Yes, it’s been known for a while now, but it was buried in the Mahomes thread. Never had a thread of its own.

What is it you like about Braums? Honest question, we've had many in Springfield for more than a decade and I've never had anything from there I'd consider above average for fast food. Their crinkle-cut fries are okay...I guess.

In my opinion Whataburger is the best chain burger out there...and totally agree with you about In and Out. When In and Out came here people lined up for blocks...when I finally went I was like WTF? Now we have White Castle here too and I'm hearing my friends say same about them...must be nostalgia.

I liked their burgers quite a bit as a teenager. That's a tragedy is they have changed. I dont care much for crinkle cut fries from there, Culvers, or anywhere. Tastes like cafeteria food to me.

I was in St. Louis because I'm a moron, with my wife, and we tried the white castle there because I watched the Harold and Kumar go to White Castle movies and because I heard it was great.

Literally terrible, the sliders at chilis are better, I have no idea why people would like them. Maybe I just got a bad bunch, but they were basically inedible.

Pouring thousand island dressing on top doesn't make the actual fries any good.

Nostalgia definitely plays a part. Growing up we’d go down a few times a year and we’d always stop at Whataburger. It was our thing. We’d talk more about visiting Whataburger than we would about visiting grandma. Rationally, I know I oversell it in my head because I associate so much with good memories, but I don’t care, still excited.

In and Out, with which I have no connection from my youth, was incredibly disappointing when I had it for the first time and have no desire to ever have it again.

Five Guys and Whataburger aren’t really competitors though. One is fast food and the other is fast casual. Five Guys competes against Smashburger and Shake Shack. It’s like comparing Taco Bell to Chipotle.

Back in the early 90s Livesteam and I hit one up in Norman, OK and thought they were pretty fucking good. But I imagine like anything else they've starting skimping over the years, but I'll give them a try again when I'm in KC.

On a side note, if you ever happen to have the misfortune to find yourself in, or passing through Omaha, find a Don and Millie's. They're a local chain that far and away has the best burgers I've ever had anywhere...whether we're talking sit down, fast food or anything in between.

Similar to Mr. Goodcemts sammich place here locally. Back in the 90s.....awesome. Now, it’s $10 bucks for some bread and a pound of lettuce with three slices of turkey,.

Goodcents blows ass since the middle easterners bought it about a decade or ore ago.

Best bike trail network in the midwest, awesome riverfront, breweries and lots of great places to eat all over the metro area. I've hit up Tasty Tacos several times but still haven't been to Zombie Burger. Brickyard Burgers in Adel is solid, we stop in there almost every time we're up that way.

Subway was my first job back in the mid 90s when that much superior v-cut was still a thing. After they switched to the side slice I’d ask for the old way for a time. I eventually gave up on it as it reached the point where I had to start explaining what I was wanting.

It just is so much better at keeping all the goodies in the sandwich.

Definitely strikes me as a place I'd go to once just for the experience but likely never return.

Red Robin - good burgers and big variety along with great steak fries, nice and crispy.

Culvers - excellent butter burger and their crinkle cut fries are fantastic and crispy as well as their shakes

Wendy's - still the best out of the Big 3 in terms of flavor and size. Their buns are the best but their fries still suck most times

Whataburger - pretty good but I find their buns too dry and big for their burgers. Fries are just OK. Decent shakes

Shake Shack - pretty good as well

Smashburger - very good and had two original the other night during my dinner break along with a Sam Adams, no fries.

Johnny Rockets - excellent burgers and shakes but sometimes they can be a little too greasy

Fuddruckers - probably some of the BEST burgers you will ever have but just never took off with poor marketing. I think people didn't like to wait 10 minutes for a burger that was supposed to be fast food. I love their burgers.

Five Guys - I would go to their original location in Alexandria and their burgers are real good but their fries are WAY overrated

In and Out- good burgers but the WORST fries of everyone. Bland sticks of nothing.

Steak n Shake - hit or miss but not bad burgers and a few more items than just burgers

Never did Freddy's but there is one in Tempe just down the block from Amazon that I will try on my dinner break one of these evenings.

Carl's, Jack in the Box, Sonic - All about the same. Good when you're drunk

White Castle - The Taco Bell of Burger's. Your ass knows why....

Burger King - One small step above McDonald's in flavor. Not much else going for it

McDonald's - The winner of the shittiest, greasiest, saltiest, smallest burger-to-bun ratio of all.

Agreed. It's probably over-hyped for sure. People are expecting some kind of Burger Epiphany, and they are disappointed on their first try...they are missing the point. In-N-Out is fresh and consistent, the restaurants are clean and the food is pretty solid.

If you don't go in with any ridiculous expectations, you won't be disappointed.

As a SOCAL transplant from KC, It took me awhile to "get it", now it's pretty much the only fast food I eat. If you can even consider it fast food. They are pretty slow. Oh, and I LOVE the fries. Acquired taste maybe.

Five Guys is disgusting, way too greasy. Gross.

Much like Braums, I dont get people's fascination with Freddy's either. Their burgers are decent but Culver's are a lot better imo.

The Habit Burger is the best fast or fast casual burger I've ever had.

This is why I'll never understand why I see so many people land at LAX or in San Diego, etc; and go straight to In N Out.

In N Out burgers aren't bad (of course, just smother everything in sauce!), but unless you're down to your last $7 and/or aren't able to wait a few extra minutes for The Habit or Smashburger, etc.... there are so many better burgers and you'll get far far far better sides.

It is kind of like comparing Taco Bell with Chipotle... yet, WTF would you ever go to Taco Bell?

There's a burger joint across from Arkansas Tech U in Russellville called Feltner's Whatta-Burger. it's not part of the Texas Whataburger chain. It's been voted the best burger joint in Arkansas multiple times. I used to stop there going down to Hot Springs to see my parents. They are light years better than the Texas Chain. If you're ever driving I-40 across Arkansas, stop in and get a burger, fries and a shake. It's outstanding. https://www.whatta-burger.com/

Culver’s has a surprisingly decent pot roast dinner, and it’s a very generous platter as well.

And as far as fast food goes, their fried shrimp dinner ain’t half bad. Blows LJS’s shrimp out of the water any way.

We don't have many fast food places near us but we have a Checkers and a Tastee Freez (rebranded as The Freez). I've tried the Checkers once and was happy, reminded me of the glory days on Linwood and Main in KC. Really quality bun and the fries were as good as I remember them. I'll hit The Freez a few times a summer, maybe later today actually. Neither are as good as the corner hotdog stands doing char burgers here though.

I've enjoyed a green chile double from Whataburger not so long ago. Think someone here recommended it.

Shake Shake - pretty good as well

Smashburger - very good and had two original the other night during my dinner break along with a Sam Adams, no fries.

Johnny Rockets - excellent burgers and shakes but sometimes they can be a little too greasy

Fuddruckers - probably some of the BEST burgers you will ever have but just never took off with poor marketing. I think people didn't like to wait 10 minutes for a burger that was supposed to be fast food. I love their burgers.

I don't think "eat in" places are comparing apples to apples...also price point. For drive-thru food Whataburger has the best burgers and McDonalds the best fries IMO.

Always been a fan of What-a-burger, probably because Me and the guys used to go there nearly every Friday night after the game; it's like comfort food at this point.

Also a big fan of Steak-n-Shake, for basically the same reason, just with my buddies from college. And I think they have great cheesy fries.

My favorite burger chain, dine-in, has always been Goldie's back in Tulsa. Only burger I ever had that didn't require a condiment. Just buns, burger, and cheese. The only other burtger joint that ever came close was Hamburger Haven, also in Tulsa, but they closed their doors while I was still in high school. Apparently they were a mob front and got busted. The burgers were pretty good, but the onion rings . . . they still are the best onion rings I've ever eaten. And huge. Some of the rings were bigger than my face.

First 2 locations will be in Blue Springs and Overland Park.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.kmbc.com/amp/article/whataburger-locations-confirmed-in-blue-springs-missouri-overland-park-kansas/34437034

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. —
We finally know where the two first Whataburger locations in Kansas City will be located.

Whataburger has two job listings on its website for general manager positions in Blue Springs and in Overland Park. The jobs were listed on the burger joint’s website for the first time on Tuesday.

The Blue Springs location is slated to be at 905 Highway 7. The Kansas City Star reports that location is a former Winstead’s that closed in 2018.

The Overland Park location will be at 8420 W. 135th Street, which used to be a location of a Salty Iguana, The Star reports.

Interested in the position?

Here’s what Whataburger lists as what it’s looking for in a general manager.

“At Whataburger, we are a team of Family Members,” Whataburger said in the job posting. “We take pride in our work. We care about each other. And we love serving our customers. As a Whataburger Family Member, you will belong to something special — a beloved brand with a proud legacy. The values and skills you gain from working at Whataburger will serve you well at every stage of your career. Be part of something bigger — join the Whataburger Family today.”

After reports that Patrick Mahomes’ favorite fast-food burger would be expanding into the Kansas City metro area, Whataburger finally confirmed in early August it will be expanding its market into Kansas and Missouri.

Mahomes made his love for Whataburger well-known when he tweeted in 2018 that he wants a location in Kansas City. He also tweeted about Whataburger after a Chicago firm bought a major stock in the business.

“I just want a store in Kansas City,” Mahomes said.

Now, less than two years later, Mahomes is going to get his wish.

One of the best fast food burgers I've had was at a McD's in Oak Grove, MO that I crushed going down 70 to get to STL in a hurry. Wouldn't even consider messing with a McD's around here.

Nostalgia is a lot of it too.

Is Whataburger going to be like Jack in the Box was, super hyped for a while, then hardly ever hear about it now.

Whataburger is nothing like Jack in the Box. Probably closer to a Sonic Burger 40 years ago when they were good. I first had WAB working for clients on pipelines in Texass and Oklahomo when Pat Mahomes was dining on his mama's teet. I was instantly in awe it was delicious. Tasted just like Rays Big Burger that I grew up within the 60s in KC North.

Everyone has different tastes. I have traveled the country quite a lot for work had many different crew members over the years none ever had a bad word for WAB it was always a treat to us to be in their franchise area to enjoy. Now they are coming to KC and I couldn't be happier. My burger stops will be LC's and WAB. I have a Five Guys within a mile and a half but was bland ho-hum so don't give it much thought.

I will end with this thought. You hate Whataburger then you hate Patrick Mahomes who was big in them coming to KC. IF WAB fails in KC you have failed Patrick.

Thank about that you Commies :D

Whataburger needs to bring back their Chorizo Burger and Root Beer Shakes. DAMN those are good. They'll make you fat af, and kill you quick if you eat them often. As an occasional cheat day treat however, both are fantastic.

In'N Out burger is either really good or trash, depending on which one you go to. If the lines are crazy, both drive-thru and lobby, you've found a good one. When hot & fresh, animal style burgers and fries are killer.

Next time you go West try The Habit. Good stuff!

Yeah, Wahlburgers. It's okay. The "Government Cheese" bit is pretty funny. Decent beer selection, GREAT adult shakes (think they call them "frappes") as well.

Speaking of adult shakes, Twisted Root is decent. Eclectic menu (burgers made from different animals). Only place I've seen those is TX

I've not but I know people that ate at the I think original in Massachusetts. They say it's pretty good more of a restaurant than a burger joint. A single burger with cheese I believe was 10 bucks don't know if it came with fries and drink. Some of the OP Kansas crew at the office say there is one in a Hyvee in OP.

I caught the special Aldi sale this last summer on Whalburger bacon sausage and buffalo burger. None were anything to eww and ahh over. Bacon was on par with Oscar Mayer. The buff burger was sweet like all buff burger. I didn't like the link sausage had a weird spice to it. One thing in common it was all super expensive like twice you would pay for similar quality in Hyvee.

I only asked because I was out on Monday and had to make an emergency pitstop at the HyVee on 40Hwy in Independence and noticed they had a Walhburger's sign up along with the Starbucks one. That's an interesting partnership, guessing they can't afford to run their Hyvee Grille space so they're transitioning to retail clients.

All the hyvee grills here have been changed to Wahlburgers for over a year.
Shame. I liked the grill. It is just not doing as good of business as WB.

I tried both In-N-Out and Jack N The Box for the first time on a trip to SoCal/Vegas a few years back.

I thought In-N-Out was really good. We may have just picked a good location because it was busy and the food we received was hot.

My experience with Jack N The Box was a bit different. The one I visited was in San Diego. A homeless dude and some rando were about to fight in the dining room. The food was decent and, despite the near-brawl, the most memorable thing about the Box for me was the diversity in menu items. I feel like they had every kind of protein in the joint.

Major burger joints I've still never tried: Whataburger, Smashburger, and Red Robin.

And that's exactly why I've never understood the In N Out hype.... a lot of people say they land at LAX and the first thing they do is go to In N Out.

So, they're likely spending $300 minimum round trip to LA for whatever reason, plus hotel, car, etc.... and they're going to the "best cheap burger place ever"?

Freakin' splurge for that $10 burger at The Habit or any number of better burgers, and throw in fries that are most likely 100% better than In N Out's.

And I totally agree if you have $5 to your name or just want a cheap option, it's a good or even 'great' burger for the money. It's also the equivalent of getting hyped up to rent an Altima for the weekend.

White Castles aren't for everyone, but a nice thing about them, if you DO 'crave' them is that the ones in the freezer aisle at the supermarket do the job really well. Microwave for 60s wrapped in a paper towel and it's nice and hot and the bun is fluffy. Not 'great' but as good as you're going to get at any of their locations.

Had it a few times while living in El Paso. It was...fine? For some reason a lot of the food tasted like Sonic only a bit nicer.

I feel like I should not be able to microwave your food with no discernible difference in quality from getting it at the restaurant lol

I can't believe that franchise spawned a movie series.. Taco Bell? Yeah, I could see that. Even McDonald's was pretty awesome back in the day. Not White Castle.

Five Guys is pretty good, but they don't have a drive thru. Also, if you're going to pay $12 for a double cheese combo and have to walk in, just go to Hereford House. They'll serve you an angus beef burger with house thick fries for $14.

Exactly. Not sure why everyone gets so worked up about it. I like all of them, but my favorite is the burger you could get at Ralph & Esters in Goodland KS. They dropped the mike on the burger discussion IMO. It's closed now, so no need to go looking for it. :(

I wouldn't wait in line for 3 hours for a blowjob.

This place will still be open (presumably) in a year or two. Just go then when the dust settles.

Alot of people get off on being ‘first’ or actually enjoy being in retail crowds. Like the Black Friday lines. Not my cup of tea, but lots of people love it.

"Whataburger" is the chain out of Texas that Mahomes likes. But the better burger is a mom and pop one of a kind place in Russellville, AR called "Feltner's Whatta-Burger." Note the slightly different spelling. Across the street from Arkansas Tech college (the Wonderboys), it's been voted the best burger in Arkansas many times over. Great place I used to stop at all the time on the way to Hot Springs to see my folks. And "Feltner" is my wife's maiden name, so she liked her name being on the sign! If you're ever crossing Arkansas on I-40, this is the place to get lunch. It's about halfway between Ft. Smith and Little Rock:

I mean, it's a burger. Regardless of how good it is, there's only so much range of quality in a fast food burger.
