Take this for what it’s worth.

A well-placed source who has been correct in the past just texted me this: The 49ers will announce George Kittle’s contract extension this Friday.

According to the source, it will be a six-year extension worth $94.8 million -- or $15.8 million per season. Of that money, the 49ers guaranteed 50 percent of it, or $47.4 million. Kittle also will receive a $25 million signing bonus, and the 49ers will structure his deal in such a way that he will cost them only $10 million of their salary cap space in 2021.

Kelce gonna get paid.

He'll be 31 in October. How long a contract will KC give him? Best TE in the game right now, but he is getting to that age where it can all vanish in a hurry.

I see Kelce get a two year extension at best with a cap hit between 10-12 mill.

That's pretty pessimistic.

If this is true, good deal for the 49ers. Guy is a beast. No question he could get more than that in the open market.

Subjectively, I think so. Who was the most recent game changing tight end to sign a contract?

Hate the Niners but this is well deserved. Seems like a good teammate and he's a really complete tight end. I like our guy better, but niner fans should be happy about this one.

TE is one of the lowest paid positions in the league, so i doubt he'd get a ton more on the open market. He's still gonna be the top paid TE in the league.

We can tell him all about great tight ends who never won a ring, because of playing primarily with retread QBs.

Want a ring? Come to KC.

Kelce might be one of those tough situations where they have to ask him to take a discount in order to stay. The age part elevates the risk for the team so much already that paying him whatever Kittle gets just wouldn’t be good business.

He won’t leave if they just offer him something respectable, my guess.

I'm thinking the Chiefs extend Kelce 3 years and sign T.J.Hockenson when his contract expires in Detroit.

NFL contracts aren't really based on who's the better player.

Kittle in the Chiefs offense would be damn near unstoppable.

Kittle in the Chiefs offense would be damn near unstoppable.

Why?

Is he suppose to be a better route runner and pass catcher than Kelce?

No idea why you or anyone comes to that conclusion.

I'd say its a contributing factor. I'm not sure what you are arguing. He is going to get a large contract that he deserves.

Kittle in the Chiefs offense would be damn near unstoppable.

I think Kittle is already in an offense where his talents are being used to perfection. He is an outstanding run blocker and he is used in an offense where they run the ball a ton- especially to the outside and on zone blocks. I don't think Kittle is an exceptional route runner but where I think he is elite is after the catch. Kittle is an absolute monster with the ball in his hands, and due to the heavy play action offense of the 49ers I think it allows Kittle more opportunities to catch the ball in space and let him run.

Besides the Chiefs offense is already unstoppable with their current personnel.

Kelce will be offered 3 YR extension with years 4 and 5 optional based on conditions.

Can't go all in for 5 or 6 years.

The guy had the production of a Top 15 WR, and got paid like one. I think tight ends have been generally underpaid.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that tight ends have the value of a WR, in general.

I guess the 49ers are idiots for preferring C.J. Beathard and Joe Williams over Georgie Kittle too!

I'm actually surprised it wasn't higher per year, nice to see a reasonable increase in the market, with the way TE's are used in today's NFL as a jack of all trades, it's well deserved.

How long till Kelce gets his extension now? It should save about 6m on this years cap if they get it done soon. That would provide lots of flexibility.
