I dunno. They usually do that for guys who make it to the final round of cuts. These guys aren't even going to training camp now.

You'd think after having to search the waiver wire/trash heap for the past 5 years or so they'd finally try to make a serious investment at #2 TE.

Mecca
06-13-2019, 02:56 PM
Anymore you don't even really need a second TE other than an athletic guy that can cause a mismatch.

Teams now when they go big just use a backup OT as a blocking TE..since the Chiefs are carrying Sherman they should teach him to do some of it too since well that would be helpful.

Harris was fine as a TE2. You only have so many draft picks and so much money.

Most teams have shit at TE2.

It's really interesting how quickly they can tell if a guy has it or not. So much more information seems to be there from just minicamps vs. college tape. I'm sure picking up the playbook is one of the factors.

I don't think Sherman is big enough to handle that role. We still have Yelder and Wells. There was also some talk earlier about looking at Lovett as an H-back.

My point is that he’s about as good as it gets for a backup TE (hence why he got a nice contract form the Browns), and they were clearly fine with him. They haven’t been looking for a backup for 5 years like you suggested, this is the first.

Hyde?

I like him too, he's not really a sleeper though. He's a proven hardnosed RB who just needs to improve in the passing game. Andy Reid's specialty is teaching the passing game. If Hyde becomes even a decent route runner then he is a legit starting caliber RB. We will have a quality pair of RBs that complement each other really well. Williams is a good passing game/edge runner. Hyde is a hardnosed runner between the tackles.

I think Darwin could do a heck of a job at being our Edelmann/Sproles

Return punts, Catch the ball out of the backfield, Run a lot of short routes as a WR. He's quick and great at making people miss. I'm not sure his vision is good enough to be a fulltime runningback at the NFL level.
