Good for him, I guess. Was selfishly hoping he'd just be done and entire career would've been with the Chiefs.

He can’t flip the field anymore. Still pretty accurate, but his leg isn’t near what it once was.

I’m concerned about our holder for XP’s. DC was equally as good of a holder as he was a punter.

That’s a critical job that doesn’t get attention till it blows up a game at a critical point.

Especially with a shortened offseason to practice.

I got to talk to him for a long time at the Twisted Chief meet n greet last December. He grew up in Pittsburgh, so if he's got to go somewhere to make a living, it's a town that is home for him. So it's all good. He's just trying to make a few more NFL bucks while he can, and a guy has to go where the work is. Good luck except when he plays us.

I wish we’d go back to the days of having a QB be the holder. Henne probably has zero experience in that area, but is he any worse off than Townsend?

It would have been a better franchise story to do a 'last season' and retire with the Chiefs. Wish the best for him.

It's time to consider no punt, 4 down football. We have the team. IMHO ;)

I have read where Townsend is a tremendous athlete, and that he and Butker are working well together.

Townsend looked terrible in the practice I saw. Hopefully, he was just having a bad day. Sir Shanksalot.

Hopefully Colquitt doesn't go all Antonio Brown there. Pittsburgh seems to make players weird.

I wish that he had just retired this off-season. He could have went out on top, with a ring, on his own terms. Instead, he gets cut from the Chiefs and cut again after just 5 games with the Steelers. He deserved a better end to his career than that. But, at least he did get that ring first

Steelers punted him to the curb.

To bad. He should have retired a Chief

also he gets $1 million.

also he gets $1 million.

I THINK he only gets the prorated salary, so around $325k. Still, that's $325k he wouldn't have had if he'd retired.

Wonder why the Steelers are cutting him, though. He's been fine this season from what I can tell, and it's not like he's commanding a huge salary.

Can he kick extra points?

alanm

Can he kick extra points?I could be wrong but is Butker's yips being caused by the way our new punter is catching and placing the ball for him? He's always been used to Colquitt. :hmmm:

Colquitt was last in the NFL in Net Punting. Since the rosters have expanded for Covid this season, Steelers had a rookie on the practice squad as a replacement. They have a little concern about how he'll do holding for field goals, but Tomlin wanted better production in the punt game. Can't blame him, he's in a battle for the AFC North and every yard matters.
