The garbage known as the Oakland Raiders have been disposed of. Time for a real opponent.

It's the fucking Patriots.

Patriots open as early 4 point favorites.

Discuss.

I'd like to see a healthy dose of Darwin Thompson, regardless if either of the Williams are healthy.

This game is going to be a slugfest, and should give us a good idea of what kind of expectations we should have going into the playoffs.

Should be an epic matchup.

Our offense has looked mortal. No reason to think that's going to change against the Patriots.

Our defense has shown flashes. If we can stop Edelman from having his normal stat line on slants and crossing routes, I like our chances.

Give us 1-2 TOs and we got it.

pugsnotdrugs19

We could do ourselves a lot of favors by giving Darwin and LeSean RB touches ONLY. They’re the best we’ve got.

From there, has to be a team effort with minimal penalties.

I’m not saying he needs 15 touches but out of the RB pie, he needs almost half or more.

Not really sure how anyone can expect this dumpster fire O line to handle NEs front 7. We better hope we can run the ball better than we did in the first 3/4 of today’s game and that they’re capable of giving Mahomes more time to throw. Oh, and which run D shows up? Highly doubt we win.

RaidersOftheCellar

Given that the offense hasn’t been as explosive lately, with suspect run blocking, I’m not sure that we can exploit their vulnerable run D. And unless dominant Mahomes shows up again, their secondary might be able to keep us in check.

I could see a low-scoring game. 17-14ish. Hoping that Andy has some nice tricks up his sleeve and Mahomes comes out firing darts en route to a double digit win.

Poor is poor and you cannot prepare for that when you have very little talent at those positions.

Same prescription as last year for the Pats regardless if they don't have a real deep threat nor Gronk. They will be confusing our weak ass interior o-line with timely stunts and blitzes galore doubling TH eliminating him and road grade our ass with a heavy dose of Michel dominating TOP once again because as Jacobs showed today we still cannot stop the run.

Hey I don't care that we won 40-9 today as we should have BUT our offense IS NOT IN SYNC AT ALL and for Pat he had a bad game for PAT. He was off all day today missing passes and throwing stupid passes that one that got picked in the end zone. Kelce had several go through his hands as well. We still can't run block for manure and DT's success today was Hunt like in that he created his own holes which is a positive BUT......he won't do that against the Pats.

Not trying to be negative Nancy here but I deal in reality in what I see with my own eyes and the Pats very rarely piss on their own shoes especially in Foxborough.

From the other thread :

As long as the O line shows up we will light them up

Gotta stay out of that 5 wide no back spread bullshit. I formation, pro set, 12 and 21 personnel. 22 and even 23 personnel, like today. That 3rd down off of play action from I formation 22 personnel was gorgeous because the Raider defense couldn't believe we were passing out of it. They bit so hard on the play fake...

All these defenses have studied that RPO, spread offense 5 wide shotgun stuff so much that that's what they EXPECT. It doesn't surprise anyone anymore. They're not ready for the 2 back 2 TE I formation sets.

Take it to NE and punch them directly in the ****ing mouth.

And do the same shit to the Broncos and Chargers.

Then do it to the Ravens and Bills and the Patriots and Titans and anyone else who gets in our way.

How they played TODAY is how this team will win in today's NFL. NOT with the bombs-away RPO 5 wide spread stuff.

We would have been that way whether Houston won or not. This is about tonight's loss changing the Patriots. The Patriots will bring just a little bit more against us because of tonight's loss to the Texans. Human nature.

JFC Hog - this is the problem with the battered Chief fan - we look for small victories instead of believing in the bigger goal. If the team makes beating NE the ultimate be all end all, it will ultimately fail. I’d love nothing better than to see the Chiefs roll into Foxboro and slap those assholes around, but there’s a good chance that that does not happen. So even if the Chiefs come out of New England with a loss, they still have a lot to play for and finish their last few weeks off playing some sound football and positioning themselves for a playoff run.

If we win out, we would hold tie breakers over Baltimore and NE. So, Ravens lose one, Bills beat NE, and we win out = #1 seed.

In a game the Pats desperately needed, they played their worst. This team feasted on **** teams. Got destroyed by physical teams who play the RPO, something this defense can NEVER beat. KC plays a similar RPO type style. I’d be EXTREMELY shocked if the Pats beat KC next week. There’s just no way in hell its gonna happen.”

KC's defense isn't great. And I doubt they win the SB. But the Texans defense sucked too. And this offense did squat. So yeah. Your darn right I hate our chances against the best QB, TE, and receiver in the league. And it has nothing to do with our defense. It's because the offense can't sustain drives. Which in turn tires our defense out. With the way our offense has played, we are getting the wrong team. At the wrong time. If that makes me a crap fan. So be it. I call it like I see it. If Reid calls the game like he did yesterday, we can beat them. Efficient and leaning on the run game, max protect...let our offense get out early and make them one dimensional.

Don't want them leaning on the run game. Romeo gave us the blueprint to win on defense last night - attack Brady up the middle. Put a DB in coverage on White. Double PEDelman. Mix in blitzes and go press man.

actually, considering the 50 mile an hour wind gusts yesterday, I feel like it was Reid and Mahomes' most efficient, situationally aware game of the season.

And I'm hypercritical of the coach. We went max protect and didn't try to go bombs away, it was just methodical and efficient. Getting first downs and running clock in the 4th. The fact that the defense is playing better allows that kind of efficiency to be even more effective.

I think the Patriots may lose to the Bills also. Their offense has been horrific against much worse defenses than Buffalo. Bills probably lose to the Ravens though.

I think Houston has at least one more loss in them.

I don’t see Baltimore losing more than 1 more. However, a team built around designed runs for the QB is always vulnerable. One bad hit and their season is over.

If Mahomes plays the way he has the last 2 games, Chiefs can't win in NE.

I know he's the golden child around these parts, but he looked skiddish in the pocket yesterday and seemed a bit hobbled.

They've talked about playing a little more controlled, he looks like he's not really sure how to do that.

Watch him when he drops out to hand the ball off. He looks awkward doing it like he's favoring something.

He left some clean pockets last night too.

Don't need to read the whole thread, just this page. Tool you longer to post than it would to read.

It can be done.

I said it last night, Pat has to toe that line of controlled aggression, especially against NE/Baltimore.

Take the checkdown when it’s necessary to stay ahead of the chains against pressure, but if you’ve got Hill, Kelce, even Watkins one-on-one with a DB downfield, don’t be afraid to throw that bitch. We saw Houston have success with it last night.

To beat you guys we need to fully commit to running the football.

The NEP passing game is not consistent enough to be dependable and I think the pass D is a strength of KCs.

Correct.

I see tons of posts in each game day thread that says, "If I were the (Insert Team), I would just keep running on KC until they stop it." What usually happens is that team tries some dumb pass or "tricky" run, instead of just continuing to pound the Chiefs where they have been successful. It happened yesterday too when Chucky decided to try some Jet Sweep on 4th and 1 instead of simply handing it off up the middle.

Difference is, NE WILL keep running wherever they are doing the most damage until KC proves they can stop it. I remember about 10 - 15 years ago watching them play on MNF, I think against the Saints, where the Patriots came out and threw it something like 20+ times in a row to start the game.

Based on "initial tests," Patriots C Ted Karras is believed to be dealing with an MCL sprain.

Karras was injured in Sunday night's lost to Houston. Monday's MRI should confirm the diagnosis. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots believe Karras' injury is "something he can return from." With starting center David Andrews (blood clots) already lost to injured reserve, the Patriots could be down to third-stringer James Ferentz against the Chiefs in Week 14. Losing Karras would be another blow to New England's increasingly stagnant offense.

I like that plan.

Texans did a decent job on Edelman but man White tore it up, that worries me. It has been our glaring weakness on Defense.
Patriots had a bad rash of the flu going around, no one seems to be mentioning that. They will be healthier and motivated next week.
We will need our A game going into Foxboro.
This will be Spags biggest challenge so far this year. Lets hope he schemes it up!

But the conditions were not ideal these past two games. That was not KC's offense at its full potential. Especially with Hill out vs the Chargers. I think the Titans game was a far better representation of what we'll see moving forward.

Going into Foxboro after the Patriots and Tom Brady got clowned on Sunday night is gonna be real tough.

They want to make a statement that everyone writing them off is dead wrong and they will show them.

We need to pressure Brady every goddamn play, no sitting back and letting him get comfortable and size up the defense.

He is going to use Edelman as a target 10-15 times against us. Just double team that guy at the LINE and smack the shit out of him!. Don't let him breath!

Also got to stop the run big time!

The Pats are going to stick 8-9 in the box and gang rush Mahomes. There is no doubt.

That is all!

We'll mix it up vs Mahomes but the foundation of the game plan will be the same as the AFCCG. Double Tyreek. Lots of man coverage but mixing up the front. Blitz a little. Dare KC to run the football. Mahomes seems to be moving around OK so I don't think blitzing a lot regardless would be smart.

If Spags is anything he's shown he's a guy who will blitz. Personally, I'm all for it so long as we don't sag 10 yards off like The Grandfather used to on the rare occasion he blitzed.

Brady has looked very pedestrian this year. Our defense, over the last few weeks, has been very opportunistic. If we can force just one turnover, I like our chances.

I told anybody that would listen for weeks that New England was being overrated due to their schedule. They don't have any control over that, obviously, but their record and their rankings were, I thought, completely a product of playing a half season string of really, really bad teams. And I believe the last month has proven that true.

If we lose, it's because our coaching staff is overmatched. The Chiefs are a better team, roster versus roster. But I fully expect expect they'll just have Brady hand the ball off until we show we can stop them from running over us. And Spags was brought in specifically to beat this team. If we can't stop them on third down again, like in the AFCCG,.it was all for naught.

I just don't know if this team in KC can put together a solid 4 quarter effort against a quality team. I've seen way too many games under Reid where they either start hot and then call on their face in the 2nd half, or start cold and then have to go batshit crazy late to get back into it.

I thought about this a few times. It's tough. Beating them twice in NE is gonna be very tough even with them struggling a little right now. But you obviously don't want to tell your team to play possum. Not a great sign. Perhaps you do play it a little closer to the vest. Try some stuff out defensively a few times and see if it works?
