Interesting. Not sure what kind of cash we will have to play with, but with Sammy and Demarcus likely leaving, and Veach's insistence on surrounding Pat with elite talent, this could be an intriguing option next year.

Highly doubt we could afford him but if we could......the NFL would be fucked.

A bit surprising, but I guess it makes sense considering their ability to draft WR’s.

Steelers must feel really good about those guys.

MVPat threw a no look to him in the Pro Bowl that bounced off him.
They loled later and JuJu mentioned how awesome it was playing with Pat....?

Was on my do not draft list last fantasy season because he is a slot receiver who was forced into the X role when Brown went loco.

That said he would make a fantastic replacement for Robinson / Sammy next year but zero chance of that happening.

He’s a really good #2, maybe the best. But not a #1 at all.

JuJu also just had a really bad year without AB, they may not think he's all that good.

JuJu is fool's gold. He looked like hot garbage without AB pulling DBs to his side every game.

No let's just draft a new one. Between the contracts there's not going to be any money left.

Some fantasy podcast went into a deep dive about how he basically fully maxed out his opportunities when AB was there. Then everyone was like AB is gone and now Juju is going to keep ascending! And the pod was like uh AB is gone, he's playing a new position and taking the best DBs the other team has?

Yeah don't reach for Juju. I saw him get drafted with the first pick in the second round of a snake draft and just lol. Do some research.

However he's a great #2 and in this offense would be outstanding.

James Washington, Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool.

Steelers must feel really good about those guys.

Those guys + JuJu, James Connor and some guy named Anthony McFarland, who most of this board loved (for good reason).

I don’t really think it’s a hot take to say that if Big Ben is healthy, they are a better team than the Ravens.

Yea Denver is going to spend big money on a WR when they just drafted 2 in the first 2 rounds and they already have Courtland Sutton.

Not to mention Rodgers isn’t going anywhere until at least 2022. Have you even seen his dead cap hit for next year?

You can't say he's not a number one based off last season when he had scrubs throwing to him all year. The kid is also still young and is likely to get better.

Also, on the Chiefs, he wouldn't be a number one, so it further validates the case for him.

***If*** the money is right. Maybe he'd give us a Pat Mahomes discount for a chance to win a ring.

So this probably might be why they aren’t paying him..

TJ Watt
Bud Dupree
Alejandro Villanueva
David DeCastro
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Big Ben

All those players are FA’s in 2021 and 2022. Gonna have to spend big on these guys, and even then they’ll lose one or two of them

In fact you could say that Hill is the best replacement for AB in the league as a #1

it's nice to dream but it will never happen.

People were complaining about Watkins compensation? Never going to be able to afford Ju-Ju. He's going to command and get more than Watkins.

There’s absolutely no chance they’re letting DeCastro walk.

There’s absolutely no chance they’re letting DeCastro walk.

Probably not, and I’d agree that he would be the least likely outside of Fitz/Watts, but due to age and positional value I wouldn’t call him a lock.

Make no mistake about it, Fitzpatrick and Watt will be their top priorities.

Diontae Johnson was a steal. No need to pay Juju when you keep drafting like that.

TomBarndtsTwin
05-05-2020, 07:17 AM
This is an exercise in futility.

The days of signing big time FA’s for lots of money are over.

Once they lock Jones and Pat up, going forward, they will need to focus on retaining their own key guys, draft well, and sign bargain FA’s on a short 1 or 2 year deals who want to come play with Pat and Andy for a chance at a ring.

That’s where we’re at now.

With the contracts of Pat, Jones, Clark & Tyreek on the books, we won’t be seeing any big time FA signings in KC for several years.

And that’s just fine with me. Those RARELY work out anyway.

Here’s to a new era. :toast:

It was so, so bad. I'm still shocked though. Tons of WRs out there produce at a high level in spite of shitty QB play.

What's also interesting is that Juju and Sammy's stats were pretty similar. Smith-Shuster had 550 yards in 13 games to Watkins' 670 in 14. The potential to be great is there but, like Sammy, I don't think Juju is worth a max contract.

We never wanted to we thought they would.

Kind of hard to tell when you would say stuff like this at the same time.

your reasoning seems to be based on emotional ties to Chris Jones.

It's very John Dorsey to overpay a defensive player and not manage the cap.

And I wildly disagree that Chris Jones' production is unreplaceable.

I see that it is hard to tell but those are also two different opinions that aren't mutually exclusive.

And from all that we've heard they tried to trade him or at least entertain offers. The world is a lot different now than when we had this argument. I am glad they are trying to keep him and that the draft was also great.

I mean you were clearly implying that it would be a bad decision to sign him.

Also, the bold part is complete and utter bullshit. There’s no indication that the Chiefs were actively shopping Jones and it seems pretty obvious the plan was always to keep him. Like I told you back then Terez and Taylor are the most reliable Chiefs media guys there are and they’ve been saying the plan is/was to keep Jones from the beginning. You decided to listen to fucking Soren Petro instead.

You trying to act like you weren’t dead wrong about all of this is hilarious. You pretty much celebrated your “victory” because of a Jones tweet early too. Maybe you wanted to keep Jones, but you wanted to be right more than anything.

Did Smith-Shuster also have a TE who caught 100 balls for 1200 yards and a WR who caught 60 balls for 850 yds on the field with him last year?

Because Sammy Watkins did...
