View Full Version : Chiefs Let’s talk about the upside of this offense

With the Cheetah back in the fold all season, this offense may look even better on paper than last year...

I don’t know that the production is the same, but man for man, they appear more dangerous... sure Hunt is better than Williams, but I think the RB room is filled with depth that can fill out roles...

The WR room is as deep as it is stout. Speed and more speed. If Hardman can pick things up quick, look out...

If we can avoid catastrophic injuries, I see no reason why this isn’t a 12-16 win team.... yeah, I said it...

Now go fap away with these Tyreek highlights: https://youtu.be/uDwlF_hgFjI

If the defense is league average or better, we’ll go 15-1 or 16-0

If it’s in the lower 20s, we’ll probably win 12.

The offense is going to be legendary (again). Possibly better than last year. Mahomes has a year under his belt, we’ve added Hard Man, Watkins seems to be primed for a good year, we just need Kelce to come back healthy. Hopefully the preseason allows to shake off any rust.

Not to mention Reid expanding the playbook (with some help from Pat, I’m sure) and Bienemy not being stolen away. It’s a perfect storm, really.

I am interested to see what happens at the RB position. Wanna see Darwin Thompson in action badly, he seems like an obvious steal and a great fit in this offense. Hyde and D Will 2 should compete for some carries as well.

I think Kelce is key here. We can afford a WR injury, but not one at TE.

If Darwin Thompson turns into a Darren Sproles or Tarik Cohen type of player this offense could go down as the best ever. Thompsons burst and allusiveness is off the charts along with his pass catching ability out of the backfield. We all know you cant play zone vs. Mahomes and that cannon of an arm. The Colts figured that out the hard way. Play man and Thompson is singled on a linebacker with choice routes out of the backfield. Absolute field day ALL.DAY.LONG! Just too many weapons to defend.

Good luck to the Patriots and their cover 1 blitzes. You shade McCourty over Hill like you did in the AFC game and other half of the field is getting burnt by Mecole.

Offense is going to be unstoppable. There's not enough talent on really any NFL defense to schematically contain what we have. Only thing stopping us is an off night from Mahomes and O-Line injuries.

I wouldn't say Williams > Hunt, as I think Hunt is better. But the drop off is absolutely minimal as Williams is faster than Hunt but Hunt is more powerful and harder to tackle. But Williams having a full year as the primary back, he's about to have an absolute career year.

Also, Darwin Thompson is about to break out the second half of the year// I'm fucking ready for Mahomes to have 98 TDS and 6235 yards

This team is already tight. The offense are all very close and Honey Badger is leading the defense.

Teams are going to have to beat us for four quarters straight to win- if they let up in the fourth we can put a lot of points on the board in a hurry.

I want to beat the Faders, Donks, Chargers and Pats twice each this year including the playoffs.

A few things....
I hope Hardman will be used not just as a receiver but as a receiving option DAT was supposed to be. We need an underneath option who can also get tons of YAC.

Mahomes will be better. Ravens and Pats found a blueprint to scheme him as best they can. No doubt Reid has found a fix. And Brandon Daly is a wildly underrated move for our offense. He will make sure mahomes sees these fronts in practice.

Williams is fine. But mahomes has to be better at finding the check down when needed. Darwin will help us get the bowling ball yards we used to get with kareem.

I loved hearing mahomes say was he's working on his footwork. I actually think he's been too inaccurate on the deep stuff and I hate when he throws off his back foot when he doesn't need to. We were awesome on long plays. It's amazing to think we should have been even better.

Robinson in Conleys role is intriguing. I don't know that Robinson can ever be a 1 or 2 receiver. His value seems to be being mahomes' #1 improv option and the two have terrific chemistry when mahomes starts moving around. Conley struggled with separation. His value seemed to be being open when mahomes went through all his reads. So that seems like a really really good fit for Robinson.

The Kansas City Chiefs Offense will be awesome and I am looking forward to watching it.

BUT

Every NFL defense that plays KC is going to circle the date they play KC and their defensive coordinator will be looking ahead at what the Chiefs are doing. When an NFL Team plays against the best offense, they are going to be trying to come up with ways to try and at least slow us down. I think Andy Reid will plan for that and we will see quicker releases but our offense will have to be flexible with what teams throw at us.

chiefzilla1501
07-19-2019, 02:06 PM
Nope. Darwin will be the DAT you think Hardman will be. Darwin fits the role much better IMHO.

I should rephrase... I think the Chiefs WANTED DAT to be a replacement for Albert wilson. We miss Wilson. Darwin and Damien are good checkdown and screen options. But Wilson was a guy you could use for jet sweeps and to run or sometimes sprint underneath the coverage. We saw what happened in New England when we can't throw underneath our vertical routes. Defenses are going to more and more stack deep to stop us. We need to punish them when they do. What intrigues me about Hardman isn't just his speed, it's his agility. That's a great weapon for that role.

ThyKingdomCome15

How about Chiefs run a double decoy with Hardman and Hill. When the ball is snapped nobody will be looking at Mahomes. And Mahomes wont looking at anybody either because he throws a no look 60 yard bomb, dropped on a dime, to Sammy Watkins of whom catches the ball one handed and literally walks into the end zone!!!

Yeah, it has been hilarious to listen to the majority of the national sports media's narrative that PM2 will take a step back. I think he matches last year if not surpasses his numbers assuming we have limited health issues along the way.

Here is what separates Mahomes from the other young QBs who struggle. Besides having a bazooka for an arm and instinct and maturity of a 35 y.o. vet he desires and works hard at being a thorough student of the game and just happens to have a coach that specializes in beating defenses who he knows how to prepare for even IF they have the tape and who has been in this position before and will make sure PM2 stays ahead of their game and what to look for.

Just too much firepowerno matter how much film they watch. How well they plan a defense, They send Hardman and Hill on deep routes and by some miracle they are both covered by a CB and safety. Mahomes has no where to go deep.

How are they going to cover Kelsey one on one over the middle? Or the RB gets past the LB’s? There is going to be a lot of chunks of yards available to be taken advantage of by Mahomes.

IMO, Hunt is the best back in football.

Everyone produces in Andy's offense, and ultimately RB doens't matter THAT much... but you watch Hunt shed 2 guys, leap a dude, and then plow a guy 5 years into the endzone. He's ****ing awesome. Always at the top of yards AFTER contact.

Williams was a 3rd string pass catching back. He didn't become awesome. Andy's run scheme is awesome. He just panics and abandons it too often.

Damien should absolutely feast.

Agreed. But every back will feast especially Darwin who can be used in several other positions.

All of our weapons on offense can beat man coverage and take it to the house.

And our offensive line is pretty good, too.

I keep seeing it posted that teams are going to have to play a safety deep so Reek won't burn them- and then another safety to cover Kelce?

Seems like a mismatch and that leaves zero run support.

So does that leave a linebacker on Williams? Huge mismatch.

Or you use a CB or LB to try and cover Kelce and leave your safety in for run support and swing passes? Mismatch on Kelce.

Or am I overthinking this? :hmmm:

You went full Boss Chief ROFL

I never went that far...but we topped 50 last year...and likely will again this year.

I’m also sticking by my comment of Mahomes have got the potential to have games with more than 600 yards.

Nobody is going to be able to stop this offense.

It’s probably the most talented offense in history.

you can't play man defense against this team

we're gonna face 7 and 8-man zones all year long

mecole will catch 500 2-yard drags and run for 20 yards

this is gonna be so easy for patrick

and if there's pressure he'll just use his special madden ability, roll out and chuck it deep to someone on a blown coverage

YAHTZEE!

The opener should be as good of a shot any NFL team will have against Pat.

Jack is as good as it gets at LBers that can run with Kelce.

2 good corners

Strong DL to create pressure

Time to prepare.

And the offense will likely still put up 40 and put the rest of the NFL on notice.

Exactly, so you put your #1 CB on Reek which gives you 50/50 shot of covering him- then a safety deep, for half the time your #1 can't cover.

2 of your defensive pieces are off the board.

Your #2 CB on Watkins, #3 CB on DRob a Safty on Kelce.

5 Defensive players off the board- Correct?

So that leaves you 6 Defensive players. If you rush 4 guys- that leaves 2 to cover the entire middle of the field and your LB #1 on Williams-which would still be a mismatch.

Rush 3 and drop 3 back to cover short-yardage- Mahomes has all day and you better hope your secondary does not get burned deep.

What if they line up Hardman as well? You will have to use your CB#4 or a LB which looks like a huge mismatch.

D Coordinators can disguise blitzes and try to confuse Mahomes- but that does not change the fact we have players that create consistent mismatches in man coverage and Reek will have to be left 1 on 1 if you want any kind of decent run support.

I would love to see some of the Defensive minded guys on here make a thread to explain how the Chiefs will not have some kind of edge nearly every play? :hmmm:

Have to diasagree with this. Reid & the Chiefs are the ones benefitting most from having time to prepare. Whether it's coming off a bye week or a season opener, they have proven their ability to out scheme and out match their opponents. I would give the Bears and the Patriots better odds of beating the Chiefs than the Jaguars.

The only loss that really bothers me is Hunt because

A. He would have been absolutely dominant with this supporting cast

B. We need defenses to respect the running game to really open up the potential of the passing attack. Defenses did not want to let Kareem beat them. I’m thinking they’ll be happy to let Williams do so until he proves that he commands attention.

I'm pretty happy to have a team whose biggest concern on offense is the backup tight end.

I agree. Last year he looked like a rookie sometimes trying to do too much. I think he’ll have that ironed out this year now that he has experience.

Here’s a good example of an easy one he missed last year that I don’t think he will this year:

<a href="https://imgflip.com/gif/3637te"><img src="https://i.imgflip.com/3637te.gif" title="made at imgflip.com"/></a>

Kelce was open at the sticks:

<a href="https://imgflip.com/gif/36382n"><img src="https://i.imgflip.com/36382n.gif" title="made at imgflip.com"/></a>

Need the end on view of this, it looks to me although Kelce is free the Dlinemen are completely blocking the throwing lane.

Deon Yelder is the most likely candidate. He was hurt during OTA’s but should be full go by training camp. I think most will be pleasantly surprised by what he brings to the table. He’s an athletic kid with a lot of run after the catch ability and seems to be a willing blocker.

Bell and Lovett will fight it out for the #3 spot.

Chiefs play several great defenses this year: Jags, Ravens, Patriots, Broncos. They can all run the ball. If we score 30+ on them it might be because Hardman and/or Hill are killing teams on returns. I don't expect high yardage totals, but Special Teams might help win field position. I'm looking for better Special Teams production this year. Teams should improve with defensive schemes, but all that can be offset with great field position.
