So you're comparing a rogue tutor, in which MU made the NCAA aware of, to KU paying players to come play at such a historic basketball school. Its really sad that Self has stooped so low. Wonder how long KU has been doing this and how detrimental it will be to the program, since they can't pay top talent to come play anymore. Once again, so sad.

Sir, its Adidas that pays kids. Nike, UA etc. Only reason KU got nailed is due to federal wiretaps. Even Creighton and Wichita State were among the schools in on it. If your team has an apparel contract in D1 sports, some kids are getting paid. I don't know why you are being so dense

The FBI uncovered documents that named players from about 25 different schools that rec'd impermissable benefits from ONE agent.

Yes...it happens everywhere (meaning all throughout the power 5 leagues and some midmajors). This should have been obvious decades ago, especially to anyone who has ties to college athletics. But it should be incredibly obvious now to anyone whose head isn't buried.

Not so fast. Ricky Clemons ratted on Quinny Poo for paying players.

And if you think that no one since has collected, I've got an oceanfront property for you.

Plenty of teams that suck still have players that receive dough under the table. Decent players have their hands out. It's part of the game and has been for 100 years. Even Jay Bilas will tell you that.

KU has plenty of chokes and is still near the top in final fours. That's kind of impressive in itself. The only thing you can knock them for historically is their 3-6 record in national title games. And the occasional Missouri Valley upset.

Hell, even Duke/K got dropped by Lehigh and Mercer, and a score of other early round debacles.

But the point is, to laugh at those losses is sort of like a Browns fan laughing when the Patriots lose.

Not sure I've personally ever needed props from someone else about what a sports team that I cheer for did... that seems weird.

I'd think defining any season that doesn't end in a championship as a failure, especially when it comes to something you have zero control over, would make for a miserable sports fan 99% of the time though.

I doubt any Royals fan "needed props" for the 2014 season, but outside of the truly miserable fucks out there, no one would define that season as a failure by a long shot.

People who weren't there say I'm crazy when I say this, but that was the best sporting event I've ever attended in person. Probably even above the Bautista bat flip game. The ridiculous nature of the comeback and the raw emotion of the game itself were incredible. There's also no way it ever happens in any other building.

I suppose it may lose a bit of luster now that it wasn't the end of things, though.

My all time favorite sporting event that I went to was the 2009 KU @ MU game, where Zaire Taylor hit a jumper with like 1 second left to win the game. It was fucking amazing. I remember making eye contact with a security guard and mouthed "get out of the way" as we stormed the court. Literally best game ever. I'm stoked for this to start back up.
