View Full Version : Chiefs Let’s talk about the Texans

We’re back! Our favorite football team, the world champion Kansas City Chiefs, have a football game in less than 10 days!

Our foe is familiar. They’re coming in with wrecked pride and mashed vaginas due to Mahomes eviceration, but they look different this time. And their safety said it would be different this time!

Like everyone else, the Texans have tried copying our model. They got rid of an elite receiver to bring in Brandin Cooks and his concussions, but provided he can still be the same guy, that gives the Texans 3 top receivers with 4.3 speed in Fuller, Cooks and Stills. Randall Cobb is a nice vet as 4th receiver and David Johnson now works for wanna Hoodie, so maybe he can recharge his once promising career?

Their weapons will probably be the toughest thing about them and it should be fun to see what Spags does to counter.

Their defense is still terrible. Sure JJ Watt will probably be a problem at times. Give him credit, it’s the beginning of the season and he will be a force until the 3rd quarter when he inevitably gets sent to the hospital again to end his season.

The best part about this defense is not that their secondary is basically the same terrible secondary that we scored on at will. It’s not that our old friend Phillip Gaines is still there. No they had to do us one better!

Guess who their starting safety is per ourlads? Eric fucking Murray! LMAO

This game should be a fun offensive battle but I foresee us putting at least 45 on these guys. Clyde the Glyde is gonna take off and we’re going to win!

This is a huge advantage for the Chiefs! How many starters did they lose 2 or 3?

Most other teams have much more change and I think teams with a QB/Coach change will take the longest to adjust.

Texans changed by getting rid of their big play maker WR.

Texans were dead last in red zone scoring defense last season. Also they were second to last in red zone TDs allowed. They will be facing a team that ranked first or second (don't remember exactly which) in RZ TDs scored. And HOU gave away their best offensive weapon.

Furthermore, so far as I know HOU has done nothing to improve their secondary, or their pass rush.

Methinks the Texans are going to wish they'd stayed in bed by half-time.

BOB is the epitome of what happens when you mix bad luck with world class stupidity. He’s like the Earnest Worrell of NFL coaches. He somehow blows a lead that would guarantee any other team in the league a playoff win, trades away his best offensive weapon for a bag of Cheetos, then has to relive the nightmare all over again on national TV as the first NFL game of the season that every.single.person will be watching. No way in hell can NBC rationalize making this the JJ Watt telethon anymore either. It’s Mahomes all the way now and I cannot wait.

Kelce just killed them in the playoffs, I think that is who Pat is going to target again.

Maybe.

But I have it in the back of my head that Andy expects them to try and take away Kelce with some new coverage, and his response might be to make Watkins or Robinson the focus of the offense.

The problem with that is I really believe that Andy uses the first quarter or so as a testing ground so he can find the weaknesses in the offense he's facing and then exploit them for the rest of the game. So the focus of the offense really could be almost anyone.

And then there's Pat himself, who wants to air it out, and regularly extends the play to find those 2nd, 3rd or even maybe 4th windows (what?). Between the two of them the actual gameplan could be nothing more than a very broad guideline once things get started.

If they trot Eric Murray out there as a starting safety, this tells me all I need to know about our ability to score at will. I can't think of a player that frustrated me more in man to man coverage than that asshat. It's the one thing I disagreed with Terez Paylor on when he said Murray is due for a breakout season and will show out (when Berry went down). I pray to sweet baby Jesus they put Murray on Kelce.

Fun Fact: The last time the Texans won a season opener played on the road was 2013.

All in all, I expect a win by 10+ but who knows since home field advantage may not really exist.

That’s the biggest concern that I have with this game. No Breeland, Sneed’s first ever action in a real game due to no preseason and Thornhill is coming off an ACL repair.

Spags gameplan should be interesting.

I just don't think the Texans can hang with us if we bring the 2019 defense that played in the second half of the season.

Watkins is an X factor and could always explode but it's just not likely that the defense has any answers against a Mahomes-led offense that can do whatever it wants.

Poor Lonnie Johnson got obliterated by Kelce. I don’t think he was able to cover him successfully one time. Reid got owned too. Gaines was torched. Roby was the only one who was able to make even one decent play but still got torched by Tyreek.

Now Eric Murray is starting for them?

I think a more fair statement regarding the lack of preseason is that teams with new regimes or new players will be impacted the most- neither of those apply to the Chiefs.

The Chiefs who are returning the vast majority of their starters on both sides of the ball with one of the most veteran head coaches in the NFL in my opinion will be impacted much less than most teams in the NFL. Anyways you're opinion is quite the hot take, I won't berate you but I don't think the Texans will be able to hang with the Chiefs based on emotion alone.

I doubt it. He’s only had at least 140 and 2 TDs twice in his career, both in 2016.

His stats are fairly consistent (at least until last year), but he rarely has big games. He’s normally around 70-90 yards with maybe a TD.

Nothing to do with Kelce. They like Yelder, and he’s been banged up throughout camp. They don’t know what they have in Keizer as he hasn’t had any game action yet.

Apparently you must had missed the part where Kelce is "limited" in today's injury report. And as you mentioned Yelder is also banged up as well.

Hopefully the knee isn't an issue, but if they had to carry 4 all together, something is up.

I'm sure the issue he had in the playoffs was a hamstring...not a knee? Either way hopefully it's a minor thing.

I expect the Texans to try to do what the Patriots/Lions and Chargers/49ers did when they played tight man press on the receivers and cover 3 variance.

That’s why CEH is so important. If teams do that you just throw to CEH in the flat or middle of the field to destroy the 1v1 LB matchup every time.

This is gonna be so fun

I just don't feel like that secondary can cover the Chiefs receivers, and their pass rush is not effective enough to actually hamper Patrick and stop him picking them apart. Literally everything will be working.

I am going to go ahead and predict a missed opportunity to CEH that is like a 30 yard pass, would have been a TD but it's just over thrown or off the fingertips or something, just to give us a taste of whats in store later in the season.

O.city
09-08-2020, 03:26 PM
You've gotta be able to rush 4 and get home to beat the Chiefs. The 9ers had dudes all across the DL so they could do it for a while. But in the end, Chiefs figured it out.

If you can't get there with 4 you just can't beat them. You can't blitz or try to sit back and play coverage, Chiefs staff and players are too smart.

If CEH is as good as they think he will be, man, I just don't know how you slow it down. You can rush 4 and you're gonna end up with a 1 on 1 situation with him on a LB. He's gonna win that.

Chiefs basically have the equivalent of the 13/14 Bronco offenses with a more mobile QB. You aren't going to stop them. You probably won't really slow them down unless you can be super physical and rush a few and get home. Even then, they're probably putting up 30.

So you're basically gonna have to hope your offense is clicking, the Chiefs make some mistakes and...you get lucky. Some of those Manning Colt teams were similar in that if they're really in gear and locked in, you just aren't going to stop them. Maybe slow them down a bit.

Texans fans are really clinging to that week 6 win last year as a reason for why they have a real shot tomorrow, but when you think back, it took a whole lotta bullshit for them to even win that game.

Terrible injury list for KC, that ridiculous non-call for PI against Kelce that resulted in an interception, Mahomes playing on a bad ankle...

And now they don’t have Hopkins. This really shouldn’t be that close in the end.

They sure are. it's funny.

I've seen a lot of comments about exploiting KC's LB corps in the flats. Hopefully Gay can make an impact there.

I watched part of that Week 6 game the other day. KC was really rolling early despite crazy amounts of penalties.

The strip-sack-fumble-to-TE at the end of the 1st half and Mahomes getting his ankle tweaked again really toasted KC's offense in the 2nd half.

Not sure how much impact Gay is going to make in the first game of the season. I wouldn't count on that. My guess is you'll see Niemann out there covering RB's in the flats, at least early on.
