It's pretty ridiculous that apparently he's only requesting to be paid in line with the other RBs on the team (little under 5 million) and they won't make good with him.

I’m not saying he’s anything spectacular but he was clearly their best back to my eye. Not a total system RB thing, he was actually better than the surrounding cast.

There goes the whiners run game. That leaves them a huge gap on offense for a team expected to again contend this season.

It matters not. You could put Stevie Wonder in that system and get 1k yards.

The Rat’s offensive running system is the best I’ve ever seen. Also why Terrell Davis being in the HOF is laughable

Caps force you to make hard decisions. It is what it is. RB’s are set up to be screwed over because of the way rookie deals work and how short their careers are.

Mostert is 28 and IMO will be a flash in the pan guy anyway.

When your backups are two guys that can’t stay healthy, I wouldn’t say it doesn’t matter.

I will always be thankful Shanny chose to only give him 12 carries in the Super Bowl. He really out-thought himself with Mostert the entire game.

And? Mostert was cut from 6 teams before he got picked up by Rat Jr. Matt Brieda was an UDRFA when he was picked up.

Shit dude look at all the scrubs that looked great in that system? Rouben Droughns, Orlandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Clinton Portia, Quinton Griffin.

That system will make ANY RB look good

The 49ers currently have more than $12 million in available cap space.

They're also paying Tevin Coleman, who had 200 yards and 2 TD's less than Mostert last year, more than $1.7 million more than Mostert.

Their running game with Mostert was better than it’s been since Shanny Jr. got there.

I’m not saying they won’t find somebody productive, but this certainly isn’t a good thing when you have two brokedicks behind him.

Shanny has a weird loyalty to Coleman. I know he values guys who know his system (for good reason) but Coleman never really stuck out to me.

9ers run game will be among the best no matter who they go with. Mostert is one of like 5 backs who have looked brilliant for them in the last 2 years.

They’ll just have to find another RB to not hand the ball to when they are up 10 in the 4th quarter.

Mostert has Jamaal Charles like speed (though not his vision) and can score from anywhere on the field. The Niners don't currently have a back who has that type of game-changing speed. Knowing Shanny, it's quite possible he will find a UDFA with 4.3 speed because, well, it's what his family just seems to do best.

I really did not understand the snaps Shanny was giving to Coleman over Mostart in the postseason. It reminded me of the snaps Jones kept getting over Charles in 2010. Jones was solid, but it never made sense as to why Charles wasn't getting more snaps.

Jones probably got too many carries overall, but I always thought in a weird way, he might have made Charles more effective. Made it so he didn't have to carry the load, and Jones was a completely different back. When Charles came in it was like seeing a relief pitcher with 100 mph fastball. A really hard adjustment to make, and Charles averaged over 6 ypc with Jones as the starter.

Mostert was kind of the same, he didn't start a regular season game. Although I'm not sure if it's quite the same as it seems like all the Shanahan backs are somewhat similar. Mostert can flat out fly, but so can Breida. Mostert sure looked like the best of the 3 backs though.

Now that Breida is with the Phins they’ll lack that home run speed out of the backfield if they lose Mostert (unless you count Deebo).

One question is would Mostert even have a real market as a 28 year old RB if he did look elsewhere?

I totally missed that Breida went to the Dolphins. They didn't draft a RB either. I'm sure they'll just find some undrafted FA to bring in and run for 1000 yards. It's the Shanahan way.

That it is.

It still gives me too much satisfaction to finally have a Chiefs team that obliterated that strategy in the Super Bowl. Watching Eric Hicks bite on those Plummer boots is forever etched into my nightmares.

They signed two of them I believe. one of them is Salvon Ahmed who is another speedy guy who seems to fit Kyle's system.

I agree that Shanarat's system is plug n play for RB's. He can trade Mostert and still have a dominant run game.

I also agree that Mostert is their most explosive back so losing him is not nothing.

People forget they also already lost Deebo for a chunk of the season.

They’re going to have a very tough time recovering from that SB hangover.

Not sure they lost Deebo. Last I heard he had surgery and expected to be ready in time for week 1.

I’ve seen that and I think it’s a VERY optimistic prediction based on when this injury occurred and the current situation.

I wonder how glad that guy is happy he quit drinking.

He probably just made 15m on Mahomes' contract not counting endorsements which he probably makes a bigger percentage on.
