View Full Version : Chiefs 22.64 MPH... Did someone say Tyreek Hill is fast?

This play has been mentioned before, but it deserves its own thread. (So relax Francis and the repost squad.) Old man Mackensie Alexander (ViQueen's CB) has ran a 4.47 40. He looked way slower than that when Tyreek flew by him. :D ....Hill came from a standstill to beat everyone to the end zone. That was an astounding 22.64 MPH. Damn. Why doesn't someone come up with a cool nickname that reflects his supernatural speed? :)

That play was the highlight of the day. I was awestruck, speechless. He had a supercharger along with another gear.

It was a joy to see.

But related question: how much do we think carrying the ball in this situation would've slowed him down?

The calculation is in: He would have ran 22.63999 MPH with a ball. Unless he was running on the road vs. the Donks. Then it would have been 22.658 MPH.

Although I felt bit bad for Williams whose thunder he stole by giving a “c’mon, you can get there” assist across the goal line.

It was damn impressive.
One tweet I saw, mentioned it was only the 4th fastest speed posted this year by an NFL player. O wonder who the other 3 are and what their speed was?

i dont think hill even hit full speed, he speeds up to put hands on a guy then takes off just to slow down when he gets to williams, a true freak of nature, in a wicked cool way.

He was there as a blocker -- like anyone was going to catch either of them. :thumb:

The mind blowing part to me is Hill is basically at a dead stop as Williams passes the same yard marker at full speed. So not only does he make up the angle - he starts from zero.

Also it makes me wonder how much speed running with a ball vs. w/o a ball takes off. Has to be a couple of points.

I LOL'd when he caught up to him with what seemed like ease.

He would have beat Williams by at least 5 yards if it was a race to the goal line. But then again Williams had to cut and do other things that are going to use up his anaerobic energy reserves - whereas Hill just had to saunter over to the sideline and drag two defenders with him. So Williams would be losing speed faster at the end.

Was coming in here to post that.

Tyreek is flat footed and Damien is in full stride, and Tyreek had to slow down when he caught him at the 10 yard line. Unbelievable.

i disagree williams had a running start at a point where reek was almost standing, then williams had a straight line after his juke and tyreek closes on him from an angle. its insane.

I'd seen a reference to it, and find it hilarious.

I'd think, though, that when your place of work is a football field that any such debates would be solved quickly and efficiently in practice.
