Was thinking along similar lines, though I don't think Kelce is ever going anywhere. Travis will retire a Chief, probably when he's 35-36.

But this guy looks to be a significant upgrade over any TE2 we've had over the last 5-6 years, and could be the key to making the offense completely unstoppable a la the Patriots O back when Aaron Hernandez and Gronk were together. Along with Hill, Watkins and Hardman there'd be no stopping them.

He could be. A lot depends on his football acumen.

But imagine Kelce, Hill, Watkins, Hardman, and Seals all on the field at the same time. No RB, just TEs and WRs. Everyone can run and everyone can catch. It would definitely blow any DC's mind.

I like this signing and think it's excellent work by Brett Veach but good grief, some of you guys need to temper your expectations.

It's clear that Veach had a plan coming into the 2020 season and that it wasn't formed yesterday. He's been playing the Long Game since he became the GM and he's proving to be one of the best, if not currently the best GM in the NFL.

He knew the Chiefs would be cap-strapped but attractive, especially after winning a Super Bowl. But unlike the 2019 offseason, when he pushed the Salary Cap to its limit and therefore had to scrounge and trade for guys with a year left on their contracts (Ogbah & Lee) or guys looking for Prove-It deals (Claiborne, Breeland, Damien Wilson and others), he's stacking up Comp Picks by allowing those same guys to sign with other teams, while once again, signing guys like Seals-Jones to Prove-It deals that will either lead to Comp Picks or contract extensions.

It's a brilliant plan that so far, has been executed brilliantly.

Well said!

A bunch of the moves he made last year were late in free agency. The Chiefs have one of the best personnel departments in the league and it allows great drafting but also quality cheap free agents and trades.

Veach seems to be a genius at many aspects of the gm position. He might not be a excellent figure head or leader in a sense, but i dont think it's needed here. Reid is the one in charge, but one of his best traits is he trusts his guys. Veach is the same. Theres no ego from the top down, so you have a completely selfless staff - who all have a say. I think this should lead to sustained success. Who wouldn't want to be part of that?

Yes. I think the 2TE sets create matchup problems for defenses.

If you have 2 legit pass catching targets, it forces the Defense to pick their poison. If they play small, Reid can exploit the run game. If they try to go bigger to stop the run...... good luck to them.

I see Reid trying to establish the run a little more this year, as a way to protect Mahomes and reduce wear and tear.

Starting with the 2020 CBA, under App. V, §10, players who sign Veteran Salary Benefit contracts will not be eligible to become CFAs.

Also starting with the 2020 CBA, under App. V, §11, teams may exclude UFAs from the compensatory formula if the player signs a 1 year contract for less than approximately $1.75 million.

Haha basically all of our signings are one year deals and lower than 1.75 mil besides Watkins

The 2 TE set could be deadly now. Nice signing.

It doesn't need to be deadly.

Seals-Jones presence in a 2 tight end set needs to freeze the linebackers and safeties for just a fraction of a second to allow Kelce, Hill and Watkins a chance to get open.

If he makes the catch, all the better.

Jones is a better all-around TE2 than any they have had paired with Kelce.

That’s exciting. With his size and speed he can really make teams pay for not paying attention to him.

Agreed, which is why he doesn't need to be Zach Ertz to be effective in the Chiefs offense, which is laden with weapons at every level.

Just the mere threat of another skilled receiver should be enough to open up this offense just a bit wider, which is super exciting.

Incompletrious Harris even got open plenty of times simply bc teams lost track of him. There were consistent occasions were he was wide open and he scored on a few of them.

Jones looks like he’s got the athleticism of Harris with hands that actually catch the ball.

Man if we get a new LG and complimentary back, this could be the best offense in history.

Yeah, exactly. I was looking at Troutman out of Dayton as a potential add in the 4th for KC, but that type of stab can wait a year now.

As long as they have Mahomes and 3 playmakers for him, the rest of the pieces can be more complementary. Hill, Kelce, and Watkins set that up.

That is why I’m cool with spending an early pick on a WR/RB who can fill the role when Watkins leaves after this year and be primed to be one of those playmakers in future years. Seems like a good year to lock up that WR opposite Hill.

“Crazy fanbase,” Seals-Jones said. “That fanbase is, I would say, top five in the NFL. Great atmosphere. I’m excited to be a part of it and not against it.”

Wait until the Home Opener- he will be bumping us up to #1.

I just listened to his "conference call" (available on your local utoob channel). I put "conference call" in quotes because, IMHO, it was more incomprehensible static than "call" and interrogation than "conference".

Anyhow, he seems nice and all. I found the revelation that he discussed the Chiefs organization with Stonehands to be interesting ... moreso because he said Stonehands spoke highly of the franchise, the lockerroom culture, and the way the team is run. I'm not sure I would have expected that. I'm also a bit surprised that anybody would take Stonehands' opinion on much of anything.

I felt a little bad for the dude, though. The questions were the typically lame ones we have come to expect from KC media-types (particularly the ones from the local radio stations) and he seemed a bit stumped a few times (due, no doubt, to his attempt to figure out what the actual question was).

However, I'm skeptical that any newbie will find it easy to integrate into this offense given a limited off-season program. Moving from the Chute Pickles to the Super Bowl Champions is not going to be a seamless transition.

If there is any delay to the offseason I fully expect the Chiefs offense to break all records for production. Since nearly the entire starting 11 is being brought back they most likely will not require a lot of time to get in sync. If the Chiefs find a legitimate rushing threat I really don't know who could stop them. The Ravens are obviously building a defense to stop our passing attack, so it would be nice to have a strong rushing attack to help beat teams like them.

Without a viable vaccine, I don't know if the home opener will have much of a crowd if one is allowed at all.

I would argue Anthony Fasano was the best pairing with Kelce. Unfortunately, it only lasted one year with Kelce missing all of his rookie season.

I am excited for Seals-Jones though. That was a good under the radar signing that other AFC West fans will be jealous of midway through the season.
