We started the process of purchasing land to build two months ago and finally got around to start building this week and we have now had to pay double for lumber than what we were going to when had decided to build three months ago. Just terrible timing.

My buddy builds houses. He said all lumber was at least double. He has 2
Half million dollar houses to build that he signed the contracts before it went crazy. He’s gonna take a big hit on them.

It's a crazy sellers market out here right now but I haven't heard anything about a rise in new home construction. Not yet anyway. Rental market is going up fast.

We just finished building a new house in May, but we didn't have the builder finish the basement because I thought I could do it cheaper contracting the work out myself. Now I'm kicking myself for that decision.
