Actually, I’d be willing to bet that’s exactly what happened.

Jones had another big penalty to keep a drive alive this game.

Jones, Clark and Honey Badger all played terribly.

Oh no question it was his worst.

He alluded to being sick or something in his tweet after the game. I wonder what was up because he seemed totally off and a step late the entire game.

Jones should probably be yelling at Frank Clark.

Yeah, I’m on his ass again. Too many “they’ll play big when the playoffs roll around!” guys on this team.

Clark is getting paid to play well RIGHT NOW. Is he still hurt or some shit? If he is are we gonna have to put up with this nonsense with him every goddamn regular season?

DL needs a fucking ass chewing after this game.

Glad the Chiefs won ultimately...thanks to Mahomes/Kelce, but that DL performance was fucking pathetic. Secondary wasn't much better.

Open field tackling is still fucking god damn awful.

This was after a bye week.....and the Raiders had half of their squad not even practicing this week and almost put a clown suit on the Chiefs again.

kjwood75nro

Talking shit is nice, but any toddler can do that.

How about show up and at least pretend like you're playing for millions of dollars.

Jones, at least pretend like you know what run defense is.

Clark, earn your keep as a...well, fucking anything on the front line.

Mathieu...when Honey Badger don't give a fuck...he's not talking about tackling. Do something with the same passion that you talk shit. At least Sorensen gets a pick once in awhile, fuck...

The time has come for real accountability. Last season was the Titans' loss. What will it be this year?

This....

He was invisible up to that point in the game, then he proceeded to be offsides 2x in one drive.

Saw him just standing at the LOS and not giving HIS all more than once.

Sneed is a player tho....maybe he fucked up...but he gives effort every down....Chris.

Defense is gonna have to get their shit together. Might mean getting in each others face about it. Or trying to fire other players up.

Whatever it is, hopefully it all works out by January.

Just before the sideline incident, TE Waller scored on a goal line Chiefs defense.

We had Frank Clark at right DE and Tanoh Kpassagnon at left DE.

Four defensive tackles in Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Mike Pennel, and Tershawn Wharton lined up on the inside.

We had three linebackers in Damien Wilson, Anthony Hitchens, and Ben Niemann.

We had also had Tyrann Mathieu and Daniel Sorensen in at safety.

We were completely expecting a run.

Waller came off the Raider's right side and crossed the middle with no one covering and caught the pass for a TD.

Ben Niemann and Anthony Hitchens were both covering the same man (Not Waller).

I assume Sneed, not being in during the play, said something like WTF to coaches and players.

He seemed to have some protection by Wharton and a hooded masked player with Chris Jones hopping over and saying a few words.

Hopefully they all talked and we play better against Tampa Bay.

Would like to have seen Sneed on Waller.

Maybe a package that included Sneed in place of Sorensen.

Sorensen struggling wrapping up again.

I think the masked hooded player may have been BoPete Keyes since he was inactive for the game and would be friends with L'Jarius Sneed. I think he was just trying to protect Sneed.

Waller is a really good player and the Chiefs needed someone with speed to cover him.

I don’t pretend to be a football guru who knows the intricacies of defensive plays and schemes but it seemed like every time we played zone Carr just ate us alive and when they were in man (to blitz or otherwise) we had some success. Not sure what the Raiders were doing to confuse the defense but whatever it was it worked.

Everytime someone blows up with a “they can’t stop the run” take, point to this game. They’re normally very good vs the pass and shit vs the run.

Last night is a prime example of why it’s better that way. Teams wanna run the ball? Go for it. Stop the pass and stop them in the red zone

The shitty defense did a 180 when we brought in T-Sizzle last year. Nothing like that on the radar this year.

If they plan to go deep into the playoffs, or have a shot at making the Super Bowl, things on Defense need to improve. Right now they look like a bucket full of assholes.

There's no reason to think KC cant improve on defense again this season...Defense as a whole is down across the league this season. IMO we can improve it enough for our offense to win games. Look at Sneed and the direction where his eyes are. He was going at it with somebody else and it seems very obvious that Jones, while fired up, was mediating. It becomes even more obvious when you realize that like you said, Jones isn’t the type to go off on a teammate. My guess is it was Tyrann who Sneed was arguing with.

While nobody on this D seems to be guilt-free, I think what we saw there is very much needed.

The D really isn't very strong; physically, emotionally, or from a maturity standpoint. The physical part is the part can be fixed, but not over night and that's a problem. Carr had a lot of time in a very comfortable pocket while PM had to resort to quick passes and rolling out. That tells me that the Chiefs don't have the muscle on either line to stop or push teams with big strong players.

The Raiders will remain a problem for a while. I'd say I'd hate to be Spags this morning, but I'm pretty sure they're not messing with him since they know he could just ask for CH and BV to provide some spendy weapons like the O enjoys, so he's probably just telling them A) "we won", B) the game ended with a defensive pickoff, and C) "we stopped them when we had to". So cock-blocking anybody from questioning his D.

Jones clearly didn't have a great game, and has had some stupid penalties lately, but he's one of the least of our problems on the DL and the defense overall. The problem is nobody else on the DL is doing anything, particularly Frank fucking Clark.

Everyone always has to lump Jones in with Frank Clark for some God damn reason.

One of the reasons we like Sneed is he plays with an edge.

It was actually one of his red flags coming out of college so we're gonna live with it because it is useful when it comes time to tackle and this defense was honestly pretty soft last night.

Especially Matthieu and I love the guy. Just not his night

May have been an excuse or something but HB tweeted after the game that he felt like shit out there. Not sure if he was sick or what but he definitely had one of his worst games as a Chief.

I don't think Jones, Clark or Mathieu have been earning their huge salaries. Most of the money spent on D is between those 3.
The defense may keep the team from a repeat superbowl.

I was pounding the table for Sneed long before anybody on CP even knew who he was. I have no clue what you’re referring to.

Jones was 4th in the entire NFL in QB Pressures playing in at least 1 fewer game than the 3 in front of him. He's already tied his total for last year and after last night he's exceeded it.

Meh.

If he shows up in the post-season every year like he did last year, I don't know that I'm too concerned about whether we go 11-5, 12-4, 14-2, whatever.

It's all about rings and trophys at this point. Nothing else matters. Don't care about pissing away a couple regular season games as long as these guys are all ready to go come playoff time. THAT's when it matters.

If he wants to take a few plays (or a game off) once in a while. Meh.

Just take care of your shit in the post-season.

Now, that being said, the first time we get an early exit from the playoffs because of this Jones, Clark, Watkins shit, you'll hear me bitch and bitch loudly.

But until then . . . . . . . . . . . meh.

I'd be more concerned if they weren't mad last night.....it's football: It's an emotional game, and when units as a whole aren't playing well, they're going to get frustrated and people are going to call other people out, and (as is the case with most everyone), I'd guess Jones was just as pissed about his own play even moreso than everyone else.

I'd also bet good money that once the game was over, they bro hugged it out in the locker room (or whatever the Covid equivalent to that is now) and all was good, particularly since they won the game.

When you have a bunch of alpha dudes fighting together in the trenches, it's sometimes going to get ugly....

Whatever it is that transpired between them, or didn't, I fully expect last night to be the alarm bell that side of the ball desperately needed going down the stretch

Its perfectly fair to recognize that Vegas likely has the best O line in the biz, but the absolute stonewall job they put on us cannot be repeated... by them or anyone else

Either way it was the most energy he exerted all night.

If I had a million dollars for every time I saw Jones stand up and quit in the middle of a play last night I'd be as rich as he is.

But if you had to give back a million for every play he made that helped win us a Super Bowl, you’d be as broke as you are now.

I would accept that as a truism. Carr might be the 2nd-best QB in the AFC. And Brady . . . isn't in the top 10. Maybe not the top 15.

This was in every scouting report on Jones coming out of college. This, and his mediocre play in the run game. It’s tolerable when he’s getting pressure/sacks on the QB. Much more noticeable when he is not.

I’m actually alright with that play. There are other plays much worse...plays in which he could have made a play/forced a fumble if the effort was there.

More specifically. Watch the last few plays of the first quarter, particularly the snap with about 39 seconds on the clock. The next one is about as bad with 2 seconds left. It’s the first quarter. You can’t be tired yet. Doesn’t even get off the line of scrimmage.

Dude was literally just standing still.Jones usually quits giving effort when the ball clears the LOS, or when the running play is away from him and the running back is already 5 yards past the LOS. For the most part, I don't have a problem with it, because he isn't wasting energy on a play he most likely can't make.

I actually thought K-Pass's defensive coverage on the play was pretty damn good for a DE.

It really was good coverage, and he almost broke up the play. But, I would prefer our defensive ends not drop back into man to man coverage on the goal line, or anywhere else on the field. I have no problem with them dropping back into a short zone on blitzes or whatever, trying to catch the QB off-guard, baiting him into quickly making a bad decision, but covering a HOF tight end will never have a favorable outcome.

Yeah, considering he's a DE, I thought he defensed Witten rather well right there. Had him covered for about 5.5 seconds before Witten finally uncovered. Not going to blame him for allowing Witten to get open after about 6 seconds.

I noticed that too. They scored a touchdown but Kpass worked his ass off in coverage on that play. He covered at least 3 cuts before a good throw completed a pass. Kpass is really athletic, I wonder if he would be better at LB than Niemann. :D

The problem wasn't Kpass dropping in coverage. It was the fact that we didn't get any pressure on Carr that entire time. If we get any penetration and force Carr to throw the pass earlier Kpass probably gets the job done.
