I live in north central Kansas. I was just outside, as my kids are going home from Christmas at our house. There is a steady stream of planes going over from Southwest to Northeast in a straight line. They are about 1 mile apart probably. At least 50 went by as we were watching. Don't know how many went before we noticed. They were still coming, one right after another.

Kinda spooky!

Run before the black helicopters start appearing.

Were these military planes?

Don't know. They were far to high to tell, and it is pitch black out. Probably should be in the Omaha area shortly if anyone lives in that area. Man. One right after the other in a straight line. Never seen anything like it!

More seriously, I've heard of stuff like that for military movements of planes from base to base.

That could be it. It was really neat... but spooky at the same time to watch.

No blinking lights on them like commercial planes. Solid white light on each one.

Not really seeing anything obvious on the live map...

https://flightaware.com/live/map

...which further suggests it's military (which are often hidden on public maps like that).

Umm no. One plane right after another. Very high in the night sky. White solid light, not flashing. You could see eight or nine at a time. One would leave out of sight to the northeast as another would come into view from the southwest. Perfectly spaced out.

Interesting. That could have been what we saw. It was pretty cool. Evenly spaced out in a perfectly straight line.

And I guess that would be a yes to "did anyone in Eastern Kansas see this?". My whole family watched it. If you call Washington County, Kansas eastern Kansas.

I saw something similar a couple of years ago.

I went outside one summer evening to pee off the deck under the stars. I noticed an orange light coming from the NW heading SE and could see dimmer lights in a line behind it. It was a defined pattern and about the time the light was the brightest and closest to me, I'd see the next one coming in the distance. I don't know how many passed by but it was quite a few. It was a little eery at first but I assumed it was Miltary planes relocating.

It was interesting to see if nothing else.

I was just watching a jet heading southwest towards the planet in the lower western sky. Told my wife I always liked watching jets fly at night... following the flashing light in the sky. I turned and looked up to about 11:00 to the east of where I was standing, and told my wife, "wow, look at that one it is moving really fast". It was probably going from SSW to NNE. When we got to looking closer, there was another one right behind it. Probably 6 to 8 degrees behind it. And another, and another, and another and so on. We could see 8 at a time, and they just kept coming. I know we watched at least 50. All in a perfectly straight line. All the same distance apart. Could have been that satellite thing, as they seemed very high. No flashing lights like planes either. Solid white light.

Not that anyone cares about this level of detail, but apparently SpaceX was waiting on FCC approval to change up their intended orbits for 40 of the 60 satellites they launched on November 11th, so these 40 were still pretty low. They'll start raising them to their permanent orbits here shortly, and once they're where they're supposed to be, they won't be nearly this visible.

Seemed like more than 40, but I suppose that number is more accurate. It was cool to watch, now that I know what it was. Little creepy at the time.

I'm in North Central Kansas. Washington County.(Probably just above the dot on the i in America) I was looking at about 11:00, maybe 11:30 to the east from straight up. I was facing south when I looked straight up.

I suppose that flight pattern could fit. It was around 6:30 in the evening give or take a bit.
