You’d have to think Reich is gonna go full-on Titans run heavy, and limit Rivers attempts to keep that tired arm fresh as possible

They have a couple decent linemen (Castonzo and especially Nelson), but struggling to name skill players. yeesh. Is Marlon Mack still the RB there?

Good for them, now they can ride the broke-dick QB carousel for a few seasons after tanking for Luck after the Manning years.

The big question here is, why? I'd go with Brissett over Rivers.

Luck fucked them over so hard.

If I was a Colts fan I would never forgive him for the stunt he pulled. That team was a ready made contender with a ton of cap room and then he took a hammer and destroyed everything they had set up.

Now they’re desperately trying to salvage the Luck window by plugging in old man Rivers.

Trash other than Hilton, and he's 30 and missed 8 games the last 2 years.

Man I really would’ve just built up the rest of the team and rolled with Brissett this year... Rivers may have the usual vet savvy, but his arm is hanging on with bailing wire and duct tape

It’s a cheap band-aid that really only hinders them in the long term

Brissett is awful. Teams figured him out and he was screwed. He’s a good backup, that’s it.

The Colts' owner (Irsay) is a pill popping/drunk loser that got lucky landing both Manning & Luck. Now and FOR-E-VER fuck the Colts. Absolutely hate that franchise.

Do you reeeally think that roster/staff/organization as a whole is ready to make a legit run at the belt?

I just don’t think they’re THERE yet, and Phil just eats up money and time best spent elsewhere IMVHO

No, I don’t. Rivers is a one year stopgap. My guess is they have their eye on one of the quarterbacks who’ll be available later in the draft. Or they just try again next year.

Colts sign former Chargers QB Philip Rivers to a one-year deal

INDIANAPOLIS — The rumor has become reality.

Indianapolis has agreed to terms with long-time Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in free agency, a source confirmed to IndyStar, in a move that likely ends Jacoby Brissett’s time as the Colts’ starter at the position.

The Colts signed the 38-year-old Rivers to a one-year deal worth $25 million, according to ESPN.

Seems like a pretty expensive stopgap, but if you fans are ok with it... roll with him :thumb:

Also, Baby Finster is still one of the best avs here... wow do I miss those old WB cartoons

In true Colts fashion, they'll get "unlucky" this year and happen to be at the right place and the right time to draft Trevor Lawrence

Brady and Rivers are going to be so sad.

If the Bucs get a better OL put together I think Brady will be fine. I'm not sure what his motivation is anymore, though. Is he playing for career stats? Is he playing for money and fun? Or is he playing for championships? I'm going with the former. I think he's there to beat Brees' numbers and Arians' offense might make that possible.

Yes they did. Oh wait no playing Curtis painter for basically the whole year was totally not a tanking move. You're right. He's so good. It cracks me up how colts fans just can't admit it, like it's some badge of honor.

It’s incredibly tiring going thru this same bullshit all the time. That team didn’t tank any more than they did this past year. They were hamstrung by bad luck and incompetence from Polian.

Every single coach from that team got fired at the end of the season and Polian never got another NFL job. That’s how bad that staff was. They were propped for years by Manning and when he got hurt, it all fell apart.

They were just bad. It’s nothing more than sour grapes trying to claim they intentionally tanked. There’s never been a shred of evidence for it.

By the way, they signed Kerry Collins after Polians golden boy Curtis Painter proved to be atrocious. He would have played most of the year had he not gotten hurt.

Funny watching all of these teams signing retread QB's and thinking they will get a better result. How could anyone watch Rivers play from last year and think...that is the clutch QB I want guiding my team!!

Hmmmm. this is an odd place for him IMHO. Mentor Texas Brisket into being a better QB? I don't see any similarities in style or talent or type of QB.

Not my first choice.
