Hell, if he’d sign for $2 million or under, I’d be happy. Good red zone target and was underrated on specials. His drops are frustrating, but he’d contribute more than Yelder, and arguably is as effective as Bell.

John Lovett is going to be a nice utility weapon at TE/FB. Just watch

He was one of the most prolific pass droppers over the last few years. No, no, no.

I wouldn't. Harris is far more athletic.

And let's not act like Bell is the king of blocking or that he has hands of glue. Dude had plenty of "whoopsie" moments this year. Just as many as Harris probably averaged per season when he was with KC

I'd rather just draft a TE in the mid to late rounds, maybe get someone who can produce a little bit or just be an outstanding blocker.

I was gonna suggest that he could polish the Lombardi, but he'd probably drop it.

Anyone have the actual numbers on Harris's drops?

I want to say that his drops are a bit overstated here at CP, but I don't have the numbers to prove it.

Lol at people thinking Bell is better. Harris isn’t anything special but yea he is better than bell. I wouldn’t give Harris much. Probably better just bringing in a late round pick, undrafted FA and the 6’8 kid from Stetson playing in the XFL should get a look.

Chief Northman
02-17-2020, 09:23 PM
Harris basically doubles Bell’s production with regards to catches and yards. A handful of TD’s over the last few seasons too, where Bell is basically shutout (not counting playoffs).
By no means will Harris be a priority free-agent signing, but he could be a late spring addition if the Chiefs do not like their options in the draft or free agency elsewhere.

We don’t need another DRob on the team. We’re already letting him walk.

Besides we’ve seen this movie before. We know how it ends.

Hard pass.

It is my personal belief that UFOs are interdimensional phenomena.

It is also my personal belief that Yelder and Bell will be far better next year than they were this year.

Therefore, I'm not sure KC is a rational landing spot for Stonehands.

Anyone have the actual numbers on Harris's drops?

I want to say that his drops are a bit overstated here at CP, but I don't have the numbers to prove it.

He definitely had quite a few early on in his career. The problem is he wasn't good enough to see more snaps or get the ball thrown his way more than it was, so once he got the "drop" label, it wasn't going away.

Then again, just remember who his QB was for most of his time. You REALLY had to execute the small stuff when Alex was in town. Occasionally somebody like Kelce could have an "oops" moment and then make a couple stunning plays and all would be forgiven. But then you'd still have the cantankerous dweebs bitching about all the drops and penalties.

Not saying Harris is this underappreciated gem of a TE. He's just meh. But the guy did make plays and manage to get open a few times in the end zone. And I can't recall any of those crucial end zone balls that he's ever dropped. I don't think the "drop" label with him is all that warranted, but it doesn't really matter. I doubt we bring him back, and even if we did, he'd be doing nothing more than the exact same role he always had with us.

I'll betcha Njoku is happy, though.

PFR states that his catch % in 2014 was 60% but declined to 48% in 2018. (His best year was 63.6% in 2015.) For comparison, Kelce's career catch % is 70.9 while Hill's is 67.9.

According to Player Profiler, Stonehands' target share diminished over time to nearly zero late in 2018. To me, this is an indication of Mahomes' eroding trust in Stonemitts.

Interestingly, that same site ranks his "Catch Radius" in the lowest possible percentile. I found that to be an odd factoid.

The dude is enormous and has 34.25-inch arms which basically makes him a cross between a human and a pterodactyl. Upon reflection, the only explanation I can muster is that he has the "radius" part down but is lacking in the "catch" part.

One other thing people should remember here, is that Harris would not count against the compensatory pick formula because he was released by the Browns. It is not like he will garner a major salary anywhere he goes, but it is a consideration...

Demetrius Harris was an interesting experiment with converting a basketball player to a TE.

He was here for 5 years so I think they pretty much know what his abilities are. He's not a dominating blocker you kind of like a TE to be in the 70% or above catch rate.

I applaud KC for experimenting with low risk players to see how they might develop.

Looking forward to who they might work into the backup TE position.

A tight end who cannot catch is a tackle.

FAXI have honestly, in 43 years of watching college and pro football, never seen another player catch the ball and fall down without being touched more often than Demetrius Harris. It was effing maddening to watch him stumble and fall with another 10-15 yards of open field in front of him.

And that’s his problem. His catch radius doesn’t include anywhere near his body. If it isn’t a circus catch he struggles.

Incompletrius has issues with the Herb, like Bowe did. I'd say if he can't cut it in Cleveland, that's a huge red flag.

I think he more got cut because if they're front office overhaul, he'll catch on somewhere, there are worse things to have than an athletic #2 TE that is a good special teamer.

The guy may not have been as bad of a player as he gets labeled, but his timing was terrible. His drops and penalties always seemed to come at the worst possible time. If he wasn't dropping a third down pass he was called for holding or a false start on a big play. The dude was the opposite of clutch.

RealSNR
02-18-2020, 12:31 PM
I’ve grown to appreciate Bell.

I know the guy was brand new to us, but I just don't see it with him. Again, I can handle a clunky TE2 as long as he's a very good blocker (I don't even need him to be great). Bell is meh at best as a blocker.

And as a receiver, he's not even reliable. Consistently out of position on his routes, oftentimes not anywhere near where Pat intended him to be. That's why a whole bunch of his targets fall incomplete, because he can't ever get the timing right or get a feel for where or how he should find his window. We don't need the guy to be Travis Kelce. Hell, just being a poor man's Anthony Fasano would do the trick. He's not even that, though.

I had hopes throughout the season that he would improve and eventually be serviceable, but I never really saw that out of him. I know he would be inexpensive and basically a vet minimum guy, but now I kind of hope we just let him walk. Roll with Yelder and Lovett, and if Reid doesn't trust those guys, then draft somebody.

I was thinking sort of like the san fran full back where he lines up out sometimes, but ill look into Ricard a little more. Honestly after week 3 i watched only baltimore highlights, its a team i dont like and a qb i think is overrated.

I really didn't know much about him until I watched our game with him and they rolled out a 300lb FB. But when I started to dig into him more, he's something else. He ran something like a 1.48 10-yard split, at 300 lbs. And he has decent hands. We kind of tried that size at FB with Steve Manieri, but he just didn't quite have it. Harbaugh found him one with this guy I think.
