We're going to win the whole fucking thing.

And we're going to have to go beat New England at home again.

And we're going to have to go beat Baltimore in their house.

And we're going to crush the NFC representative (probably San Fran or N.O.)

And nobody will be able to say shit, because we will have to beat EVERYBODY to do it.

Everything this team has weathered to get here has made them stronger.

Losing Pat for a few games... All the injuries meant the kids had to play, and take their lumps and get better.

and boy did they.

Now we're DEEP, and we're hungry.

We can beat you in any of the three phases on any given Sunday.

We're battle tested.

When the Titans convert a third down I don't want to see anyone bitching in the game thread.

I want you to think about how Frank Clark is going to face fuck Ryan Tannehill on the next snap.

Our fucking legend began in the summer when the media tried to fuck Tyreek Hill.

We didn't go through all this shit just to not win the Super Bowl.

This is going to be the greatest fucking 30 for 30 of ALL TIME and we're going to have the most badass AMERICA'S GAME special ever, with Mahomes gravely stupid voice talking about his knee popping out and then slinging shit everywhere.

AND I'M GONNA GET 500,000 VIEWS ON THE LORD OF THE RINGS PARODY FROM IT ALL

We now reside in the heads of both the Ravens and the Patriots. They are both scared of this team. It’s going to be sweet revenge to go back to Foxborough and beat the Patriots again. The icing on the cake will be stealing the hype show from that MVP running back at Baltimore. The Super Bowl will be the cup of coffee at the end of the most satisfying meal ever. I'll be honest - I can't remember the last time CP was so united in believing in this team. It was close last season after we beat the Colts in the playoffs, but I think we all knew we were relying fully on Mahomes and hoping he could compensate for a below average defense.

Side note: I am posting this after having just boarded a flight. As I was typing it out, I locked eyes with a guy sporting a Patriots shirt who was boarding (I have a Chiefs hat). We stared at each other for a good 10 seconds before his eyes shifted away. It was like how dogs establish dominance. I fucking won. Lesson: no idea how this season will end, but I'm so sure we're going to end the Patriots in spectacular fashion.

It's unfortunate, because I think this team is better than last year's team (which quite frankly SHOULD have went to the Super Bowl) but they have a very unfavorable draw which makes it an unlikely shot, even if they are the best team in football. AT new england, AT baltimore. Going to be tough. Doable - but certainly in the 20% chance category to even make it to the Super Bowl let alone win it.

I’m bringing my youngest to the game. I’m kind of a noob with the tailgating business as we usually only get to a couple/few games a season and are usually driving a rental as we typically fly in.
Driving my SUV down this time however, but I’ll be using a generic red parking pass and will likely end up parking by Kauffman.

There's not a time stamp on his foot, but it would be awesome to have the opportunity to watch the game with him and by grandson together as a group. This year just feels right. I never played football, I maybe know a little more then the average fan. I know how the league goes and after watching 30 seasons or so, it's not always fair for anyone but the team of destiny that particular year. KChiefs1

Since the NFL implemented the current playoff format when the league expanded to 8 four-team divisions in 2002:

(3 seeds) are 17-15 against 6 seeds in the wildcard round of the playoffs.

The 17 (3 seeds) that won their playoff opener are 6-11 against the 2 seed in the divisional round.

The 6 (3 seeds) were 2-4 in the championship game.

Therefore, out if the 32 (3 seeds) only 2 made it to the Super Bowl.

Those (3 seeds) went 1-1 in the Super Bowl.

That team was Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts for the 2006-07 NFL season.

New England is too arrogant to be scared....I think the inevitable is the two stars at QB that hopefully barring injury will be the new perennial contenders for the SB slugging it out.....Mahomes vs Jackson, both organizations are consistent and well run... its not like some flash in the pan team that will suk next year

True. They are arrogant. They are also smart. They’ve known that time would eventually catch them. They’ve seen enough of PMII in the last two years to know that he’s the one to take them out. It’s over. We are in their head. It’s unfolding right in front of our eyes. Accept it,

3 seeds haven’t historically fared well in the playoffs.

The Colts team that had an all-time offense and finally found a defense?:hmmm:

3 seeds didn’t have Mahomes. The past is the past. Patrick is burning the past to the ground man. Never draft a first round qb, done. Never win a playoff game, done. Patrick is the thing that’s the trump card and the thing we’ve been missing. Fuck the past, that’s all it is now. Not only can we beat Baltimore and New England. We already have.

BB needed a Kelce fumble, and a trick play to even keep it close. We were way more vanilla when we played and beat them. It’s not gonna be easy by any means, but I have faith in Mahomes. He is driven to make it to the SB this season. Patriots have had an easy schedule and struggled against the good competition. That’s not just gonna change come playoffs. They are old, and depleted. If they had a few more weapons, or not a patchwork O line I’d be a little more concerned. But there’s no way we don’t avenge them knocking us out on our field last year. The players will be ready this time. And Suggs HATES Brady, and I promise you he will be playing his ass off if we end up with that matchup. We have the dogs to win the fight this time!

I fully acknowledge that @ NE won’t be easy... but....

1) Our team beat them there just a month ago. They will have no fear and have said as much based on quotes from Jones and Clark after that game. That’s half the battle with those fucks.

2) All the things mentioned above by others about last game... Pats were very lucky to be in that game the first go around. If one thing such as Mahomes not getting hurt doesn’t happen, what difference might that have made?...

If that game comes around and we’re relatively healthy. I would predict something probably in the realm of 27-17 Chiefs. But if I had to choose between the Chiefs losing or blowing the Patriots out? I’d go with the latter.

I honestly questioned the drive of the team when one of its leaders just lets a big play happen in front of him cause he’s determined a team mate would stop it on his own in the Titan game.

I think they’re just hitting their stride now.

To have a possible HOFer threaten to boycott any team that picks him up off waivers except the team of his choosing, then say “Oh hell yes” when we claim him, I’m sure means a great deal to some of these guys?

@NE in the playoffs is going to be extremely tough. Beating Brady and Belichick twice on their turf in one season will be a lifetime accomplishment even for great teams. Jets and Ravens have won there in the playoffs but not also in the same regular season. Belichick is going to mask their weaknesses from the first meeting. I expect their OL to play much better (like the Bills game). We have to play a complete game on defense to beat them again.

The play-call was a fake punt; someone didn't get the memo and snapped the ball to Colquitt who was never supposed to get the ball. Blocking assignments weren't for a punt so Pats blocked the botched punt attempt. Check the replay in slow-mo; easy to see the up-back try to reach out and grab the ball as it goes by him.

Yeah, it seemed like it was supposed to be a direct snap to Jordan Lucas who was either supposed to do something akin to Albert Wilson against the Falcons in 2016 or find Sherman right over the middle with a pass.

"This team" has broken the record for most points scored in two seasons.

I have complete faith in Spags to adjust. He was smart enough to play Fuller at Thornhill’s position for weeks before today and Fuller did great.
Honey Badger, Fuller, Ward, Breeland and Fenton is still a good secondary.

Also keep in mind that what is keeping us from the SB. An old washed Brady with nothing at receiver and a RB QB.

I think you'll see the Chiefs alternating Sorensen and Fuller depending on the situation now.

Whereas they were more likely before just to keep Thornhill out there the whole time.

The only issue this creates is Honey Badger now has less freedom to roam.

They’re gonna keep things as similar as possible. If they are doing what they did today, it just means Fuller taking over Thornhill’s role, Sorensen and Badger staying the same, and Watts taking Fuller’s old role.

See, that's the point you're not getting.

THIS team has not failed.

Marty failed, with Deberg, and Krieg, and Grbac, and a shadow of his former self Montana.

And Vermeil failed cuz 'Spinner defense.

And Haley failed, cuz Pioliaids and Casshole.

And all that.

But THIS team has not failed. Not Andy with Spags. Not Patrick with Honey Badger and Clark.

THIS team has nothing in common with any Chiefs team ever except last year, where they were four inches from a Super Bowl.

And THIS team is better.

Those other teams wore the same uniform. That's the end of the resemblance.

Nothing is stopping this team.

Not a decrepit zombie Patriots team.

Not a Baltimore team that is a one-trick pony on offense without a pass rush on defense.

Not the ancient QBs in the NFC, because no pocket QB is beating this team.

The only team that can beat the Chiefs is the Chiefs.

I think he was pretty damn good against Chicago and Denver.

They’re very unlikely to score 40+ unless they need to shift it into that extra gear.

^this^ Right now we don't need to score 30+points. We are having a lot of time eating 10-15 play drives. Specifically in the first half yesterday and the previous 3 games. This type of football limit possessions and scoring for both sides. The second half yesterday we had two quick scores that kept the defense on the field basically in back to back to back drives. This is more sustainable football.

RaidersOftheCellar
12-30-2019, 11:44 AM
I think the only major differences in the offense are that they have more clock-eating drives (deliberately) and aren't quite as efficient in the redzone. Which is something that will fluctuate from year to year, but also because the interior line is weak.

RaidersOftheCellar
12-30-2019, 11:56 AM
In this particular game, the offense only had 7 possessions. Scored on 4 of them. Can't expect much more than that, particularly against a top 5ish defense.

On the other 3 possessions, you had a miscommunication INT (very rare), a solid drive wiped out by a penalty that left them with 3rd and 24, and one drive that just didn't really go anywhere.

Not a bad day. And Mahomes was solid, aside from the pick. Which was probably actually Hill's fault.

Mitchell Schwartz didn’t give a single sack or pressure on Sunday against Bosa/Ingram. Last time the Ravens destroyed Erving.

Struggling pass rush against Mahomes is bad news, especially when said QB is great when you blitz him.

We just need to stop the run at an efficient rate and when blow out Baltimore

Chargers game was mediocre for sure, but he was excellent in near-blizzard conditions against Denver and he controlled the game against the Bears.

It wasn't as flashy as last year because they used more of a ball control offense against the Bears. Run the clock and so forth. I like seeing them have success in those kind of clock-eating drives. That is how you run the table in the playoffs.

People need to understand-

Yeah, we can go bombs away and score a ton of points FAST.

That also puts your defense in a tough spot; most people can't score in one or two plays like we can, so they just wear your defense OUT.

Some ball control may not have all the highlight reel excitement, but is complementary football.

We can do it if we NEED to, but we need to eat some clock, rest the defense, run the ball some, complete some passes, and be methodical in order to be able to get the stops when we need to in the 4th quarter.

It's chess, not checkers.

If Mahomes throws for 200 efficient yards and we win, then it's working.

Exactly right. He said last year the stats are nice, but he really just wants to win games. He's had plenty of seasons going back to high school where he had a quick-strike offense and garbage defense. This includes 2018 Chiefs and obviously every year he was at Tech.

I think Patrick is fed up with the quick strike offense full of empty stats and I'm glad Andy seems to be getting serious about trying to play a smarter brand of football. It's a championship style of football. Control the clock and help your defense rest on the sidelines. Hopefully score a good amount of points on those clock-eating drives as well, which they've been doing!

Ideally I’d like to do that on the first drive. Then heat up and fucking light up the scoreboard after that. That way you take the running game away from the opponent.

Do that against the Ravens and they will be forced to abandon the run just like last time.

Spags will be in his element. Blitz Lamar to death and force him to his left.

well, the main thing is, you need to score.

when we're not hitting right, and punting, well that's not good.

Scoring consistently puts that pressure on the opponent.

Eating clock and scoring consistently REALLY puts that pressure on, because the opponent knows they'll only get so many possessions, and have to score as fast as possible. THAT is when you take the run away.

That’s the thing with Baltimore. They aren’t going to abandon the run. The way you beat them is to go up early and then sustain drives for points in the 2nd half. They’re going to run and they’re eventually going to score. You just have to put the game away early so that it doesn’t matter.
