View Full Version : Chiefs Why are we playing a team in preseason that we will face in regular season?

I dont usually keep up with preseason, but isnt the fourth game usually the one all your starters are in for like 3 quarters?

We play the Packers in the regular season so it seems a bit horseshit to me that we would be scheduled against them in preseason at all, let alone a game where our starters are in for a majority of the game.

Does this happen often? Seems like if we played them at all it should have been the first or second game.

I believe it's the 3rd game that the starters will see the most playing time.

Yes. The 4th game they usually sit the starters. The 4th game is generally the least interesting of the 4 games.

The 4th game is usually where no starters play and it's all backups.

That is the way I remember it. 4th game is desperation time for guys trying to make the team.

Thats way better then. No opportunity to get some tape/game experience on our starters in a game that doesnt count.

4th game is the one I always wager on. But I’m a degenerate.

NFL knows that other teams need at least two attempts to have a chance against the Chiefs.

Why Not?

4th game has no starters and beyond vanilla play calling. We could play every team on our 16 game schedule in the preseason and with the personnel and the play calling in a game 4 scenario, they wouldn’t glean shit.

Probably a ratings thing. Mahomes/Rodgers etc.

Games 2 and 3 are the only ones worth watching. Game 4 only if you are interested about particular guys on the bubble of either making the team or getting cut.

That is weird. I didn't pay attention so I didn't realize it until this thread. Does that happen often? I can't remember having a team in pre season and regulard season...well, maybe St. Louis Rams I guess?

the chiefs are going to run darrell williams up the center's ass 20 times in that game and throw slants and screens the rest of the snaps

who cares

In most cases you surely don't want to show your hand of the level of speed/talent BUT I say it doesn't matter because we will be that dominant regardless if a team gets a taste of us in pre-season or not. Mahomes going to Mahomes AGAIN in Heinz just reminding them what he did to them last year "in their house".

That’s what I figure. The 2 best QBs in the NFL or tricking John Q. Public into thinking both will be playing. The public prolly doesn’t know any different is the sad part, lol.

Last preseason game is played generally with a team that is most geographical to each. Chiefs/Packers have been playing each other last for a few seasons now.

Game 4 should be a Chase Litton showcase!

Just means it will be the ugliest football game you have ever seen. Neither team will play their starters and both teams will run the vanillaist game plan of vanilla plans.

Too bad we can’t play the Raiders, Broncos or Chargers in preseason.

It would be fun to beat them 3 times a year

4th game is for figuring out practice squad, 3rd level depth and deciding between two players who are at the bottom of the roster to see who gets cut.
