How would Tuesday + Saturday to Buffalo be any different than Sunday + Thursday to Buffalo?

Why Saturday? Just move it to Sunday. Bills would already be getting an extra prime time game to offset the lost Thursday night game, and the Chiefs already got their extra prime time game with the Pats. So, make it Sunday afternoon and be done with it. No need to put it up against college football games.

i think for TV purposes they want to be the only NFL game on

TNF is a primetime solo game

so im thinking it will just become Saturday Night Football

It's not about the chiefs or bills being owed a primetime game, it's the network who paid to have an exclusive timeslot for maximum viewers being owed an exclusive timeslot. Saturday is the only way that happens.

Here is another hurdle for moving the Buffalo game to Saturday (and broadcasting it on national TV)... the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961.

Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_Broadcasting_Act_of_1961

The law has been interpreted to include the so-called "blackout rules" which protect a home team from competing games broadcast into its home territory on a day when it is playing a game at home, and from having to broadcast games within its home market area that have not sold out. It also, in effect, protects high school football and college football game attendance by blacking out pro football games locally on Friday evenings and Saturdays during those sports' regular seasons; these measures effectively outlawed the broadcasting (and, in practice, the playing) of NFL games on those days, since virtually all of the country is within 75 miles (120 km) of at least one high school game on every Friday night in September and October.

This portion of the act has since been partially circumvented; the NFL extended its season in 1978 to allow a few weeks of Friday night or Saturday games if the league so wished. Late-season Saturday games have been common since then, but Friday night games are still extremely rare; the league has played only eight Friday games since 1978, mostly because of the NFL's restrictions during Christmas. In 2005, a Miami Dolphins-Kansas City Chiefs matchup, scheduled for Sunday, October 23 in Miami, was moved up to 7pm Friday night due to Hurricane Wilma. The game was televised only within 75 miles of Miami and Kansas City.

If they need to move Buffalo/Titans to Tuesday...

How about moving Buffalo/Chiefs to Monday? The Chiefs & Packers double header was pretty cool earlier this week. The normal Monday game for Week 6 is in Dallas (central time just like Green Bay). They could easily do the same thing we saw earlier this week.

Chiefs/Buffalo at 6:05 PM Central
Cards/Cowboys at 7:50 PM Central

How is that any different from a Thursday night participant playing a Sunday participant the following week? So we played Thursday against the Bills then would have 9 days between games, and our opponent (Broncos, in this case) would only have 6 days between games. Sometimes with the schedule, you just don't have equal days of rest between games.

Some teams are going to have to play on fewer (or more) days rest. It's not going to be totally fair. As long as it doesn't start becoming weeks instead of days, it is what it is.

But if that prevents games from being forfeited (which is WHOLLY unfair on many levels) so be it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_Broadcasting_Act_of_1961

The Sports Broadcasting Act was passed in response to a court decision which ruled that the NFL's method of negotiating television broadcasting rights violated antitrust laws.[2][3] The court ruled that the "pooling" of rights by all the teams to conclude an exclusive contract between the league and CBS was illegal.

The Act overrules that decision, and permits certain joint broadcasting agreements among the major professional sports. It recognizes the fact that the various franchises in a sports league, while competitors in the sporting sense, are not as much business competitors as they are interdependent partners, whose success as enterprises is intertwined, as a certain level of competitive balance between them must exist for any of them to remain viable enterprises. Therefore, it permits the sale of a television "package" to a network or networks in which the league members share equally, a procedure which is common today. Of the five major North American professional team sports, the Act is most pertinent to the NFL, as all of its regular-season and playoff games are covered by the rights assigned by its various packages with the networks, including its own.

The law has been interpreted to include the so-called "blackout rules" which protect a home team from competing games broadcast into its home territory on a day when it is playing a game at home, and from having to broadcast games within its home market area that have not sold out. The Saturday thing is kind of silly. Just put the game on Sunday. Send the Titans a nice hefty fine that covers any ad revenue lost.

Fox and Amazon have paid out a ton of money for the broadcast rights to Thursday Night Football.

Moving a game, especially a game with the appeal of two undefeated teams in the AFC, including the Super Bowl Champions, would generate a larger than normal percentage of advertising revenues, which will not happen if the game is moved to Sunday morning or afternoon.

It could also damage (albeit, slightly) the league's overall ratings at the end of the year, although I doubt it will affect the ongoing negotiations for new broadcast deals.

It's not up for debate. NBC owns the Broadcast Rights for Sunday Night Football and there's no chance in hell they allow Fox to broadcast the Chiefs-Bills Sunday evening.

ESPN moved their start time back 40 minutes to accommodate the Patriots-Chiefs and the game was more than 2/3rd over by the time the MNF game began.

The Sunday schedule does not allow for such a move.

Also, they can’t give a bad team a win either. That’s hurts their draft slot.

She is legit.

But I don’t see how they can do Tues + Saturday to Buffalo. That would be terrible when KC would be coming off a Sunday game.

Tuesday to Saturday is the same time gap as Sunday to Thursday pretty much. I guess it gives us a slight advantage...to make it fair I suppose they could move our game to Monday Night again :)

I think the NFL will suspend Vrabel and take away draft picks before they will do a forfeit.

Forfeit is the last nuclear option. The NFL will avoid it at all costs.

It reeks of the unprofessional journalism KC had been subjected to with Kevin Keitzman for years.

"My sources tell me Scot Pioli has been abducted by aliens... Now I am not saying it's true, but my sources tell me... So take it for what it's worth."

The Bills will still be getting one whole day of extra rest. I honestly don't understand the bitch. There have to be other examples of schedule anomalies that result in one team getting more rest than the other.

So if the Bills do play on Tuesday then KC has no more Thursday night games (pending COVID situation the rest of the season)? Seems like a huge scheduling win.

They’re just building in the excuses for an ass whooping they’d likely get no matter what.

If I had to bet, it’ll stay on Thursday anyhow because Tennessee will have more positives. And then we will again be at a disadvantage.

Those all seem like smart moves. Sucks for the Bills, but you wanted football, well this is what you're going to have to deal with.

No different than the St. Louis Cardinals having to play eleventy million doubleheaders. I'm not sure what these fans thought was going to happen. If you want a perfectly clean normal season, you might as well just cancel the whole thing and come back in 2021.

Of course they wouldn't. Like I said before, they're getting an extra day of rest. They're looking at this all wrong. That extra day of rest, for guys nursing injuries, is FAR more important than whether or not the Chiefs got MORE rest.

3:25 on Sunday does not work very well. FOX already has the Rodgers/Brady matchup for that time slot. Either way it looks like Buffalo/KC is going to be a regional matchup no matter what. FOX can't be happy about that. Of course the Titans have to test negative for 3 more days, or we go back to a Thursday matchup for KC/Buffalo.
