That should be what his agent pushed very hard on, especially since the Chiefs are likely getting a discount in the later years of his contract compared to what the average QB will be getting. We know the Dak Prescotts of the world are gonna keep driving the QB market higher and higher.

Meanwhile, this 12-year total contract puts pressure on all the other teams around the league. Deshaun Watson's agents already leaked that they would demand a better contract than Mahomes. So that means Houston is now on the clock and they are in a corner. Do they give him a 12-year contract? Same goes for Baltimore with Lamar Jackson, etc.

I think you are right. This dude was an incredible player in college and lost a ton of games because the roster around him was absolute trash.
