With the end of the decade, it's time for us to select our all-decade team for the 2010s. Credit to Direckshun for the idea; I'm just implementing it.

Here are the rules:

1. I'll put up lists of position groups one at a time.

2. Each list will contain guys who had at least one notable stat line in their career. I'll generally put them in descending order of some key stat.

3. The stats will contain ONLY their body of work between 2010 and 2019 for the Chiefs. No pre-2010 stats and no stats for other teams.

4. The number of roster spots will be the same as the number of roster spots on the 2019 Super Bowl roster for the Chiefs.

5. You can use whatever criteria you want to select the team. It can be total stats for the decade, it can be dominance in a shorter period, it can be playmakers who didn't screw up badly, whatever. It's your call. Feel free to use any criteria not listed in your decision. For example, if you know that Terrance Copper was an amazing blocker, you can build that into your decision.

6. In a subsequent poll we will determine which players are the starters on the all-decade team. In the first round, you're just going to fill the 53-man roster.

Our next position group is kicker. ONE kicker will make the all-decade team. So pick ONE kicker.

As an important note about extra points...

Harrison Butker has kicked for the Chiefs for approximately 2.8 seasons, all of which have been under the new extra point rule that moved the kick back.

Cairo Santos kicked for the Chiefs for approximately 3.2 seasons, of which 2.2 were under the new rule and one was under the old rule.

Ryan Succop kicked for the Chiefs for 4 seasons during the 2010s decade, all of which were under the old rules.

So keep in mind that Butker has had notably more difficult extra points on average and Succop had notably easier extra points, with Santos in the middle.

What’s league average for extra points since they moved it back?

This is critical to my vote.

Why Not?

I don’t see a reasonable way this isn’t 100% for Buttkicker

It appears that the leaguewide average since 2015 is 93.99 percent.

The leaguewide average on field goal attempts since 2015 is 83.87 percent.

We really should send a nice card to the Carolina Panthers, who put Butker on the practice squad so they could keep Graham Gano, who is now out of the league.

This better be 100% Butker. Can’t remember the last time he missed an actual FG

It was a toss-up. Butker is better. We drafted Succop as Mr. Irrelevant. There was at least one game when he actually scored most or all of our points. Plus, I thought he was cute, and I always had him on my fantasy team. You know, total chick reasons...lol. I know Butker will win, so I figured I'd vote heart over logic this time. :)

The funny thing is (I’ve done a deep dive on opposing broadcasts in the postseason through Gamepass) is that Butker grew a reputation for having issues with extra points. I’m not sure how fair that is. I almost wonder if because the Chiefs score so much more, he might miss a higher amount of extra points, but still hits them with the same (or slightly more) regularity as other kickers in the NFL.

Yeah, he's notably better than average. I think you're right in that he just gets a lot more opportunities than most, and as football fans we've been long trained that a missed extra point is a rarity. While it's still an aberration, it's certainly not a rarity any more.

You really gotta admire W’s reflexes, that shot was coming in hot and would’ve popped him squarely in the kisser

Butker is better by other others by just a smidge.

We would have won a title with any of them really.

Rooting for Butker to take the #1 spot on the all-time accuracy list.
And to become the second KC kicker in Canton!

We would have won a title with any of them really.

Idk, if Succop pulled a Tynes, Stoyo, Morton, or Lin and missed a playoff kick from 31 yards out and kept the score at 7-3, it changes the entire complexion of the game.

For instance, the 49ers likely go for 2 when scoring their second TD, with their misdirection and power running game, let's say they get it and go up 21-7.

Damien Williams first TD only knots up the game at 21-21 instead of putting us up 24-20, that means the 49ers O likely sticks with the run and is driving for a game winning FG. We really didn't have to think about FG's this postseason, but a lot of that is a testament to Harrison ****ing Buttkicker.

We don't really pin blame on Stoyo for the 97 loss, but if he makes that long field goal in the first half, Marty likely gives him a chance to make the second one (instead of calling a fake) and at the very least, Grbac is driving for a FG at the end of the game instead a TD. FG misses are huge swings, and Butker never put us in the position where we had to think about it.

Yeah, Succop and Santos were fine serviceable kickers, but I think Butker is far and away better. He's got more range, more accuracy, and I think he was killing the 49ers in the Super Bowl with his kickoff placement.

Harrison Butker is our all-decade kicker, missing a unanimous vote only because of Ryan Succop's cuteness.
