This is becoming a joke

Dude is 3rd all-time in receiving yards for the Chiefs. As a Chiefs WR, only Otis Taylor has more yards and that's only about 150 more.

Say what you will about the goofy bastard, but statistically he's one of KC's best WR.

Yeah it's been three years since he played, his timing is a bit ridiculous, but no doubt he should retire a Chief. He has a good chance to be on the Ring of Fame.

Bowe was maddening. He'd make some ridiculous one handed catch while falling out of bounds with two defenders draped all over him, and then drop two that hit him in the hands while he was standing alone in the endzone.

Anyway, he gave us a handful of joyful moments during an era of great sadness. And he didn't go to Denver. So it works for me.

He had dog shit at QB as well

Also dog shit was his WR competition on a team that lost a lot more than it won.

Bowe was alright, but his stats were always inflated. The whole 'bad QB' stuff isn't a great argument. Bad QB's tend to force the ball to their best player more often than good QB's.

His best seasons were with Cassel precisely BECAUSE Cassel sucked and would force the ball.

I won't dog him too much for his 55% career catch rate given how bad the QB's were, but eh. He was alright. He sure wasn't 'great' especially given his penchant for dropping important passes late in games.

Bowe got a lot of garbage time experience padding his stats.

Oddly enough I hate Pioli more than Cassel.

Cassel was always shit, and was always obviously shit. When they traded for/signed him I said "He might be marginally better than Tyler Thigpen. He's pretty bad at throwing the football, which is a trait I value in quarterbacks."

I hate pioli because his REFUSAL to accept this obvious fact crippled this franchise for years. Cassel was just a bad player. The real idiots are the ones who couldn't see that even though it's their goddamn job.

Look at one of Clay's Bowe Show highlight videos he made. The guy was a YAC animal. The fucking best WR with the ball in his hands in the division for most of his NFL career. And that dynamic Cassel 15 TD season wasn't all Matty throwing at the crossbar and having Bowe go get it. It was the 10-15 yard outs that Bowe would then turn into TDs because he ruined some CB's shit and hulked him out of the way.

I loved watching Bowe play, and it saddens me that you dipshits can't appreciate or have fun when a player like that is on your team.

Mostly what I remember about Bowe was how much fun he made Chiefs football for awhile. And he was pretty much the only thing that was fun until Charles got going at the end of 2009.

Even when the dude sucked ass he was kinda fun and then Haley turned him into a monster for three seasons.

And then he got Smith'd.

I'll always maintain that Bowe could have had a much better career if he hadn't hooked up with Captain Checkdown at just about the worst possible time.

Tyreek Hill is a badass but I still preferred watching Bowe at his best.

This 1 day contract stunt with Bowe has cheapened the Charles and DJ tributes.

Bowe was/is a clown. Arguably the dumbest fucking Chief to ever suit up for the franchise. He had talent and skill, but not a ton of work ethic or drive. He lucked into a situation where Dorsey had to pay him big, and he dumb-assed his way into pretty much losing everything. He played it up for the fans and loved the fame, but ultimately fizzled into a JAG because he was always a bit of a pretender. A likeable, harmless dude who couldn’t put it all together.

Well, bye Dwayne.

He lucked? At the time he was going to receive a pretty damn good WR contract whether he stayed in KC or not. That's not luck. That's production.

See? This is the shit I'm talking about. You fucking hate Bowe. Why? What the fuck did he ever do to you? Drop a pass? You mean throughout all the Croyle/Huard/Thigpen/Cassel bullshit years, THAT'S what still sticks in your craw?

And look, yes, I've already admitted I like Bowe and what he did for the Chiefs, but it only comes across as me being some kind of psycho super fan because there are too many irrational dipshits who think the Chiefs were too good for a player like Bowe.

Bowe's not a very intelligent or sensible individual. He said and did a lot of stupid shit. But he was likeable, entertaining, and put his heart into the team, and gave us SOMETHING to cheer for through some dark years.

I give respect for that as a fan. And I prefer that over the way Eric Berry fucked the team after we showed loyalty to him through his fight with cancer.

Bowe wasn't a JAG.

He was a borderline elite WR at his best, and at his worst was still a serviceable starter.

Bowe had his dumbass brain to contend with, Charles had his dumbass legs to contend with.

Production-wise they were relatively equal and hindered by their own personal fatal flaws.

Oh fuck, get over yourself.

I don’t hate Bowe. He had his moments. What I hate is how some put him on a pedestal of greatness as if he was some great, iconic player. He never had the drive/work ethic to become truly elite. Would you regard him as a player that struck fear into opponents? Nah. A competent #1 guy for some years sure, but not elite.

Not Ring of Honor worthy. Entertaining player. That’s it. He can come bang the drum sometime down the road....

Who's putting him on a pedestal of greatness? I agree with you-- he was entertaining. REALLY entertaining. Like I said... I think people are under-appreciating the kinds of plays he could make on the field. All in the midst of a horrible drought of Chiefs football.

Why does every player have to be HOF-worthy for fans to appreciate them? "Truly elite." What the fuck does that even mean? Top 10 NFL WR? Yes, Bowe was that for a few seasons of his career. Name the Chiefs WRs in franchise history who have done much better than that. I'll wait.

And I'm not directing this ire at you. A thread gets started about him and half the people shit on him for the usual shit. The Sonic jokes are funny, but some assholes do nothing but "DROPS DROPS DROPS DROPS!!!!!" whenever Bowe's name comes up.

Fuck this thread. It reminds me of the dark ages when I had to defend Bowe from moron assholes who blamed losses on him in spite of the shitty QBs who couldn't hit the broad side of a fucking barn.

The same people shitting on Bowe will simultaneously elevate distinctly average guys like JJ Birden and Willie Davis.

Because you know, they never acted like a young proud black man with all that stuntin' on the field!

After Otis Taylor and Tyreek Hill (if you extrapolate), Dwayne Bowe is easily the third best WR in franchise history.

And only Tony Gonzalez caught more balls in KC.

Haters, get fucked.

All I know is Bowe had an 8-10 game stretch that was as good as any receiver in NFL history - with Matt Cassel as his QB.

That is insane.

If Bowe had Reid coaching him up his whole career...? What could have been.

This parade of wasted careers is saddening. And sobering as well. these guys are a prime example and reason of why I want to get as much talent on this team as possible. None of those three guys were psychotics, murderers, or rapists. I think that goes to show that we can get the job done picking up guys who have a slight troubled history in their background and smaller things that we can work with. Dwayne Bowe's weed problem sounds like a long ago dream compared to our recent turn of events.

If Bowe had Mahomes, holy hell what a receiver he could have been. Great Chief. Took way too much shit from losers in this fan base.

I like Bowe and all but he dropped a lot of balls. I remember from a Demetrius Harris thread that Bowe was the worst in the league a couple of years for drops. Hard to imagine many people liking any player that had more drops than Harris. Last year was Harris exception. He had a good year.

Dwayne Bowe is one of the best WR's in the history of the team, that is an indictment for how bad this teams WRs have been as much as praise for him.

I loved Bowe. And it's clear that he responded very well to coaching that held him accountable, coaching that took a genuine interest in his ability to produce.
And lastly, I will lay at least three quarters of his drops on the shitty placement of footballs by the shitty quarterbacks that he had to work with.

"Trust Alex, get smashed"!

Yep.

Last time he played was 2015 one year for the Browns. Started 7 games, made 5 catches (on 13 targets) for a total of 53yds and no TDs.
