I think a true 3 down LB would be huge. Probably not even there at #32, but if there's a guy there that IS, that would be big.

I think IOL tend to be undervalued, and could be had in 2nd and/or 3rd.

Corners are always coveted; probably top tier is gone by #32, but hell, Veach has done wonders with UDFA like Ward and Fenton. I'll trust his scout eyes. Get us another, buddy.

A RB is a good idea not because Williams sucks; I think when healthy and with some blocking he's a perfect fit here. He's basically Brian Westbrook. We're never going to be a heavy running team. We'd never draft or sign a Leveon Bell or a Derrick Henry. That kind of thing just doesn't fit. But an Akers/Benjamin/whomever in the mid rounds, sure.

Need a linebacker. A great one. Easily the biggest weakness of this team defensively.

Mahomes is soo good at shaking and baking in the pocket that OL isn't that valuable for him. At the same time, we need a good offensive line just to protect him from himself and to act as an insurance policy

TomBarndtsTwin

Lloyd Cushenberry III probably is there and would be a good pickup at C. kccrow has turned me on to Matt Hennessy out of Temple. Also still like Nick Harris from Washington, who has drawn some Rodney Hudson comps but slid down draft projections recently.

CB also works if there's a guy they like at 32. Might be a stretch for a guy at that spot in the draft, though.

I'm in love with Akeem Davis-Gaither out of Appy State at OLB. Probably will take a 3rd round pick to nab him, but he's one of those speedy hybrid LB/S types and would work well in the WLB spot. He's also pretty physical for a 6-2, 220 guy.

OL. As long as we have Mahomes under center we have a chance. He will only get better and will be able to excel with lesser receivers. The key is to keep him upright and healthy and an elite O line can do that. We saw what the SF D line is capable of. A lesser QB would have not won that game. Pat is the franchise and must be protected at all costs.

I expect at least 2 fatties drafted this year. Mahomes is the franchise and Reid knows this. He advised Chris Ballard when he took the Indy job to "protect that QB" - Reid will do the same here.

I'm guessing we draft 2 CBs as well.

Cornerback has to be top priority. Fuller and Breeland have never been paid real money, so I would expect both of them to get that chance after how well they looked last night.
We can’t afford to bring them back bc some team will drop at least $8-10 million AAV on them. It hurts that Thornhill likely won’t be back until mid season.

IOL is a problem and I think the 2nd rd is a nice place to address it.

Definitely need speed at LB too.

gotta disagree...this offense on another another level with w a threat at RB. if you can force defenses to bring more up in the box, 15 is going to shred all day. Again, Williams is great, I love him as a 3rd down back, but this offense just cant be stopped if you add an elite back to it

With a scheme like SF runs offensively, it’s such a bitch to contain their running style without real sideline to sideline quickness at the 2nd level.

3. Cornerback, Running back, backup TE

Guy to look for is Zach Baun, linebacker Wisconsin. He is listed in these mock drafts as an edge. Here he would play strong side lb and play in nickel. Guy has great instincts and can shoot gaps. He would have blown up Shannys zone runs . Think a Jamie Collins type.

Another example of context matters more than pure stats.
We didn't try to establish the run or even run often.
Our OL are not run blockers they are pass blockers.
We need a back that has that other gear for the post season, which Damien has in spades. Mahomes can get us through the regular season.

Depends on what happens with some of the guys on the roster but I think Andy needs another offensive toy. Something to make our offense different because if we stay the same we won't be as good. I think one of the bigger WRs would be a good get. We don't really have that guy. A big reliable possession receiver with a big catch radius that catches everything thrown his way.

He's fallen like a rock on a lot of boards, not a first round pick anymore.

What caused that? Injury?

Haven’t kept up with it but he looked great when I was watching Wisconsin first half of the season.

He had a fairly major surgery after the season. His mobility and performance fell way off as the year went on (possibly due to the injury).

Might be damaged goods. Might be a steal.

I thought that surgery was after last season?

That’s what I meant. He wasn’t the same as the year before.

Ohh ok gotcha I was confused because you said “after the season”.

I feel like we should go for the most elite game changing talent early. A top 15 talent will probably fall to us. I trust our scouts.

It depends what position is coming off the board early too. A good OL, CB, or LB will fall to us. It depends on what players we grade higher. Also how we rank the running backs. It is a stacked RB class so we might grade one higher later where we could get a steal. Or maybe we fall in love with one so much that we can't pass him up.
