Many of us have lived through some of worst seasons since the Chiefs won Super Bowl IV. From heartbreak losses in the playoffs involving a kicker that shall not be named to overtime losses just moments away from a Super Bowl appearance WE the Kingdom stayed true.
However, seasons short of playoffs reigned true through the 1980s but are pale in comparison to the lowest point in franchise history. December 1, 2012 Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli were in the middle of a league worst 2-14 season when they were summoned to the parking lot where Javon Belcher was with a gun after killing his girlfriend and mother of his child. Belcher took his life in front of Crennel and Pioli.
The fans were disgruntled prior to this day and demanded change. Banners flew over Arrowhead in an attempt to change leadership off the field. A franchise QB was needed to lead the team on the field. And the Kingdom was making it known they fed up.
Clarck Hunt heard the cries, saw the banners and became dedicated to make the changes. After the season Hunt hired newly fired Eagles coach Andy Reid. Reid accepted the offer with condition of John Dorsey becoming GM. Reid and Dorsey then made a move to bring in Alex Smith and tide had officially turned.
Like a battering ram knocking down a wall the Reid's Chiefs kept making the playoffs trying to reach the Super Bowl but coming up short. From Luck's comeback win to a loss to the Patriots to Fisher's hold against Pittsburgh to a Titan meltdown to an overtime loss to the Patriots Reid's Chiefs kept pounding.
Today many of us get to experience something we have never had the opportunity. Today the Kingdom can raise their heads high and bring 142.2 decibels to not Arrowhead but every house, bar, and stadiums in Miami and let the Kingdom be heard as the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV.
