I think we found Asterisk. But he's on the loose again.

The wanted person, identified as Keith E. Brodie, 41, of Columbia, was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant related to failure to appear in court for outstanding child support, as well as a municipal warrant out of Kansas City, Missouri, according to police.

An interesting glimpse into the fractured psyche of your typical Cheatriots fan :

Police say Brodie fled the area at a high rate of speed and officers engaged in a short vehicle pursuit after he refused to stop. Police say officers terminated the pursuit at approximately 8:39 p.m. when they lost sight of Brodie’s truck.

Later that night, at approximately 12:04 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020, police say deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a disturbance involving Brodie in the 6200 block of South West Way in Boone County. It was reported that Brodie fired shots at a male at the residence and left. When deputies arrived, police say Brodie fled in an SUV at a high rate of speed toward Route K.

Police say two officers riding together in a marked Columbia Police vehicle were in the area attempting to get in a position to utilize stop sticks when they spotted Brodie turning west on Route K toward McBaine. Police say that Columbia police officers assisted the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in their pursuit of Brodie, which eventually wound up heading north on Nebo Cemetery Road.

Police say that other officers were responding to the area of the pursuit and set up spikes at the intersection of Nebo Cemetery Road and Route UU. That when police say that Brodie saw the patrol vehicles set up at the intersection, and turned his vehicle around and began driving back toward the pursuing officers, who had stopped and exited their patrol vehicle.

Police say as Brodie's vehicle approached the officers, one CPD officer fired shots at the vehicle. Shortly after, police say Brodie's SUV ran off the roadway near the intersection of Highway UU and Nebo Cemetery Road, and Brodie and a passenger were observed running into the woods.

Police say that neither Brodie or his passenger were able to be located after the pursuit, which included SWAT officers, K9 officers and the Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter. Police say there was no evidence at the scene to indicate that Brodie or the passenger were injured.

Columbia authorities say that the investigation has been referred to the Columbia Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit for review, and that they have also requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol conduct an independent investigation into this incident.

Both the officer who fired the weapon, and the other officer with them, have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.

In the Friday news conference, Columbia Police Chief Geoff Jones acknowledged the delay in releasing the information and said Columbia police would do better in the future.

“We recognize there was a delay in the time of the information being released,” Jones said. “A lot of the events that led up to the shooting are under investigation. We’ve had a lot of discussions about the release of information, and I do pledge to you that we will improve the speed of the release of this type of information in the future.”

“We didn’t know the scope of what had occurred, even with the PIO there. There was a lot that we had to look into. We had to continue a wider search that was about 13 hours long to see if Mr. Brodie or the other occupant of that vehicle had been struck by gunfire. We didn’t see evidence of that in the car or at the scene, but we needed more information, and we don’t want to put out inaccurate information,” Jones said.

“I agree, it took too long to get it out, and that’s my responsibility, and that will improve,” Jones said.

Jones said he does not know the name of the other person that was in the vehicle with Brodie. Jones said he should be treated as if he is armed, and if one knows of Brodie’s whereabouts, they should call 911.

.

Police anyone with further information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652, or CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
