@TomPelissero: The #Cardinals gave Terrell Suggs a $4 million signing bonus in March and owe him the rest of his $3M guaranteed salary if he's not claimed. Now, cut. Any team claiming Suggs would owe him only the prorated portion of that $3M salary for rest of 2019.

@FieldYates: Terrell Suggs had started all 13 games for the Cardinals this season, recording 5.5 sacks and 4 FF. If a team were to claim him on Monday, it would owe Suggs $353K for his final two weeks of salary for this season.

Not sure exactly what his role would be for Spags (do we really need another OLB pass rusher?), but he's still a pretty dangerous guy, from what I've seen this year. Yeah, he's definitely lost a step in pure speed, but he's still got some quickness, pretty damned smart, and hits like a train.

In actual passing situations, it would be very disconcerting for an opposing QB to break the huddle and see Frank Clark lined up over the LT, Chris Jones lined up over your C, and T-Sizzle lined up over your RT.

Or pull a DT and Neil Smith card, and line up both of those guys over one T.

Or, hell, line up all three on one side of the line. Probably force them to call a TO just out of fear.

We should probably put a claim in just to ensure he doesn't.

We could use the DE depth; no reason he couldn't be a similar sort of player as Ogbah. He isn't going to be a stalwart run defender at this stage of his career but if you put his hand on the ground and let him attack on 3rd downs, you could do a lot worse.

Yep.

Man losing Ogbah was so huge. Imagine him now especially now that the rest of the defense has gelled. Suggs would be the perfect replacement.

I don't think any non playoff team will put in a bid on him but I'd be surprised if he gets past few contending teams.

It would be nice to have his inside knowledge of the Ravens and Harbaugh for the playoffs.

Suggs has no knowledge of that offense that would help. That was Marty Morhninwegs offense last year, where through 3 quarters Lamar Jackson was like 3/9 for 25 yards in the playoff game against the Chargers.

Greg Roman installed this new offense in the offseason and has Jackson leading the league in pass TDs while also being like the 5th leading rusher.

Suggs could do little more with his 37 year old body than watch the kid run by him like he was standing still.

Maybe he was a jerk because he was in a game, you know the competition thing. I know some guys a few years ago were at a restaurant in Baltimore and started talking to Suggs who was eating by himself. They said he was real sociable and when he got to leave, he paid their bill which was close to $100.

I remember when Suggs was drafted and showed up at BWI Airport and he was wearing a Yankees hat and shirt. It was covered by Channel 11 and I had emailed the sports guy before and he always responded. I emailed him and asked if he mentioned to Suggs that the Yankees don't play in Baltimore. He said, he did mention that to Suggs and he was like most athletes, he didn't know shit about baseball, he just liked the hat. So anyway, he said Suggs got that message about not wearing that crap.

Teams that might pick up Terrell Suggs that are ahead of us on waiver claims.

13 Philadelphia Eagles.
17 Cleveland Browns.
19 Tennessee Titans.
20 LA Rams.
21 Dallas Cowboys.
22 Pittsburgh Steelers.
23 Houston Texans.
24 Buffalo Bills.
25 Minnesota Vikings.
26 Kansas City Chiefs.

KC should put in waiver claim. He is owed $352,940 for the remainder of season. Chiefs still have $21 M of cap space left. Suggs has a $2 M contract for next year.

If he refuses to report, Kansas City does not have to account for him on their 53 man roster.

Possibly some lower level waiver team claims him, but don't allow Baltimore Ravens to pick him up.

Wilson8

I know we have a separate thread for Janoris Jenkins but since he is also a possible waiver claim, I will add this.

With CB Janoris Jenkins, see if he passes through waivers and if he becomes free agent, try to sign him. Currently Jenkins has a contract that pays him $10,150,000 base and roster bonus of $1 M for 2020. If he is healthy next year and we cut him, we don't owe him that. The danger would be he plays this year and has a serious injury that extends into next year (ACL, Achilles, etc...), the Chiefs would be responsible for that money.

I’d put the claim in either way but I’m certain that Okafor is done for just yet

Suggs could be a useful situational pass rusher still for a stretch/play-off run.

I'd definitely claim him, but I seriously doubt he makes it that far.

An extra pass rusher for the Playoffs- is just what we need right now. :thumb:
