The Summerall voice is off, but the script is dead on! I could totally see Pat saying exactly that in calling this play - the inflections and pauses are fantastic.

I didn't die (yet), but I did laugh

The young kids have no idea how it used to be. Caliendo nailed it.

Back in the mid 90s, when Madden Football on Sega had actual Madden quips - it was classic:

(After a pass defended): "PAWS! He's got those PAWS!"

That's pretty good.

Summerall with the zero emotion or voice inflection was perfect.

"There's that wolf again, what the?"
LMAO

All it needs is a "60 Minutes" and "Murder She Wrote" tease.

Yeah, I laughed.
Madden was a true character. His fear of flying and recognition of his own frailties was one of his strengths as a coach. Oakland dick.

https://www.espn.com/page2/s/toomay/021114.html

He swore off flying in 1979 but always feared it since a 1960 San LUIS Obispo team crash. He wasn’t on it. The link discusses Daryl Stingley and crash impact on him.

2 connections: 1) one of my best friends and fellow Marine aviator was on that Patriots team/game where Stingley was paralyzed 2) my first MAG commander was on that San Luis Obispo team and did not fly/ travel on that flight. Stayed close to Madden. Ironic; 1 feared flying, 1 became an aviator. I always remember announcer Madden for his call at a Blue Angel fly over during a Niners game:

Laugh no but the impressions of both of them are so spot on, especially Summerall's lack of any emotion and Madden's strange non-sequiturs

Nobody does Madden like Caliendo, sheeeeit I've never heard anyone else doing a Madden impression.

Madden was spot on. Summerall wasn't even close.

I would normally say Summerall was the greatest play-by-play guy of all time, but after that Week 17 thing with the Dolphins/Patriots, I think it might be Kevin Harlan now.

"I'm calling BOTH games, you fucking moron!"

Yes, I know he didn't call Rich Gannon a fucking moron, but that's how I like to imagine it happened.

Yes, I know he didn't call Rich Gannon a fucking moron, but that's how I like to imagine it happened.I thought Vern Lundquist and Dick Enberg were fun to listen to, especially if they had a good analyst in the booth.

It really sucks that we are in the SB, and we will have the absolute worst "#1" announcing team in NFL history calling the game. It's pathetic when you would rather listen to Booger and Jason Witten call your game, and Witten sucked so badly, and was ridiculed so relentlessly, that he went back to having his brain smashed to pulp just to get away from the criticism.

Madden would be bitching about the Titans' lack of discipline containing the scramble..

Funny because of its accuracy but, it’s making me scramble to find Harlan’s call of that play to push the thought of this out of my mind.
