View Full Version : Chiefs Will the Chiefs go to the Whitehouse?

Mods move to DC if you like but this is more of a Chiefs question IMO.

I say the majority go. At least I hope so. I know Andy and the coaches go. Pretty sure Pat will go too.

Of course. The Clarks demand respect for public office from their organization.

And it's more important to everyone to take part in the symbolic act of a champion showing up at the White House than the possible disdain from hanging out with Trump.

Plus I get to photoshop Reid's head on Trump's body. Or maybe Donovan.

I hate that just the act of showing up is going to lead to idiots on both sides politicizing what that means. No, they're just showing up because it's the right thing to do.

For all we know it might be another 50 years before it happens again tomorrow is guaranteed to no one.

Mahomes is Maga based on what. Dude seems like he just wants to stay out of the political fray. Clark was wearing the shirt to troll and said he doesn't care either way. Honestly, I'm a lot more worried about our fans politicizing this than the players. Like you're doing here. Our players will probably show up as they should. I would think that Mahomes will go to be as neutral as possible and likeable by both sides. That seems to be his personality, to keep personal thoughts in and present a good image for the Chiefs, Clark, Andy and his friends and family by being a good example for all. He's an icon now, he represents much more than just himself. Where certain celebrities fail in maintaining a good image as an icon, I don't think Mahomes will go out of his way to make a statement. I'm sure his closest friends, family and teammates know his political preferences, but they love him regardless. I pity the person who somehow hates the kid because he decides to hug Trump, or not go to the White House at all. But that's the all or nothing, your on my side or your my enemy, mentality that plagues America today. We need to move away from that to move things forward.

I’m not interested in what bothers you.

This is a thread about going to the White House FFS. Political terms might appear, but that doesn’t mean politics has been injected to any degree greater than the inherent political backdrop of the thread. It was a speculative statement related to the question about whether players would attend. Analysis, not accusation. Relevant speculation, not injecting politics.

Of course. The Clarks demand respect for public office from their organization.

And it's more important to everyone to take part in the symbolic act of a champion showing up at the White House than the possible disdain from hanging out with Trump.

Plus I get to photoshop Reid's head on Trump's body. Or maybe Donovan.

"The Clarks" bit is freaking hilarious. Someone did it yesterday at the rally, too.

It’s an honor to be invited no matter who the president is

This is a first class organization so I’m sure pretty much everyone will be there, they’ll do us proud
Exactly. Regardless of who is in office you act like you have some class and attend.

You're mixing up two different comments. I didn't say jaa accused mahomes of anything. Labeling mahomes as anything isn't speculation, it's needless politicization. Mahomes has done zero to suggest he leans either way. My accusation comment was around how either side can weaponize political positions even for players who don't volunteer them. Mahomes clearly doesn't want to labeled as anything. If he wants to, I'll support him either way, and also I could care less as long as it isn't a distraction. If he doesn't want to can we please just find it refreshing that a football player just wants to be a football player?

Mahomes is Maga based on what. Dude seems like he just wants to stay out of the political fray. Clark was wearing the shirt to troll and said he doesn't care either way. Honestly, I'm a lot more worried about our fans politicizing this than the players. Like you're doing here. Our players will probably show up as they should. That is likely much more a respect for the honor than it is any player or coach trying to politicize anything.

Dude is pure Texas where they love God, country and Texas. The county he is from voted 70% republican during the last election. Have you paid attention to him at all? He’s country and loves police, this country and God. No I don’t know for sure but based on who he seems to be he fits perfectly in the Midwest.

Sorry for your loss.

Well, I guess DC was inevitable for this thread, eh?

I expect a big showing from the team to the Whitehouse. I also fully expect there to be media driven "controversy!" before, during and after the visit, but my opinion of the players isn't going to change whether they refuse to attend, attend, or have Trump say "you gotta fight" or somesuch.

I don't care one way or the other, but never understood the logic not to go: This could literally be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it's respectful to the office, and even if your political leaning is opposite of the administration, wouldn't access to the President give you a sliver of a chance to actually talk to the "other side" about your issues and concerns. Maybe, just maybe, one would actually make some progress or learn some things during the visit...

Silly not to take advantage of the opportunity....

Huh? I am not at odds with anything. I enjoy that our QB stays out of politics. He hasn't hinted at the possibility of being anything. Anyone who wants to project he leans either way is just throwing darts in the air. For as much as we bitch about separating politics and sports, why can't we just enjoy an athlete who chooses to be apolitical instead of insisting on politicizing him when he clearly doesn't want to be.

It's ultimately up to the players but Clark and Andy probably want them to show up. It's an unneeded distraction that puts self above team. It's basically taking a team moment and deciding to call attention to yourself.

I hope the players all show up. If they have an issue with the president, talk to Clark Hunt about ways to advance advocacy on their own. He will listen. We finally got out of the business of stupid attention to who's kneeling, who's not. I really don't want to play this game now after every team wins the super bowl. Man...this is continually the most annoying thing about any team that wins a championship.

Why does anyone give two shits whether the team goes to the WH or decides not to? Partly its because the media wants to write stories and get quotes about it for clicks and airtime. But for those that have super strong feelings in either directions, what fucking difference does it make in your life?

If they go, that doesn't mean they support every policy and the rhetoric of the person occupying the WH. And if they don't go, it doesn't mean they're trying to make some grand statement and they're anti-America.

If I had to guess, they'll likely be going. Most of them at least. But seriously...who gives a shit. Our team is the best team in the world. This thread is 3 pages longer than it should've been. The first response to the topic is: who cares/end thread

To add to this great post you would have the opportunity to voice your concerns to the president directly. I think it would be great for someone to go shake his hand and hand him a paper saying. It's very nice to meet you. I have some concerns, could you look into this?

When else can you get a 1on1 with the president. It would be a classy way to deal with a difference of opinion. I think our nation has forgotten how to be civil.

So what if it falls on deaf ears....it’s not about how the President reacts to your issues, it’s about taking the opportunity to man up and air your concerns...

If you go, you at least have some % possibility that the President will listen and act...if you don’t go, there is 100% assuredly nothing will happen.
