This is a massive exaggeration of the guy's talents in the Michelin scene, for what it's worth. He's a solid chef, and his flagship Royal Hospital Road location is a nice experience for a 3-star restaurant. But he's not remotely thought of as a truly great chef in the world of fine dining. He might be like the Joe Flacco of that scene - he has a Super Bowl title but no one takes him that seriously.

No doubt this is true.

However, Ramsay cooks up real food too, my man. His grilled burger approach is balls and his Shepherd's Pie sticks to the ribs.

It's not 100% accurate to label Ramsay as a posh fusion gourmand.

37 Steak my wife wanted to go there on her birthday when it opened she works at Harrah's and was curious. I got a bone in ribeye that I ordered rare it came medium at best wife got crab legs they came cold. The asparagus was good and I dont generally like asparagus. It was super expensive we could have got a better meal at Texas Roadhouse.

They had a great happy hour but it stopped after they became a ghost town.

Isle of Capri should franchise a Niecie's it would kill it in that place.

his schtick over here is embellishing the 'yelling' angle.

His show on the BBC "The F Word" was a great show; way more entertaining. He would do apisodes where they would raise, say, chickens etc, then butcher then and create a nice meal; or lamb etc. He was big on 'honoring' the animal that is giving it's life for our food ; not sure if 'honor' was the right word,..but you get the idea. There was a lot of cool stuff like that involved with that show. Not sure if it's even on now, but we used to watch it all the time.

my experience is 'most' recipes on line, or particularly the peronsality chefs...the food/ recipe is bland. and is simply a starting point that will require lots of adjustments to make it taste as good as they claim on their shows.

the few celebrity type Chefs / food people where I like their recipes pretty much right out of the gate are Ramsay, Alton Brown, and Ree Drummon (Pioneer Woman).
We made a chicken tortilla soup from PW 2 weekends ago, and it was legit. only made a few tiny adjustmets to up the heat a little, but otherwise a great recipe. Her mac and cheese is great too among others.

My wife ate at Ramsay's place in Vegas; she said it was some of the best food she's ever had.
I suspect his food here will be really good, however, I'm not sure what the prices will be. Likely so high that I'll probably never go unfortunately.
Speaking of high end pricey restaruants in KC....Pierponts...I thought that place was average at best (and I'm being generous). Steak was 'good', but not $65 good; then had to buy sides. I got mac and cheese (some fancy version) and it was awful. bland, no taste; literally looked like plain noodles with cheese sprinkled on it. not even kidding. Maybe they had a bad night; but for that kind of money, I'm not going back to give them another shot. I think we dropped like $200+ that night for a special dinner.

Let's be honest though. In places like casino restaurants, you're not paying for food made by Gordon Ramsey, you're paying for the marketing of having his name on the side of the building. Your food is gonna be cooked by pothead millennials trying to replicate a Gordon Ramsey recipe using cheap shitty sourced ingredients.

The method he describes of "pressing" your hand and wrist to establish a reference pressure for steak is the same technique I was taught by a WWII Air Force pilot years ago. My guy was stationed in Britain for a few years during the war.

It raises a question in my mind about how and when this method was developed.

I have never had any one beat my smoked, SV'd and blackened (pan seared in charcoal) ribeye, deep red in the center, bright red, leading into a dk. brown crispy edge brushed with butter. $55-60 each at home... Wouldn't pay, even in hell, for one in a restaurant. I do care about the Toffee pudding for desert so I may stop n for a Bailey's, Godiva, and espresso just to try the desert menu.

I'd like to see what Moore can actually do now that he's got Mahomes to fall back on. I think that he now knows how much to lead Hill and he certainly has Kelce's number he may be worth the watch. I think the guy (Moore) could pull out all the stops, help us win the game, and secure a back up position with Chiefs. Oh, and make the Tuna Fish regret disposing of him like a kids dead goldfish.

Let him start the game but even if up by 20, put Mahomes in at the half, and if not doing well, put Mahomes in on 2nd series of downs.

Matt Moore may have made possible for the Chiefs to have an extended season. He found that he has wings, let's give him a little flight time!

I have only known of him for a couple of years. The same things will happen to him that happens to all TV personalities. People that cook a lot even get tired of cooking shows. He is very type cast as far as what he can do in the TV industry.
The commercial I have been seeing lately where he is in a shopping store and smacks the guys hand and tell him to use the cocktail stake is horrible.

That's your opinion but he's a very successful guy and has been for many years now. He plays up the "screaming asshole" angle for American TV audiences and it was a win for him and FOX. No reason to hate on the guy, imo. He seems to do a lot of good stuff for children's charities.

Gordon Ramsey is just another chef that will be gone and forgotten in a few years like all the others. He will be referred to as the chef that was generally an ass because most people will have forgotten his name.

You could not be more wrong.

Like, hilariously wrong. He's top 5 easily of the most famous chefs in the world.

He does alot for alot of people, not just children! He had a tv show that was trying to help people in prison with cooking in the UK. Trying to get dudes to get their shit straight! He's not even an asshole, USA TV loves that shit which is why he does it. You ever seen him on Masterchef JR. Totally different guy.

Well that's your problem right there. You simply don't know.

Ramsay has been in the national spotlight for well over a decade now and his brand is only growing.

The amount of shows he hosts is a long one and his personality differs to a degree in each one.

He's already publically admitted, and you can see it with your own eyes when watching his other shows, that the screaming act is literally just an act.

He's paid to be an asshole because Americans like watching people treat others like shit. That's just the way it is.

It reminds me of that Rhythm + Flow show on Netflix in which T.I, Cardi B and Chance the Rapper host what's essentially a Rap-battle talent show.

T.I says on stage (paraphrasing here) , "Sorry, they pay me more everytime i'm rude to ya'll".

The screaming asshole reality T.V schtick has been a staple in mainstream American reality T.V for two decades now.

Exactly. This should be universally understood.

Ramsay is doing what his producers are asking him to do, which is based on their analytical data of what Americans tune in for.

Are you expecting him to yell at children or something? Nobody is going to be an asshole on that show. You can't be.

If you act the way he does in real life - you won't get very far. That is why I'm sure it's an act for TV. But it still is annoying.

The cocktail stick commercial is a prime example of this. USE THE COCKTAIL STICK

*girl jumps onboard* USE THE COCKTAIL STICK

*America loves it*

I'm not even judging, I love it too. I have no idea why. The first season of Hell's Kitchen was a total LOLshow. At one point he takes some shitty plate of food and smears it on some amateur chef's apron. I loved it. Yeah take that you pretender DONKEY

Also I should probably mention that Ramsay's character in Hell's Kitchen isn't just because America loves assholes on their reality TV.

A lot of people can cook, but that doesn't' make them a chef. Can you cook under intense pressure with 14 tickets ordered up and shit goes south in the kitchen? Are you mentally adroit enough to consistently put out quality food under those conditions?

A lot of chefs put their new employees under intense pressure to see if they can handle it. Long before Gordon Ramsay made it famous.

I must be the only person on the planet that despises cooking shows. Why would you want to watch people cook - and the not get to eat it? Just baffling.

Personally I'm not a fan. I think almost all TV Chefs are overrated and are well known for their personalities with their food being overrated.

I've eaten at several of his restaurants and they are excellent.

No doubt this is true.

However, Ramsay cooks up real food too, my man. His grilled burger approach is balls and his Shepherd's Pie sticks to the ribs.

It's not 100% accurate to label Ramsay as a posh fusion gourmand.

I love Gordon Ramsey's BRGR in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood. Great hamburgers. Unfortunately when I was there last month it wasn't as good as usual. Not sure what happened there. But every other time has been amazing.

He's a different guy depending on which show he's hosting.

Pretty much tells ya the "Asshole" persona is just for American T.V.

Americans like assholes treating people like shit.

I came to post this same thing. I really enjoy his British shows but can't stand his American ones. On his British shows he seems like a legit good guy who wants to help people.

Terribly overrated place. His fine dining is much better, though. Hells kitchen is actually very affordable.

Although every restaurant that is my favorite is not run or was created by a tv chef.

Never got into the celebrity chef stuff (though I liked Bordain's Parts Unknown a great deal). Just make my damned dinner. I paid a lot for it.

Something has absolutely changed. Maybe they have a new head chef or something. Some buddies and I hit Vegas the weekend of the NCAA football conference championship games every year. For years, we hit BurGR(named that way for his initials)for our Friday night dinner. Food was always amazing. Did so per usual in 2017. Bland and tasteless. Also around the time the spelling of the name changed. Maybe it’s under an entirely different ownership group and they just pay to use his name. Either way, last year and moving forward, we are elsewhere. But his steakhouse at Paris still is the Saturday night restaurant every year.

Why Not?
