At 77. One of the biggest sports figures of the last 40 years

That sucks. He was one of the most notable figures in the NBAs glory days.

As a Sonics fan,

I hope he rots in hell.

He stayed a few years too long, but he steered the NBA through some extremely rough times (late 70's- early 80's drug use, late 90's Knickball) and helped modernize the sport. The Finals went from tape delay to surpassing baseball.

Yes he was........but I don't like his hand picked replacement. Nosferatu.

When he took over as commissioner of the NBA it was probably a worse equivalent of today’s Major League Soccer in terms of minimal relevance.

Now it is arguably the second most powerful professional sports league behind the NFL.

Stern has a Steve Jobs-type legacy in the sports world.

I remember going to Kings game those last couple years when their stars were Eddie Johnson, Larry Drew and Reggie Theus. There would be like 6 or 7 thousand fans at Kemper. Those were dark nights. Still, there was a lot of good basketball.

He screwed the Suns royal when we were playing the Spurs to go to the finals. Asshole if you ask me.

I liked Stern, but he totally screwed over the Lakers.

Yep and those never seen before or after bullshit "unnatural basketball move" suspensions of kobe.
