With the end of the decade, it's time for us to select our all-decade team for the 2010s. Credit to Direckshun for the idea; I'm just implementing it.

Here are the rules:

1. I'll put up lists of position groups one at a time.

2. Each list will contain guys who had at least one notable stat line in their career. I'll generally put them in descending order of some key stat.

3. The stats will contain ONLY their body of work between 2010 and 2019 for the Chiefs. No pre-2010 stats and no stats for other teams.

4. The number of roster spots will be the same as the number of roster spots on the 2019 Super Bowl roster for the Chiefs.

5. You can use whatever criteria you want to select the team. It can be total stats for the decade, it can be dominance in a shorter period, it can be playmakers who didn't screw up badly, whatever. It's your call. Feel free to use any criteria not listed in your decision. For example, if you know that Terrance Copper was an amazing blocker, you can build that into your decision.

6. In a subsequent poll we will determine which players are the starters on the all-decade team. In the first round, you're just going to fill the 53-man roster.

Our next position group is long snappers. ONE long snapper will make the all-decade team. So pick ONE long snapper.

I'm randomly picking the order positions to post, by the way.

This is a tough one. I feel like Gafford may have been slightly better on snap quality, but Winchester is a bit better on punt coverage. I feel like I see Winchester down near the ball a lot on punts.

Darn. I meant to make this public. Oh, well. Enjoy your cloak of anonymity.

I actually remember some fumble recoveries and at least one forced fumble by Winchester.

Kendall Gammon did you forget? Also Bobby Bell long snapped for punter Jerrol Wilson and I think if I remember even field goals.

I voted Gafford simply because of the issues we saw with Winchester this year (Titans regular season game!).

That's what tilted my vote to Winchester. He's always around the ball on punt returns, it seems. And while I think his snaps have a wider radius of error than Gafford's, a good holder like Colquitt can keep it from being a problem.

Same here. Seems like there were a few bad snaps by him this year, including the Houston playoff game.

I'm voting Winchester for one reason only.

His bad snap in the Titans game allowed us to snag Suggs on waivers and set the AFC playoff seeding so that we would eventually get HFA and the AFCCG at Arrowhead.

The fuck up that wasn't.

I just remember getting some tickets around 2010-ish on the rail by the tunnel, and a heckler behind us kept after Gafford. "You gonna snap it over his head again, Gaaaaafford?!?!?!?!" To the point that Gafford would stand and stare at him. So if he could strike a nerve like that, there must have been some fire to go with the smoke, thus my vote is for Winchester.

Yeah I missed it quick to look at poll.

But honestly 6 years of Reid 2 of Crennel and 2 of Haleys 3 years? Might as well be best of the Andy Reid years.

Somebody heckled our long snapper? At home?

You must be remembering differently. Colquitt is an elite holder who has saved more than a few really bad snaps.

Yep, the folks we sat next to said he was a regular and that "his buddy wasn't here, or it would have been much worse".

It was one of the more memorable games I've ever been too, simply because of that guy. They also announced which cheerleader was going to represent KC at the Pro Bowl at that game. He had some amazing insight into that as well, which was unfortunate for the winning cheerleader...who, as she paraded around the stadium after getting the nomination, she passed by our section and for some reason only God knows the stadium fell absolutely silent for just a few seconds. And that's when it let it rip. "She's got a Pro Bowl ass, but her face is sick as f___". I can still see the look of pure shock on her face as he let that rip and she could hear him. Even my old man was in shock, and that takes some doing.

If it helps decide, here are some comparable stats. I can't say that Gafford and Winchester handled every snap in their era, but they probably handled 99 percent or more.

From 2010 through 2014 (the five-year Gafford era), the Chiefs had 420 punts, 169 extra point attempts, and 148 field goal attempts. (737 total long snaps)

From 2015 through 2019 (the five-year Winchester era), the Chiefs had 309 punts, 237 extra point attempts, and 182 field goal attempts. (728 total long snaps)

Apparently in 2015 a lot of punt drives transmogrified into scoring drives. But that's not Gafford's fault.

I dont remember Gafford having gaffes, and Winchester had some issues this year. Although im a bit of a winchester fan, he played highschool ball locally and is also a big deer hunter.

Winchester, just because of the name.

It looks like Winchester took the spot. I'll issue him an all-decade jersey.
