Saw this coming. Not the actual numbers, but a long-term deal and top-3 money. Browns needed to do this. Garret is the linchpin of their D.

I just looked. Seems he's ranked in the top 5 DE on some sites.

Avg a sack a game until he hit Rudolph.

Yes.

Probably the best true 4-3 DE in the game. Kid's an absolute monster and among the first few guys in the league I'd look to build a defense around.

Probably not.

But when all is said and done, many great players don't. Might as well get rich now and consider ring chasing in 5-6 years.

There's no room at the inn here in KC for at least 3-4 seasons (when Clark ages out) so we'll gladly offer him a nice landing spot then. Mahomes will need some veteran leadership around by then to break in a new crew for his next wave of titles by about 2024 so things should dovetail nicely.

Not saying I'd let him babysit my kids. At least not the 2 that I like.

That girl twin, OTOH, could use a little firmer hand...

In either event, the question was ability and Garrett is friggen loaded with it. He reminds me of a better version of Dwight Freeney. He could be in that John Randle, Julius Peppers tier when all is said and done.

My best friend is a browns fan, so I say this with a certain level of knowledge watching Garrett play.

He’s good, but overrated.

Doesn’t take over games like a player with his ability should.

I can't say I watch a ton of Browns football, but what he did to the Steelers in that weird game they died a couple years back was a damn clinic. They had no idea at all how to handle him.

It was a thoroughly dominant performance to my eyes.

Ah, no disrespect, but the numbers don't bear that out:
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GarrMy00.htm

Of course, he hasn't really played enough, much less enough big games, to know for certain but his numbers alone say that he's probably a generational type player.

30.5 sacks in 37 career games. What does dominance look like to you?

It might be situational. Like does he come up big in Critical 3rd down plays like Chris Jones does?

In fairness, the Browns haven’t played in very many big games like the Chiefs have the past few years.

He flashes that ability, but isn’t consistently great. He completely disappeared in many games, even in a contract year. Very frustrating player.

He has 3-4 game stretches where he shows the talent to be like a Strahan type of player then disappears for an equal amount of games.

Good signing by the Browns. He is arguably the second or third best player taken in his draft. The three most important positions on the field are the QB, the guy who protects the QBs blind side, and the guy who sack the QB. Garrett is very good at getting after the QB and he hasn’t even hit his prime yet.

Megatron96

He has 3-4 game stretches where he shows the talent to be like a Strahan type of player then disappears for an equal amount of games.

And yet he still somehow managed to rack up 31 sacks in 37 games . . . and you might look up Strahan while you're at it. He apparently went multiple 3-4 game stretches where he did basically nothing stat-wise, throughout his career.

This contract will end up haunting them.

Did you miss the part where he tried to hit another player over the head with a weapon?Sure. The only thing about him that is "dangerous", though, is his pass-rush, which is historically outstanding.

You must have been one of those idiots that wanted Tyreek cut.

what kind of logic is that? And you can go check, I never wanted Tyreek cut, those people were mostly twatter tards.

Imagine thinking that trying to kill someone or seriously hurt someone on the field is behavior that should be rewarded.

The Hakeem Olajuwon of the 2017 NFL Draft.

{tips cap}

And Trubisky is Sam Bowie.

I like that Olajuwon comparison because at the time the pick was made it was the consensus pick and ultimately the player had a great career...

...but he wasn't Jordan.

Very apt comparison.

He has 3-4 game stretches where he shows the talent to be like a Strahan type of player then disappears for an equal amount of games.

For what it's worth, I had this argument with Clay probably a decade ago regarding Elvis Dumerville and guys like Jared Allen, etc...

Bottom line is that just about every single 'great' pass rusher you can name did exactly what you're saying. Those guys all got their sacks in bunches - it's the nature of the beast.

I mean Bruce Smith and Reggie White may be exceptions to the rule here, but if you're a premier pass rusher, you're racking up 80% of your sacks in probably 40% of your games, by and large.

MYLES GARRETT
DECORATES HOME W/ NFL QB GRAVESTONES
... For Halloween

https://imagez.tmz.com/image/03/4by3/2021/10/14/03c7056d57024a9f8340cb8f7146a77a_md.jpg

It's officially spooky season at Myles Garrett's house ... 'cause the Cleveland Browns superstar has decorated his home for Halloween -- with gravestones of NFL QBs!!!

The 25-year-old put out the set up at his Ohio pad just a few days ago ... laying headstones on his front lawn with seven quarterbacks' last names, numbers and helmets on them.

The list of signal-callers features opposing players on the Browns' schedule this season ... including AFC North rivals Lamar Jackson, Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Burrow.

The other four names include Bears' Justin Fields, Patriots' Mac Jones, Cardinals' Kyler Murray and Chargers' Justin Herbert.

Unclear why other QBs on the Browns' schedule like Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers missed the cut ... but you can see in photos, obtained by TMZ Sports, it's all hilarious nonetheless.

Each "grave" has it's own light fixed on it ... and on Jackson's and Jones', the words "RIP" and "Here lies" are written on the top.

There's also two giant skeletons, a scarecrow, pumpkins and more on the property!!

Of course, some could perceive these as possible bulletin board material for Myles' opponents ... but even all the motivation in the world ain't going to help tackles block Garrett better.
