I wouldn't mind seeing him on the roster. We could perhaps show the Raiders how they should have used him. He'd also be a good leader.

John Kurtz‏ @jlkurtz

Jordy Nelson tells us on @TheGameKMAN that he and his family did discuss playing for the @Chiefs if they were interested.

"That was one option we did possibly look at. They better make that call pretty quick because each day I'm getting more and more out of shape."

To clarify, when I said I wouldn't mind seeing him on the roster, I meant that he would need to compete for and earn the spot.

I too am willing to come out of retirement to play for the Chiefs. But they'd better call quickly, because I'm 56 years old.

Maybe as a Tight End number 3? He is too slow to beat out any receiver we have right now.

This! When he talks about being out of shape and our receivers showed up for OTA's looking like they have been training for America Ninja - I don't think he has a shot.

Look at the vids of Mahomes and Reek training in the offseason. We don't have a place for slackers on this team.

Fix the lead in headline FFS

Former NFL wide receiver Jordy Nelsosdn sounds ready and willing to play for the Kansas City Chiefs if there’s any interest on their part to bring him in.

TE2/3 spot, why the fuck not.

Last time he was good was when Rodgers was his QB. Since Rodgers went down, he had Kizer and Carr throwing him the ball. Would be fun to see if he had a revival with Pat.

Only if things turn south on multiple points, like if Watson gets hurt and Hill goes to jail.

I’d take him. Why not?

Hill is up in the air. Were lucky if Watkins stays healthy all year. Hardman sounds like a nice draft pick but we still don’t know??, DRob has been pretty good in the limited amount of playing time but regardless small sample size on him and the rest of the crew is uncertain.

At this point, we should be thinking that we could never have enough wideouts.

My thoughts exactly... Granted a QB like Mahomes will always make guys around him better but our D is a big question mark. Chances are we are going to have to score a lot of pts in certain games. The more weapons we give Mahomes, the better.

And I don't see how having Nelson is going to hurt us with UDFA... If there is a stud UDFA on the roster and he shines in practice/preseason we can just cut Nelson.

He had a great year in 2016 with 14 TD’s and 1257 yards.

In 2017 he went from Rodgers to Kizer, and that’s a ****ing joke. They had no run game either.

In 2018 he goes to Oakland, in the first year of a new system with a career back up in Carr. Also a joke.

Stats: https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/11270/jordy-nelson

I’m not saying he’ll be great, or even good, but I don’t see what the risk of bringing him to camp would be, especially given the similarities of Mahomes and Rodgers.

Bring him in give him a physical, check him for worms, give him an enema and put him on a strict pumpkin seed diet only for 2 weeks. Tell him if he doesn’t catch every ball targeted at him it will all be repeated for every dropped pass. That’s what San Francisco did to Jerry Rice and that seemed to turn out not too bad.

I'm not really interested in using a roster spot on him. I don't mind giving him a shot in camp, I guess, but if he makes the team it's a bad sign, IMO.

I think Hill and Hardman working deep routes, with Jordy and Kelce working the middle/mid routes, would be pretty freaking impossible to stop.

Buckweath
06-06-2019, 07:57 AM
I would definitly welcome him to this team.

With the uncertainty surrounding Hill, a veteran like Nelson who probably still has something left in him would provide insurance.

Watkins is often injured.

Hardman is a rookie.

You never know when your star WR or TE might be lost for the season.

This team could definitly use a cheap veteran WR.

Wouldn't hate it just to have someone be that reliable hands guy but i'd prefer going young.

If Hill is playing with the other guys they have on offense they won't see much man coverage i doubt so it would be nice to have a guy that can find zones and make catches.

Meh.

I don't see him reaching the top 3 on the DC, and I don't like vets at 4 and 5.

Say we keep six WRs. Nelson isn't going to be above Hill, Watkins, or Robinson which means he'd most likely have to contribute on special teams. I guess you could put Robinson out there instead of a 34 year old Nelson, but how would that affect D-Rob's game later in the year after taking a beating on special teams all season? And what would that do to Mecole Hardman? Tremon Smith is our kick returner, so I guess he could split time with Tyreek at punt returner? And that's not even bringing up keeping one of the young WR guys off the roster.

Now, if Hill is suspended for any amount of time, much less 4 or more games, I think it's no issue at all to bring Jordy in here.
