Haven't read it yet but dude was a fucking monster in the playoffs. The catch he made against the Titans to seal the game is still one of my favorite plays of the year. But he made countless plays throughout the entire playoffs.

He’s averaging 97 yards on 5 catches in his postseason career with the Chiefs with 2 100 yard games and a 98 yard game.

Kelce is averaging 67 yards on about 6 catches per postseason game during that same stretch.

Hill is averaging 65 yards on about 5 catches per postseason game.

My favorite part about this roster is that our stars show up when it really counts.

Huh. I'm glad that Veach didn't give him a long-term contract this offseason. People can believe whatever they want to believe about the supernatural, and that's fine. I don't have a problem with that at all.

But that whole article just smacks of someone who is highly unpredictable. Someone who may decide to just walk off the team on an impulse.

I don't doubt his talent, but I for sure question his reliability now.

This cracked me up, and really shows that Reid can connect with just about any player imaginable:

He thinks about his relationship with Reid. It's the best he's ever had with a coach. It started with 11 p.m. phone calls his first year in Kansas City. "Hey, Starship! How you doing?" (Reid calls him "Starship 14.") Reid would ask about life, about his two girls. (Watkins' daughters love Reid.) Their energies match. Reid gets him. Once, in a team meeting, Watkins leaned back to stretch a sore neck, and Reid, out of nowhere, yelled at him. "Sammy, stop! Stop talking to your people! They've been visiting me in my sleep! Stop!" Confused, Watkins asked him what he meant. "You know, Mars, Neptune…"

I know several people who subscribe to what he believes, he just believes all of them. I respect him for believing what he believes and not giving a fuck what anyone else says. That being said i hope this shit scares other teams off and hes a chief at a reasonable price for 4-5 more years.

Well he mentioned Sean McDermott by name.

It was when he was talking about the Chiefs.

"And he knows there are those on the Chiefs who haven't appreciated this all. He won't name names, but he could sense bad energy, from players and coaches alike. He could see it in one person's eyes, in the hallway, when that person then did a 180 to walk the other direction. He felt it when someone told him during one game that he could injure himself if he entered, and, "Boom," Watkins says, "I get hurt." He thinks one coach, at times, was playing for the other team. He thinks there are some on the staff who'd rather lose than see him succeed."

Someone should point out that Sammy acted in Buffalo exactly like everybody else in Buffalo.

But here's what you did not see: a 21-year-old drinking every night. That's no exaggeration. Watkins partied "every night"—yes, "every night," he repeats—turning downtown Buffalo's Chippewa Street into his own personal frat party. Beer, liquor—Watkins didn't discriminate in lighting his $12.8 million signing bonus on fire with friends who followed him north. "Living fast," he calls it, holding up a pretend blunt. Yeah, he smoked plenty too.

He treated his body terribly.

“I would go out and get wasted,” he says. “Wasted wasted.”

Then he’d wake up, go to practice and suffer the consequences. Along the way, his body deteriorated. When he thinks back on it, he admits now: Those injuries were largely a result of his own behavior.

..

Watkins never demanded a trade, but he wanted out. Needed out. Literally stared into a mirror in his St. John Fisher College dorm room at Bills training camp and prayed, nightly, Get me out of here. Please, God.

I wonder if the Chiefs would have restructured his deal had they read this passage?

So this team had better be ready to feed him the ball. "I'm praying and hope they do right by me if I go back," he says. "If they don't, it's going to be World War III. Seriously. Because I feel like I've been doing everything in my power to stay positive, to continue to uplift everybody on the team. To put myself last, to literally always put myself last."

While reading this article, I was brought back to his Super Bowl interviews, where we eventually found out that he likes to spout nonsense to reporters just to see if they'll run with it.

Even if everything in the article is true, I don't really care. 14 can wear crotch-less panties and clown shoes and call himself "sun lizard" in his private life as long as he keeps being Starship on the field.

Not going to comment on the whole "WWIII" thing. Could be just more Watkins' speak.

But those numbers are achievable. A 100 targets is about 7/game. Much of last season he was targeted far less than that, through no fault of his own. If half the offense hadn't gotten hurt in the first half of the season, he might've reached most of those numbers in 2019. He 'took one for the team' for about half the season, maybe more.

If he and the offense, can stay healthy this year, I can see him catching 75-85 balls for 1,100-1,300 yards and 12-15 TDs.

Yeah, but it's weird because I don't think he's ever had a prima donna attitude, even in Buffalo and LA. That's what I like so much about Sammy, he quietly goes about his business. He's a team player who blocks, plays decoy, and makes huge plays at crucial times. He's a perfect fit for a team that has so many stars.
