The inventor of blues-rock.

They just did that tribute to him in February, too.

I always found him to be a cultureless swine compared to Regis Philbin. ;)

Used to listen to the Smokehouse Blues years ago, rare chance to hear Peter Green tracks on the radio. Amazing that so many of those cats of his generation grew up within a few miles of each other, what a talent pool. Peter had a tough existence, RIP.

What can be said? A legendary guitarist, songwriter and bandleader. He started a band called Fleetwood Mac. He wrote many great songs, "Albatross", "Black Magic Woman", "Green Manalishi", "Oh Well", "Rattlesnake Shake"...he was generous with his talent and was rather selfless about the spotlight: he named his band after the rhythm section and gave his protege Danny Kirwan many opportunities to shine in a band that Green could have totally dominated.

He had his struggles and harrowing times, but it seems he finally found a life of peace. Rest easy Peter.

Cofounder of Fleetwood Mac which was originally a very blues oriented band. One hell of a Les Paul slinger.

One of my favorites. I kept holding out that there would be some sort of reunion with Fleetwood Mac, especially since they did that tribute to him in February...

He gets rightful credit for his world class guitar playing, but he was one HELL of a blues singer, too.

Correct. Peter Green actually had talent.

Oh dang. I absolutely know about Fleetwood Mac, one of the greats. Being younger I just tend to not know names of people in many of the older bands for some reason.

He wouldn’t have been in the iterations of Fleetwood Mac that you’re familiar with.

He WAS Fleetwood Mac. He formed the band and created it's name.

Oh I see. Even then, outside of the lead singers of the older bands, I just don’t know many names. Just the music.

Thank you.

RIP great man you were the Fleetwood Mac that I remembered when my eldest brother brought the album Then Play On we wore it out in the basement. I can still hear dad holler down from top stairs turn that crap down.

Okay, this one hurts. Peter Green is the ultimate under the radar great. He was so smooth he made it sound like it was nothing special. I love Page, I love Clapton, Hendrix, Ronson, Mick Taylor, etc. But, Green may be my all time favorite.

I think it was B.B. King that said the tone of Peter Green’s guitar made him wake up in a cold sweat.

He was also an amazing and underrated blues singer, which may have been overlooked because, like his guitar, he was so subtle and smooth.

If you want to understand the tortured souls that exist in our world, listen to “Man of the World” by the the original Fleetwood Mac.

I know everyone loves Santana’s version of Black Magic Woman but the original version by Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac is still much cooler.

Greenie was one of my favorite guitarists of that era, maybe just behind Jeff Beck for me.

The drug induced schizophrenia really robbed him of what would have otherwise put him on the same pantheon of Beck, Clapton and Page.

It really sucks ass that both he and Gary Moore are no longer with us...
