What's it looking like in kc for this weekend? Looked at the forecast and looks like it could be pretty cold? Watson doesn't have a ton of experience playing in weather. From what I remember it was pretty nice the last time Houston came into town.

It's looking like high 20s/low 30s for gametime. Going to be an ugly storm on Saturday with snow and ice and it's going to be realllllly cold Sunday morning before likely warming up.

Looks like it's likely to be below freezing at game time. I think this would have to have an effect on Houston. Indoor team, plus Watson has never played in a game under mid-40s.

We were in the 4-6" band as of last night's forecast. Here in Overland Park we got maybe 3 inches of snow and I don't see any sign of ice underneath it after they cleared the sidewalks and parking lot here at my apartment. Shouldn't be any issues for anyone driving to the game in the am, which is a relief.

Not sure how much this helps or hurts. Derrick Henry's going to feel those hits a little harder, but so will the defender delivering the shots. Our passing game will be fine but it makes it harder for our receivers to catch the damn ball. Not sure weather provides much of an advantage of disadvantage for us.

Honestly, it varies. The part of my body most susceptible to the cold is - by far - my feet. And I've tried various boots, socks, and wireless foot warmers and still periodically have issues (I've gotten mild frostbite twice in Green Bay!).

If the ground is still wet from Friday's snow in the area, it could be very uncomfortable. At a minimum, I'd recommend bringing some cardboard to stand on if you don't have boots so that you have another layer between your feet and the frigid concrete.

Interestingly enough, the Chiefs/Titans game in 2017 was the coldest game ever at Arrowhead. IIRC it was like 5 degrees at kick-off with a -7 windchill or something like that.

I saw a lot of people last year bringing several layers of cardboard cut to shape and taped together, to put their feet on and stand on. Idea being that it keeps your feet separated from the cold concrete and might help them stay a bit warmer. Don't know if it helps, but I saw some people trying that.

You would be better off buying a thick 1' x 2' neoprene kitchen standing mat. You would have both a cold insulator and a shock absorber for the hard concrete. :thumb:

The Titans game was so cold that the propane heater (a drywall heater that just blasts flames into a metal cylinder) froze to the ground. It would heat up the surrounding snow/ice enough to melt and run but the concrete in the parking lot was so cold that it would immediately re-freeze.

That game was ridiculous.

Yup, we were sitting our cans on top of that same freezer and ultimately put a pot of boiling water on a campstove just to put our beers in to get them drinkable.

I think there was a fairly cold game the week prior (Oakland) and when that was over I said "y'know what, fuck this - I'm not gonna be cold at a game again" and spent about $800 on various bits of cold-weather gear. New boots, insulated layers for my carharts (because I won't wear my ski gear out there and ruin it barbecuing), new gloves, new mittens, hats, neck warmers - just decided that suffering wasn't worth it.

And man oh man was I happy to have that stuff for the TN game.

Wind doesn't appear likely to be a factor. 10-15 mph forecasted.

Mahomes throws a 'point down' football - he's able to drive his passes through pretty decent wind and 10 mph won't make any difference on his throws at all.

I don't like the cold weather because it's gonna make tackling a large man just a little more painful, but the flipside is that it will also make it just a little harder for defenders to cut and get back up to speed. It may also take a little zip out of the legs of the pass rush.

I think weather will be a factor but it will mostly cancel out.

Will they let you in the stadium with them?

Yes, but beware some of the security guards don't realize this. I have a heated jacket with M12 batteries and have never had problems until this year there have been a couple times a security guy will tell me I can't bring them in until I ask for the supervisor and they say batteries are allowed. Just an FYI because one of my buddies left his batteries out in a bush when they told him he couldn't bring them in and I would hate for someone to have their batteries stolen due to that.

I would avoid battery powered anything. If it fails, you get really cold. Get something that will keep you warm without a power pack.

For me, I'm bringing good socks. I'll either bring heavy Simms socks that I use for fly fishing or some SmartWool socks. SmartWool is, in my opinion, the best cold weather sock there is. Soft, thick and warm, they wick moisture away but because they are wool, they keep your feet warm even if they do get wet.

A base layer of polypropylene that can wick moisture away is also good. UnderArmor, Patagonia and Simms make good base layers. I am bringing those as well. I figure if they keep me warm when standing in glacial water, they should help at Arrowhead.

Interesting. I had a friend go through recently at Arrowhead and they were not allowed to bring in their battery powered mittens.

Tastes bad, but it works. Just a couple shots is all you need...

obviously the weather is massively important vs henry. a windy game would be bad

I think the cold helps Henry. It hurts to bring a guy down like that.

Snow probably helps us. Strong armed QB, can knife the ball through the snow. Snow probably hinders running game for the most part except for the big play. Once a player gets in open space though, they know where they are going to go, and the defender doesn't, though.

Wind definitely hurts us and is the worst scenario we could ask for. Looks like 12 mph wind during the game but I doubt that data is very accurate right now.

Theoretically, cold air would make tackling Henry much harder, as DJ alluded to. Other than that, nothing about the weather really concerns me other than FG kicking.

You would be better off buying a thick 1' x 2' neoprene kitchen standing mat. You would have both a cold insulator and a shock absorber for the hard concrete. :thumb:

I am not trying to troll at all, but are you sure they’ll let you in with that? I got an email from the team that has floor mats and carpet squares as prohibited items.

Last years game against NE I brought cardboard but that didn’t seem to do anything. I had some snow boots but didn’t help. After that I waited for a sale and bought these so surely this will keep my feet from freezing on the concrete: https://www.baffin.com/collections/winter/products/40000048?variant=8572567060531
