric Ebron 2 year $13 M contract, with 66 catches, 750 yards, and 13 TDs or Benjamin Watson $2 M contract, 35 catches, 400 yards, 2 TDs or having drafted a 4th round picks Chris Herndon, 39 catches, 502 yards, and 4 TDs or Ian Thomas 36 catches, 333 yards and 2 TDs.

So having a GOOD second TE isn’t critical but it would make the Chiefs a better team.

Sorry. Carry on with our DL is very good and I do like what Brett Veach has done with this position.

Except teams line up in 2 and 3 tight end sets all the time, whereas most #2 quarterbacks don't see the field and are backing up at the most protected position. So basically, there's no comparison asshat.

I feel like people are somehow forgetting:
1) the playoff game against the Colts where Kelce got injured, and
2) the value of a second TE/in-line blocker/H-back in the passing and running games.

Maybe Blake Bell is much better than I realize. Either way, I assume Veach will get a better player there before the season.

We have two very good fullbacks. I've said it before, but I can't help but wonder if they aren't going to convert Sherman to TE2. Great blocker, great hands when thrown to, and he lined up wide as a TE a couple of times last year...

Even if they don't do that, there's still 4 months until week 1. There's plenty of time to address TE2, which is clearly most important position in all of football based on the incessant ranting of some..
