This is incredible news.
Most intial patellar dislocations don't get surgery, but with no damage at all they wont even consider it.

With mild cartilage damage he likely wouldn't get surgery, but on a personal level he would be at high risk for arthritis in that joint in the future.

IIRC, 6-8 weeks. So if Mahomes misses 3 games + bye, that should put both of their returns in the same general time frame.

And hopefully Chris Jones too.

The bittersweet thing of Mahomes getting injured and missing a few weeks is: 1. his knee injury appears to be best case 2. it will give him a chance to rest and allow his body to heal overall.

No need to rush him, but at the same time, we will need him back out there (no shit, sherlock)

Hats off to the Doctor who popped in back in. Can you imagine the pressure? National TV audience watching. Thats the MVP’s kneecap your popping in. You **** this up, your toast. You know the sooner it gets popped back in, it lessens the recovery time or damage to ligaments. So you just do it. Ballsy.Honestly, though, it's not a difficult thing to do. I've seen emergency personnel at local games do that (and similar). Hell, LDT should have reached over and done it.

If he’s healthy and you need the Chargers game, he plays. If not, give him another two weeks.

Yes, and hopefully we can get one against the next two to take some pressure off.

Do that and beat the Raiders, then you can sit him for two more weeks.

Keep in mind we have an elite offensive system. Any QB even a back up should come in and put up a 90 to 95 QB rating at minimum.

Ryan Leaf couldn't fail in this offense.

After the bye, the earliest. I wouldn't subject him to whatever field conditions might await in Mexico. nor the additional flight/change in altitude of going there as it seems less than ideal for swelling and overall health of the knee. Even if he sits out till the Tennessee game, you don't bring him back and then bench him again for precautionary reasons.

Right. It’s the NFL. Unless you have a totally garbage roster(Miami), most games are relatively close to 50/50 anyway. You generally look at the QB’s and the coaches to try to see who may have an advantage. The gap between Moore and Rodgers is ****ing canyon sized but it’s still not the gap from Reid to LaFluer. We’ll see how that translates to the game but to think we’re automatically 0-3 is silly. Again, look at the Vikings. The gap between Zimmer and Reid isn’t as vast as Reid to LaFluer but neither is the gap between Moore and on the road vs a team w a winning record Cousins. Then we get back to a large gap between Reid and Vrabel and the gap between Tannehill and Moore is negligible if not damn push worthy. I think we go 2-1 and won’t be shocked if it’s 3-0

It does raise the risk of it happening again. How much just depends on how much damage the patellar ligament/tendon experienced.

The data showing risk is readily available, but it is based on all-comers and not based on differing levels of soft tissue damage.
Either way he is at increased risk, but his specific risk is difficult to predict.

Based on the report of little damage on MRI, we.could definitely say his risk of reinjury is as low as can be expected given his situation.

I'd personally sit him the 4 games. Then the bye.

This team thusfar has had a feel of just "Put it all on 15 and we're good."

We got imbalanced in pass vs rush, our D was absolutely destroyed, and MVP was beat up.

With Moore at the helm, running game has to factor in, and the D needs to play like last night, every night. They cant just go out, freelance and not tackle because MVP can hang 30 on anybody.
This is Matt Moore now. Were gonna need some help from the d and more defensive scores would certainly help .

Fisher, and Wylie will be back, and he will have had 5 weeks to get right for a 5 game stretch and playoff push.

If we split tge games and are 7-4 with a 100% healthy and confident MVP, with a balanced attack on offense and a defense ready to step up and do their part, I think we go on a ****ing tear.

At minimum. Chargersx2 Raiders Broncos Tits. At worst 4-1. At least a split vs Packers, Vikings( a team with post season aspirations wins at least one of those at home)and at NE and CHI but both of those are w Patty. 6-3 at worst. 11-5 overall which is still good for a home playoff game.

Pat's next start should be against the Raiders at home. There should be no argument about this. Defense has to step it up. I could see us pull a couple of wins against the Titans and the Bolts. I will be at next Sunday night's game in Arrowhead and I expect us to lose that game. It's a bit disappointing not to see Mahomes vs Rogers in what could be the only time they ever face each other. Reid with over a week to draw up a gamelan to play to the strengths of Moore (whatever those strengths might be), is key.

It all comes down to the defense though. If they play like they did last night, anything is possible.

I'm not sure about all that. Yes it would suck to miss out on seeing Mahomes, but I fully expect us to give both the Packers and Vikings a good game.

Reid with over a week to draw up a gamelan to play to the strengths of Moore (whatever those strengths might be), is key.

It all comes down to the defense though. If they play like they did last night, anything is possible.

Yeah. I haven’t been to Arrowhead in years. Am I bummed to not see Pat live in action? Of course! However, I’d much rather see him hoist the Lombardi from my couch and the news today keeps that dream alive. I’m gonna go to the game, be loud as hell and bask in the sweet glow of attending a home game for the first time since 2007! I don’t care if Michael Moore was our QB. Still gonna be a blast!

I meant because, like in my case, I only get to one game a year. I would hate for it to be watching Matt Moore instead of Mahomes.

That’s my exact situation. It’s not ideal but it’s not like I’m not gonna go.
